The Francis Effect

Gloria.TV description: Fr. Linus Clovis on the Francis Effect at a seminar for Pro-Life Leaders in Rome, 8th May 2015.
**********************
**Note, this priest says that Pope Francis said (the "Rabbitgate" controversy) "three is enough", three children is enough was what he was talking about. The Vatican deleted that statement from the record.  Gee...I wonder why?

All I can say is...'Well said Father, well said."

Protest at Planned Parenthood in New Haven, CT

Protest at New Haven Planned Parenthood Facility on August 22 warns: “PP Sells Baby Parts”

New Haven, CT — In light of recent revelations that Planned Parenthood has been harvesting and selling aborted baby parts, concerned citizens of New Haven are calling for a protest at the Planned Parenthood facility at 345 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT on August 22 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. This effort is part of a National Day of Protest taking place at Planned Parenthood offices and abortion facilities all across the United States (http://www.protestpp.com) to raise awareness about Planned Parenthood’s trafficking of aborted baby parts.

Undercover videos (see links below) released by the Center for Medical Progress reveal that Planned Parenthood abortion clinics, with the sanction of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, are involved in the harvesting of body parts of unborn children aborted in their facilities and profiting from their sale contrary to federal laws prohibiting such practices. The videos show high-level Planned Parenthood executives haggling over the prices of fetal specimens. The videos also raise ethical questions about the exploitation of unborn children for financial gain and risks to women’s health if abortion procedures are altered solely to procure more profitable specimens.

As a consequence of this public scandal, several states have initiated investigations of Planned Parenthood and legislation has been introduced in Congress to defund the abortion giant. Planned Parenthood currently receives over $500 million in taxpayer funding annually.

WHO: concerned citizens of New Haven
WHAT: Protest calling attention to PP’s baby parts trafficking
WHERE: Planned Parenthood, 345 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT
WHEN: August 22, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to11:00 a.m.

The ProtestPP.com coalition is headed by Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Created Equal, 40 Days for Life and the Pro-Life Action League, and is co-sponsored by fifty state and national pro-life organizations.

Local spokesman Timothy O’Rourke Jr. said:

“All politics is local. We cannot only look to Washington, DC and our state governments to solve this problem. Planned Parenthood is located in large and small communities all across America. Each community with a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic or satellite office needs to take action against the killing of babies and the trafficking of their body parts. Concerned local citizens from New Haven will be sending the message that it’s well past time for Planned Parenthood to be closed in New Haven!”

EWTN Press Release: Premiering New Show for Youth on Youtube

EWTN’s New Show For Youth To Premiere on YouTube

‘You’re Amazing With Justin Fatica’ Deals With Real Issues Such as Pornography and Broken Families

Irondale, AL (EWTN) – “You’re Amazing With Justin Fatica” is more than just the title of EWTN’s newest series, which will premiere online Thursday, August 27. (Find out more below!) It’s also more than just a slogan to our host, Author/Speaker/Evangelist Justin Fatica of “Hard as Nails.”

Recently, this young dynamo was at a book signing when a teenager came up to him and said, “I think your message is baloney.” Most people would have been offended. Not Justin.
“I’m an East Coast guy,” he said, “I’m thinking, ‘I like this kid.’ I said, ‘Why do you think that?’”

The teen said, “My dad left me. He’s not amazing. Everybody is not amazing.”

Justin said, “That really must have hurt, but your dad is still amazing.”
The teen got indignant. “You can’t say that. You don’t know what I went through. He left us. I had to take care of my brother.”

Justin looked at the teen and said, “That must have been really hard for you. What your dad DID was not amazing, but your DAD is amazing.”

“You can’t say that,” the teen insisted.

“Did it hurt you when your dad left?”

“Yes, I was a little kid.”

“Did you ever cry about it?”

“Yeah, I cried about it! It hurt!”

“If your dad wasn’t amazing, it wouldn’t have hurt so bad,” Justin said. “Your dad just has to know how amazing he is so he won’t hurt people anymore. When you sin, it hurts others and yourself.”

That’s just a taste of the kind of straight talk that Justin uses to begin cracking open the doors to wounded hearts in need of the healing only Jesus can bring. Find out more on August 27, when EWTN kicks off a series that will take you on a journey to high schools across the United States. In each episode, you will experience Justin as he brings young people – and their parents – to Christ.  You will be there as he speaks with teens about the many issues they face such as pornography, broken families, premarital sex, self-mutilation, and lost loved ones.

EWTN’s newest series will premiere online at 8:30 p.m. ET, Thursday, August 27, a week before its 10 p.m. ET, Thursday, Sept. 3 premiere on EWTN television! However, the online version, which can only be seen at www.youtube.com/ewtn, contains a special bonus!

Ninety minutes before Episode 1 begins, EWTN invites you to experience a LIVE “Life on the Rock” with Justin and Producer Jeremy Rivera. In the live pre-show, Justin and Jeremy will interact with students from John Carroll High School in Birmingham as well as LOTR Hosts Father Mark and Doug Barry. Justin will also take viewer questions, which can be sent to amazing@ewtn.com!

The pre-show will air online from 7 p.m. ET to 8:30 p.m. ET, Thursday, August 27. It will be immediately followed at 8:30 p.m. ET by the first half-hour episode of “You’re Amazing With Justin Fatica.” While Episode 1 of “You’re Amazing” will remain on YouTube, the pre-show will only be available online once!

Find out more about the series and view the trailers at www.ewtn.com/amazing. And don’t forget to send your questions to amazing@ewtn.com. See you Thursday, August 27!

Why is Ben Carson duping Catholic religious?

This is very disappointing to me.
Ben Carson appears to me to be deceiving these Catholic nuns (among other Catholic religious).  He tweeted the following image:

Did Carson tell them he's not the pro-life man he's falsely pretended to be for months?

I saw the photo re-tweeted by a good holy priest today, of Ben Carson speaking to these clapping and smiling nuns.

This good priest was totally unaware that Ben Carson supports the abortion drug RU-486 and is only pro-life AFTER 6 weeks when a heartbeat can be detected.

Once I shared this video with the priest...he thanked me and expressed his shock and disappointment...

...as did numerous other pro-lifers on Twitter who were duped by Ben Carson.

If you know pro-life supporters who are supporting Ben Carson, PLEASE share this information.  Show them the video.  Don't let them be deceived by this man who falsely claims to be pro-life when he's not.

EWTN Press Release: EWTN Forms New Book Publishing Group

EWTN Forms New Book Publishing Group

EWTN Publishing Inc. to be a Joint Venture with Sophia Institute Press

Irondale, AL (EWTN) – EWTN Global Catholic Network has formed a new book publishing group as a joint venture with New Hampshire-based Sophia Institute Press. The new nonprofit organization, EWTN Publishing Inc., will allow the Network to begin to regularly publish books in both print and electronic form and to make them available to a worldwide audience.

“There is still a very strong demand for books related to topics of faith and religion, and while EWTN has done limited self-published titles for some time, this new publishing house will allow us to be more deliberate and focused in our efforts,” said EWTN Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael P. Warsaw. “By partnering with Sophia Institute Press, the Network does not need to build an entire publications and marketing team from scratch; but rather, we can rely on the technical expertise of a proven publisher who knows what it takes to edit, print and promote books for the Catholic marketplace.”

“From the perspective of Sophia Institute, this is a great opportunity to marshal our resources together to advance our mission of saving souls by producing good, strong spiritual works that can help people on their faith journey,” said Sophia Institute President Charlie McKinney.  “What we do well is produce books; everything that comes out of our operation is beautifully done, well laid out, and nicely designed. We have 30 years of experience in the publishing world, which includes marketing know-how, relationships with bookstores, and key distribution lines. This partnership will enable us to take what we do best and combine it with the great content EWTN produces!”

Some of the first titles expected to be produced by the new imprint will be Mother Angelica’s written works, including her popular mini-books, which will be updated and repackaged for a new generation; as well as content from “Mother Angelica Live” and other EWTN shows, which will be edited and turned into books.

Sophia Institute Press publishes faithful Catholic classics and new Catholic books by the enduring figures of the Catholic intellectual tradition. Sophia has published hundreds of Catholic books in conformity with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church by authors such as St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Therese of Lisieux, Archbishop Fulton Sheen, Dietrich von Hildebrand, and many others.  In addition, Sophia Institute’s other apostolates include Crisis Magazine (www.CrisisMagazine.com); Catholic Exchange (www.CatholicExchange.com); and Sophia Institute for Teachers (www.SophiaInstituteforTeachers.org), which provides Catholic school educators with teaching strategies, classroom materials and background knowledge to engage students with the Faith.

Bishop-elect Fr. Barron's Divine Comedy on Hell

Lately, Fr. Barron has been busy on Youtube leaving assorted distortions and confusing replies to the comments on his "we have a reasonable hope all people are saved" video, where two days ago he reasserted his 'hope' for universal salvation...

My focus is not on his video...but rather his replies (both new and old) to people who are confused by his statements that often conflict with the Church, the Bible and the writings of the Saints and Doctors of the Church.

Here is an old comment Fr. Barron made telling a woman TO speculate that "all will be saved" but DO NOT speculate that anyone will go to hell.

When people asked him about Ananias and Sapphira being saved or damned (Bible: Acts 5)...
Ananias and Sapphira5 "But a man named Ananias, with the consent of his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property; with his wife’s knowledge, he kept back some of the proceeds, and brought only a part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. “Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us but to God!” Now when Ananias heard these words, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard of it. The young men came and wrapped up his body, then carried him out and buried him. After an interval of about three hours his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. Peter said to her, “Tell me whether you and your husband sold the land for such and such a price.” And she said, “Yes, that was the price.” Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” 10 Immediately she fell down at his feet and died. When the young men came in they found her dead, so they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 And great fear seized the whole church and all who heard of these things."

...Barron ignored them and did not respond.  I thought it was a good question and I would have liked seeing Barron's response.

So it's really no great wonder why the people leaving comments on Barron's Youtube Channel are so confused.  Barron has stirred up valid questions and they aren't getting valid answers.

In the following comments we see exactly why Bishop-elect "hopes" all will be saved...he wonders if any human ever dies in a state of mortal sin:

How do we know anyone actually dies in mortal sin??  Really?

Looking around the world today, Fr. Barron questions whether or not people die in a state of mortal sin?  This stuns me.
Oh well, that explains it!

I have no idea what Bishop-elect Barron is saying here (above).  Is he saying because Christ calls 'us all' that 'all' will answer and be saved? He seems very focused on the word "all", while completely forgetting Sacred Scripture of Christ separating the sheep from the goats (Matthew 25).

Barron goes on with his "all" fascination:
I think I'm having a Clinton flash-back 'what is the meaning of is'!

Notice below that Fr. Barron poo-poos Church approved apparitions on revelation about hell, but he fully supports Dante's Divine Comedy (the "single tear") as a reliable source for information on hell and salvation.

...and here
now again just two days ago he uses Dante as proof...

And again he REALLY likes Dante:

Nothing against Dante...but I would take Sacred Scripture, the visions of hell and warnings of Our Lady of Fatima over Dante's Divine Comedy as a resource on Hell and the very real fact that people will spend eternity there.

One more thing... Barron isn't too fond of Church Militant's Michael Voris for pointing all this out over the years. ;)

Barron thinks Voris is a "bully" and says he won't respond to him...
...yet Barron says he DID respond to Voris...

In Christ and wondering what in Hell Bishop-elect Fr. Barron is talking about,

Julie @ Connecticut Catholic Corner

Archbishop of Detroit going soft on Holy Communion?

In 2013, Archbishop Vigneron of Detroit said "...Catholics who back same-sex marriage and receive Communion would 'logically bring shame for a double-dealing that is not unlike perjury' in a Free Press article.  Of course, this caused the progressive self-declared "catholics" fits of outrage which they expressed by picketing the Archbishop's office.

In a supposed email to Detroit Free Press, the Archbishop said, Whenever it comes to Communion, the objective is never to steer a person away,” which of course has progressives and gay advocates in a titter declaring (get this) "...it's a Jesus response".

So once more, the ignorant progressives in the Church, emboldened by Pope Francis' now infamous words "Who am I to judge?" have decided the Archbishop's "softer tone" means the "communion table" is open for anyone with a clear conscience.

That my friends is Protestantism, not Catholicism.  It's the "be your own pope" mentality.

For these folks, when the Archbishop was correctly cautioning people about Holy Communion he was bad...but when he says the "objective is never to steer a person away [from Holy Communion]" then he's speaking as Jesus would?

Bull hockey.

The Archbishop was right in 2013 and wrong now- if he did in fact write such an email stating it is "never" the objective "to steer a person away" from Holy Communion. That is wrong.  There are of course MANY TIMES when people should be turned from Holy Communion- namely when they are in a state of mortal sin!  Any mortal sin...gay "marriage", they had/performed an abortion, fornication, adultery etc., the list goes on.

If an open (public) heretic is receiving Holy Communion they are also guilty of the sin of scandal (think Pelosi & Biden).  Priests knowing these things should deny them Holy Communion.
"I too raise my voice, I beseech, beg and implore that no one draw near to this sacred table with a sullied and corrupt conscience. Such an act, in fact, can never be called "communion," not even were we to touch the Lord's body a thousand times over, but "condemnation," "torment" and "increase of punishment..." - Saint John Chrysostom
*******
"All the faithful are to be admitted to Holy Communion, except those who are prohibited for a just reason. The publicly unworthy, which are the excommunicated, those under interdict, and the manifestly infamous, such as prostitutes, those cohabiting, usurers, sorcerers, fortune-tellers, blasphemers and other sinners of the public kind, are, however, to be prevented, unless their penitence and amendment has been established and they will have repaired the public scandal." - Rituale Romanum

Francis DeBernardo of New Ways Ministry (gay group the Catholic Church has denounced many times) said, It [the Archbishop's email] recognizes that people, in their consciences, have to weigh the church’s teachings in their own lives and relationships. That is authentic Catholic teaching. He’s [Archbishop Vignernon] not watering down anything. He’s proclaiming the church’s teaching more accurately than he did back then.

Wrong.  "Authentic Catholic" teaching on gay unions is very clear, yet the New Ways Ministry group continually reject authentic Catholic teaching when it doesn't suit their agenda.

And further, mortal sin does not depend solely on whether or not the sinner's conscience is clear.  An unformed or deformed or warped conscience may never tell a person they are in a state of mortal sin.

I am reminded of GK Chesterton's saying "I do not need a Church to tell me I am wrong when I know I am wrong, I need a Church to tell me I am wrong when I think I'm right."

How true!  Yet these progressives refuse any correction.  Instead of listening, they picket and protest!  How are they any different from Martin Luther before them?

Don't got soft Archbishop Vigneron - you won't be helping these people if you go soft on Church teaching.

*Most Rev. Raymond L. Burke, Archbishop of St. Louis:  "The Fathers of the Church and approved theologians have addressed the Church's serious concern that due respect be paid to the Most Blessed Sacrament, that souls not fall into the sin of sacrilege by receiving the Body and Blood of Christ unworthily, and that scandal not be given to the faithful by a careless administration of the Holy Eucharist to individuals who clearly are not rightly disposed, that is, who obstinately persevere in manifest serious sin."

In Christ,

Erick Erickson has drawn a decency line...

...I just don't know where that decency line actually is.

I noticed Erick Erickson was trending on Twitter and decided to see why.

I was shocked at what I found.

Seems he's quickly run out of Trump love, though I am not sure I really understand considering Erickson's favorable tweets about Trump during the Fox News GOP debate on Thursday night.

For example...

Notice that all of these tweets are well into the debate... long after Megyn Kelly started the debate with a list of insults Trump has tossed out at women over the years (Trump claimed it was only directed at Rosie O'Donnell).  *Erickson's opinion of Trump never wavered over the insults directed at assorted women from Trump.  Erickson even tweeted that Trump was "hilarious".

*This is my confusion.

Now today, Erickson has dis-invited Trump to his RedState Gathering...

...because Trump's remark about Megyn Kelly was a  bridge too far?

Really?

What remark?  I looked around the Internet first finding an article by the Washington Post that saw insults everywhere from Trump against Kelly.

Here are some supposed terrible, horrible, unforgivable insults from Trump about Megyn Kelly according to the Washington Post...

Now, I don't see an insult in saying he believed Megyn Kelly's "behaviour at the #GOPDebate was astonishingly biased"...or that he believed Kelly "bombed" (I think she did too) or that he thinks she was the "biggest loser" coming out of the debate (I said the same thing the night of the debate- hours before Trump did).

But apparently those tweets weren't the ones that changed Erickson's mind about having Trump attend his RedState Gathering.  It was a comment made by Trump on CNN.

Here is Erickson's explanation:
"He [Trump] is not a professional politician and is known for being a blunt talker. He connects with so much of the anger in the Republican base and is not afraid to be outspoken on a lot of issues. But there are even lines blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians should not cross.Decency is one of those lines. As much as I do personally like Donald Trump, his comment about Megyn Kelly on CNN is a bridge too far for me.In a CNN interview, Mr. Trump said of Megyn Kelly, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.”It was not the “blood coming out of her eyes” part that was the problem."
Ok. I am good with a person drawing a line in the sand and saying "Decency is one of those lines" you don't cross.  My problem is Erickson didn't care when the insults were directed at other women.  He only took exception when the (crude) insult was directed at Megyn Kelly.  What's with that?  Some women are OK to insult and others aren't?

Why the hypocrisy?

Is it because the insult said on CNN by Trump mentioned "blood"?  Was that the line of "decency" not to be crossed while calling other women "fat pigs, dogs, disgusting animals and slobs" is perfectly fine with Erickson? "Hilarious" even?

Was Trump making a crude reference to Kelly possibly suffering a bout of PMS?  I really have no idea, and its not the point.

I am no Rosie O'Donnell fan, but why was it OK with Erickson when Trump was insulting O'Donnell and other women calling them slobs, pigs etc, but suddenly there is a "line of decency" you don't cross when an insult is tossed at Megyn Kelly?

That's the part I don't get.

Be consistent.

If you're a man and you're going to be outraged over women being insulted then stick up for all women being insulted.  That would be the decent thing to do.

In Christ,

Julie @ Connecticut Catholic Corner

CORRECTION: I had previously posted an image from Daily Currant about Erick Erickson saying 'women are dumb' and other things. It has been pointed out to me that The Daily Currant is SATIRE.  I apologize for my error and for believing Erick Erickson said those things.  The rest above still stands.
