EWTN’s Pre-Canonization Lineup Will Include A Special From L.A. With Archbishop Gomez And Scores of Movies, Documentaries & More
Irondale, AL –Two towering figures in Catholicism -- Pope
John Paul II and Pope John XXIII – are about to be canonized and only EWTN
Global Catholic Network will air the specials, documentaries, movies, series and
more that will help you understand just why these men are so important to
Catholics around the world.
Celebrate! On the night before the canonizations, EWTN will take you to the
Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, where Los Angeles Archbishop José Gomez
will lead the “Pope John Paul II Canonization Celebration and Vigil” at 10 p.m.
ET, Saturday, April 26. It’s a special celebration full of “must see”
surprises.
In the week leading up to the canonization, you’ll want to stay tuned for a
cascade of specials.
Fans of Pope John Paul II won’t want to miss “Nine Days That Changed the
World,” a look back at Pope John Paul II’s transformational nine-day pilgrimage
to Poland in 1979; “In the Footsteps of John Paul the Great,” an EWTN Original
Production in which British Journalist Joanna Bogle and Clare Anderson traverse
the streets and villages where young Karol Wojtyla played, studied, and hid from
the Nazis; “Personalism of John Paul II,” another EWTN Original Production on

Fans of Pope John XXXIII won’t want to miss “John XXIII: The Saint,” a
half-hour documentary on the contributions of John XXIII to the Church and to
the world, featuring historic footage from the Vatican archives and interviews
on his legacy; “The True Life and Teachings of Pope John XXIII,” a 12-part
series dedicated to the Pope’s writings, works, and wisdom, by Fr. McBride, who
began a study of this Pope after meeting him just before his death in 1963; “The Papacy: A Living History,” a new
edition to Fr. Richard Kunst’s popular series features an array of Pope John
XXIII’s personal belongings, which help illustrate Church history during his
time as Pope – and many others!
