The new age of Pope Francis' church

I simply do not recognize this Catholic Church...

On the Feast day of the Immaculate Conception, Pope Francis kicked off his "Year of Mercy" with a "climate change" light show at the Vatican, which illuminated assorted animals (complete with animal sound effects) in St. Peter's Square.

Nothing in this earthly display, displayed actual Catholicism.  And it was (in my opinion) an insult to Mary, because this display took over the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.  A time when we should have been celebrating the wonder of God in His creation of Mary without sin, we were instead subjected to Francis' obsession with saving the earth from climate change.

quote:  "The multi-million dollar show titled "Fiat Lux: Illuminating Our Common Home" was created and funded by climate-change partisans and population-control advocates with the goal to “educate and inspire change around the climate crisis across generations, cultures, languages, religions and class.” Along with images of the world and its endangered animals, including lions, birds, apes, and whales, appeared New Age symbolism associated with ancient pagan deities.
The show also took place on the most important Marian feast day for Catholics, the Immaculate Conception, where Catholics celebrate Mary being conceived in the womb of her mother Anne without the stain of original sin.
Many pro-family leaders from around the world say they are flabbergasted that the pope would allow St. Peter’s to be used as a backdrop for promoting the controversial and contentious “climate change” agenda."

I think, we are soon getting to the point where the things this pope says or does no longer shock or surprise us. Myself, when I saw this, I just took a deep breath and shrugged, this is typical Francis.

Others may swoon over Francis, scream and wave at him like he's a rock star- myself, he makes me weep for a real Catholic pope who is holy and focused on saving souls, not the planet.

A pope truly who believes souls are more important to God than fluctuating temperature changes on earth.  A pope who leads the people in the faith given to us by God.  A pope who actually wants to convert people to the Catholic faith so they too can share in the Sacraments. Imagine that!

Dear God in Heaven, please give us a holy pope who wants to save souls for Your glory!

The Church's mission, given to Her by Jesus Christ was to save souls through the Sacraments and teachings of Christ's Holy Catholic Church, by converting people and helping them live their Catholic faith daily until their natural death.  That is the Church Christ founded on earth.

Pope Francis' church has decided its mission is to save the earth from climate change and to protect endangered animals.  It's nearly all we've heard from this pope.  His "Year of Mercy" (which I stupidly assumed was about God's mercy to us sinful humans through His Church and Her Sacraments) is apparently more about mercy to the planet and animals. That is the message I got out of this "illuminating" display of new age symbolism and animal calls.

While human souls are going to hell because Catholic priests won't tell them what sin is or that they need to repent of their sins, Francis is telling the world we must end climate change (as if!) and save animals.

The Church has lost its way and needs a true, devout, Godly pope to lead Her once more.  Pope Francis is not such a man.

In Christ,

  1. One has to question if he is an imposter pope who was illegally elected. The latest news is that the next synod coming up will be about the priesthood and celibacy. In other words, this man is just getting started and he is changing the Church. I believe that the point will come when we each will be required to make a choice- a choice that will cost-- either to ally with the corrupt, institutional façade of the Church, or ally with the real Church, which will be underground. Wait until he starts seriously tampering with the Holy Eucharist.
Regarding the 'light show', like most of what he writes and says, it was devoid of supernatural content. This is the one world agenda using the vehicle of the Church for its political--and atheistic--ends. Bergoglio is their front man.

  2. So well said, Julie. I happen to believe that if we concentrate on saving souls, souls will convert and then live for God and care for His creation as He intended.
This pope is constantly flapping his gums, and Scripture makes it clear that this is not a characteristic of a holy person.
He scares me, but I continue to pray for him.

  4. Ah, Julie, Julie. You are not allowing the Holy Spirit to lead you. We walk by faith, not by sight. The Holy Spirit promises always to be in charge. Jesus Christ said that the one who sits in Peter's Chair - no matter the state of his own soul - would never mislead the Church. It doesn't mean he is perfect. It doesn't mean everything he says and does is correct. But the fact is that the Vicar of Christ is the only human on earth who has the keys to the Kingdom. We must listen to him.

Seems to me that the complaint you voice is from people who insist that everything be done their way and according to their own understanding, or it must be rejected. If you had been in the Patriach Abraham's position, and God had told you to kill your son, what would you have done?

Personally, I don't understand why people are so upset over displaying God's creation on the Vatican. As far as showing new age images, the New Age movement is very steeped in nature. They are the ones who are using God's creation, not the other way around.

Here is a regular reading from the Liturgy of the Hours, taken from Daniel 3:

Bless the Lord, all you works of the Lord.
Praise and exalt him above all forever.
Angels of the Lord, bless the Lord.
    You heavens, bless the Lord.
All you waters above the heavens, bless the Lord.
All you hosts of the Lord, bless the Lord.
Sun and moon, bless the Lord.
Stars of heaven, bless the Lord.
Every shower and dew, bless the Lord.
All you winds, bless the Lord.
Fire and heat, bless the Lord.
Cold and chill, bless the Lord.
Dew and rain, bless the Lord.
Frost and chill, bless the Lord.
Ice and snow, bless the Lord.
Nights and days, bless the Lord.
Light and darkness, bless the Lord.
Lightnings and clouds, bless the Lord.
Let the earth bless the Lord.
Praise and exalt him above all forever.
Mountains and hills, bless the Lord.
Everything growing from the earth, bless the Lord.
    You springs, bless the Lord.
Seas and rivers, bless the Lord.
You dolphins and all water creatures, bless the Lord.
All you birds of the air, bless the Lord.
All you beasts, wild and tame, bless the Lord.
You sons of men, bless the Lord.
    O Israel, bless the Lord.
Praise and exalt him above all forever.
Priests of the Lord, bless the Lord.
Servants of the Lord, bless the Lord.
Spirits and souls of the just, bless the Lord.
Holy men of humble heart, bless the Lord.
Hananiah, Azariah, Mishael, bless the Lord. Praise and exalt him above all forever. Let us bless the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Let us praise and exalt him above all forever.
Blessed are you, Lord, in the firmament of heaven.
Praiseworthy and glorious and exalted above all forever.

  6. VATICAN LIGHT SHOW => ROMANS 1:21-25

So they are without excuse; 21* for although they knew God they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23* and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man or birds or animals or reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever! Amen.

Hat tip to St. Corbinians Bear!

  7. The person who put together this" light show" says he uses drugs to conjure up " dieties" so he con portray them more accurately. If this doesn't concern you in regards to this " light show" then you have been fooled by the " prince of this world".

  9. Thank you all for your comments, I truly appreciate all you've shared and agree with nearly all of you.

I need to once more, correct "Catholic in Brooklyn" for her statement that "The Holy Spirit promises always to be in charge" - that is not true. We have free will. The Holy Spirit does not rip the free will from any man- not even a pope.

Christ promised that "the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church" and the Holy Spirit does that. Man has free will and exercises that free will in error all the time- including popes. The Holy Spirit does NOT keep bad clergy (be they pope or parish priest) from error in all areas- only the Pope when speaking officially on Faith and/or Morals of the Church.

    From the Vatican website:
889 In order to preserve the Church in the purity of the faith handed on by the apostles, Christ who is the Truth willed to confer on her a share in his own infallibility. By a "supernatural sense of faith" the People of God, under the guidance of the Church's living Magisterium, "unfailingly adheres to this faith."417

890 The mission of the Magisterium is linked to the definitive nature of the covenant established by God with his people in Christ. It is this Magisterium's task to preserve God's people from deviations and defections and to guarantee them the objective possibility of professing the true faith without error. Thus, the pastoral duty of the Magisterium is aimed at seeing to it that the People of God abides in the truth that liberates. To fulfill this service, Christ endowed the Church's shepherds with the charism of infallibility in matters of faith and morals. The exercise of this charism takes several forms:

891 "The Roman Pontiff, head of the college of bishops, enjoys this infallibility in virtue of his office, when, as supreme pastor and teacher of all the faithful - who confirms his brethren in the faith he proclaims by a definitive act a doctrine pertaining to faith or morals. . . . The infallibility promised to the Church is also present in the body of bishops when, together with Peter's successor, they exercise the supreme Magisterium," above all in an Ecumenical Council.418 When the Church through its supreme Magisterium proposes a doctrine "for belief as being divinely revealed,"419 and as the teaching of Christ, the definitions "must be adhered to with the obedience of faith."420 This infallibility extends as far as the deposit of divine Revelation itself.421

892 Divine assistance is also given to the successors of the apostles, teaching in communion with the successor of Peter, and, in a particular way, to the bishop of Rome, pastor of the whole Church, when, without arriving at an infallible definition and without pronouncing in a "definitive manner," they propose in the exercise of the ordinary Magisterium a teaching that leads to better understanding of Revelation in matters of faith and morals. To this ordinary teaching the faithful "are to adhere to it with religious assent"422 which, though distinct from the assent of faith, is nonetheless an extension of it.

A simple look at some popes in history will prove that popes can and do error and when they error it has a profound effect on the world.
