Porsche vs Sistine Chapel: There is no substitute

The disappointments never end for me with this Pope.

As if this weeks Synod reports weren't bad enough, Pope Francis has rented out the Sistine Chapel to Porsche.

I guess anything for a buck goes these days- charity or not. It's one thing for visitors coming to see the wonders the Vatican has in its rich Catholic history (there is respect and awe in that)- quite another for a car manufacturer looking to promote its self under the false guise of 'charity'.  Greed, self promotion and using holy things for gain.  I have a problem with that, but Pope Francis clearly doesn't.

Anyone else have the scriptures of the money changers being driven out by Christ flash into their heads when you first heard this story?

Matthew 21:12-13New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)Jesus Cleanses the Temple
12 Then Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 He said to them, “It is written,
‘My house shall be called a house of prayer’;    but you are making it a den of robbers.”

Or maybe you were reminded of what helped make Porsche so famous in America during the 1980's?  Tom Cruise dancing in his underwear having sex with a prostitute and taking his parents Porsche for a joy ride?

Poor judgement rules again at the Vatican.  Is nothing sacred and off limits anymore?

Quote: "...the managing director of the Vatican Museums, Monsignor Paolo Nicolini, rejected suggestions the the chapel was available for rent.“The Sistine Chapel can never be rented because it is not a commercial place,” he told reporters on Thursday (Oct. 16)." [end quote]
Such hypocrisy.  The Sistine Chapel has just been bought and paid for on behalf of a commercial event that will give money to the Vatican for the use of the Sistine Chapel by Porsche - a car manufacturer.

Do they really believe their own spin on this?

*sigh*

  1. THIS is INSANITY. pure and simple. Well, I guess there is a fine line between insanity and evil. Maybe I should actually say this is 'insanely evil'. Jesus in the Temple was indeed the first thing that came to my mind.

  2. Catholicism is largely contrary to the biblical truth. Let's compare Catholic doctrine with biblical truth and see.
.Canon 30: "If any one saith, that, after the grace of Justification has been received, to every penitent sinner the guilt is remitted, and the debt of eternal punishment is blotted out in such wise, that there remains not any debt of temporal punishment to be discharged either in this world, or in the next in Purgatory, before the entrance to the kingdom of heaven can be opened (to him); let him be anathema." means damned. What the bible says "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." (Rom. 5)."And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross." (Col. 2:13-14) Catholicsm again burdensome false meriting salvation by works.Canon 24:"If any one saith, that the justice received is not preserved and also Increased before God through good works; but that the said works are merely the fruits and signs of Justification obtained, but not a cause of the increase thereof; let him be anathema."What the bible says "O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? 4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. 5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed."

    1. Faith without works is dead. Those who put down their wife and takes another commits adultery. These are where Protestant churches
dissent as they preach to us about what The Bible says...hypocrites.

    Mike Sturm welcome.

I wish I could say you made any point at all with your long comment, but you did not. You are 100+% wrong. This is what happens when people try to self interpret the Bible without knowing the Bible and Christian history.

It would be like someone today refusing to watch that old black and white movie "The Gay Divorcee" because they think its about a homosexual. ;)

Educate yourself Mike, and you will see the Truth of the Catholic Church.

My email is open if you'd like to discuss any Catholic beliefs you disagree with. I'd be happy to share the proper resources with you.

  4. There was also Justin Bieber kicking a ball around during his tour of the unoccupied papal apartments which were once holy places where the Mass was offered, the Blessed Sacrament present, and the popes prayed. That was when the pope did not take up a floor of a nearby hotel run by a homosexual.

  5. The porsche was famous long before Risky Business came out.
