In my opinion: probably. (I base this view on Mark 9:42 which warns those who cause OTHERS to fall into sin- see below and the Catholic Catechism that says 'mortal sin' IS in fact Mortal #1861)
That's about what I think of Sister Margaret Farley who at every turn thwarts the Catholic Church and its teachings, leads the stupid into moral corruption with her "ecumenical" (don't get me started) book about "love". She attempts to redefine the Church's teaching on gay sex and masturbation etc. because she thinks she knows better than 2,000+ years of Christ's Holy Catholic Church. She's either to be pitied for her spiritual stupidity or she's evil and willingly doing the devil's work.
Yes, I think that badly of this anti-Christ heretic nun and all 'nuns' like her and some Bishops and priests as well.
To all the Bishops and priests who REFUSE to put a stop to heretics like Sister March-With-Me-To-Hell Farley, you'd better repent too or you will be right behind her!
Jesus wasn't kidding around when he said "STOP AND SIN NO MORE OR SOMETHING WORSE WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!" [John 5:14]
Or when he said it is better to "gouge out" your own eye or cut off your own hand to prevent you from falling into sin [see scriptures below].
For the life of me, I don't know WHY the Church doesn't PURGE itself of these evil loving people (along with the child abusing priests). They have only ONE place in the Church and that is in a Confessional. If they aren't willing to repent and they continue to teach heresy they need to be EXCOMMUNICATED just like Martin Luther and others before and after him. Why doesn't the Church excommunicate like it once did? Out of fashion???
Excommunication is NEEDED and required by Sacred Scripture- 1 Cor.5 It is necessary for the salvation of souls! What could be more important than that? (Oh right... immigration reform! *slaps-forehead*)
Mortal Sin means DEATH- the eternal kind. No heaven, just eternal hell. There is no second chance after death. You die, you are judged and you get exactly what you deserve.
The Church, ALL her Bishops and priests deacons and nuns MUST, ABSOLUTELY MUST put a STOP to heretics who are leading people into MORTAL SIN.
If our clergy REFUSE to put a stop to heretics, the lost souls are ON THEIR HANDS and they will give an accounting for it AND be judged for it.
The Church's SOLE purpose on earth is to spread the Gospel SO SOULS CAN BE SAVED. If the Church's religious REFUSE to do what Christ called them to do, they aren't worth the space they take up in our Church.
That's my opinion on this matter because I am SICK TO NEAR DEATH of the Sister Margaret Farley's of the world - and the Bishops who refuse to do what they are called to do along with them! Enough is enough.
They are causing the damnation to souls and they don't seem to care- but they will. Oh they will. One day, when it is too late they will care very much.
They won't be caring about immigration reform or gay rights or riding any buses, they will be caring about where they are spending eternity.
What set me off this time?

"Sister Margaret Farley — a Catholic nun who graduated, taught and served as a board trustee at the University of Detroit-Mercy and is a retired Yale Divinity School professor — is not shutting up about supporting gay marriage and other positions that prompted the Vatican last year to censure the prominent theologian’s book on sexual ethics.
“You just can’t back down and say, I apologize, because it would contradict one’s integrity,” Farley, 78, who became a Sister of Mercy through the order’s local congregation, told about 400 people gathered Friday at Mercy Center in Farmington Hills."
And...
"Farley said she is delighted by the new pope, who has a down-to-earth, approachable style. “He seems teachable,” she said, and hoped he will listen to the many Catholic women who call for change.And...
“I think that women at this juncture are in some way key, because, for example, we do have the problem that there are not enough priests,” Farley said. “I think that eventually it will be necessary to ordain married men and women, married or not. But how that development will finally take place, what the evolution will be, I don’t know."
"Farley was invited to speak in metro Detroit, where she has family and friends, by a local group of progressive Catholics — which includes laypeople, priests and religious — known as the Elephants in the Living Room. In July, they helped arrange the metro Detroit visit of a controversial Austrian priest, the Rev. Helmut Schuller, who also challenges Vatican bans against married priests and other issues."
Question: WHY WON'T SOMEONE IN THE CHURCH TELL HER TO SHUT UP OR GET OUT? Heretics are NOT to be tolerated IN the Church. Hasn't anyone read Church history? The Council of Trent perhaps?

All thoughts are my own... I am NOT judging that ANYONE as ALREADY judged for Hell - NO ONE is already condemned to Hell, judgment comes after death and God mercifully until that very final moment we ALL have the opportunity to repent and be forgiven. What I am saying is that certain ROADS LEAD TO HELL, and liberals in the Church are on those roads (though they are not alone). Hopefully they will get off those roads by repenting and never turning back. That is my prayer for the liberals in the world to call themselves "Catholics".
To BE Catholic, you must BELIEVE what the Catholic Church teaches- anything else is a closet protestant or an atheist- take your pick, but please don't call yourself "Catholic", you aren't fooling anyone.

Scriptures:
Mark 9Temptations to Sin
42 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung round his neck and he were thrown into the sea. 43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, 48 where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched. 49 For every one will be salted with fire. 50 Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its saltness, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
John 5:14
New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE) 14 Later Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you have been made well! Do not sin any more, so that nothing worse happens to you.”
Greetings Julie---
ReplyDeleteYour posting made me very sad. Indeed, how very sad that heretics out there like Margie Farley, who dares call herself a Catholic Sister while doing the work of the devil. Much akin to a wolf dressed in sheep's clothing to go about tearing away true Catholic teachings from the children of God. A bit like a slaughter of the innocents---who know no better but to believe in lies spoken by a person who uses the name 'sister'. Oh, and by the way, she is NOT a nun. A nun is one who is a woman committing her life to Christ and all His teachings and takes perpetual vows. There are still good sisters and nuns out there, but people like Farley certainly tarnish the image. Shame on the Bishops who allow this. If you have never read "Sister's in Crisis", it would be a real eye-opener for you.
May God forgive us in the things we do that we ought not to, and not doing the things we ought to. Mother Mary---Pray for us.
Thank you for exposing this woman. Praying that she and others like her will have a profound reformation in life and return to the Father much like the prodigal son of which Jesus taught in scripture.
Peace,
Corrine M. Smith
I am steeling myself for the day when we know the answer to your awesome questions, Julie. Steeling myself.
ReplyDelete- Linda
Thank you Corrine and Linda for stopping by and sharing your comments! It's good to know others feel the same about this nonsense going on in the Church today.
ReplyDeleteEnough is enough.
I think the laity has to speak up and start DEMANDING our clergy do what they are supposed to do and stop sticking their heads in the sand to heretics IN the Church.
God bless you both!!

ReplyDeleteI am praying for all of you, that the hatred in your hearts may be replaced with the love of God. Prophets are often hated in their day. Margaret Farley gives THIS Catholic HOPE, and I support her whole-heartedly. Perhaps it would do you well to give thought to why the Bishops have not all condemned her, and you should follow suit in RESPECTING her, instead of posting disgraceful language on a Catholic blog ("Will someone shut SMF the hell up"). Theolgians' JOBS are to think critically about church teachings and offer timely commentary on them -- something that Farley does gracefully and eloquently. Have you even read "Just Love?" Did you read it with an open mind and heart? Did you try to make sense of it, or did you denounce it outright based on preconceived notions?
ReplyDeleteI would also like to remind you that the Catholic Church is neither "conservative" nor "liberal," so to denounce her as a "liberal" is misdirected.
The Church has, in its history, been wrong. Think of the abuse of indulgences, and anti-semitism, to name a few examples. And, the Church has, over time, changed. Look at the work of the Church Councils. The Holy Spirit works in EVERYONE, so your assertion that she thinks she "knows better" than the 2000+ years of the Church is also misdirected. Revelation happens over time IN PEOPLE through the Holy Spirit. The Spirit ABSOLUTELY can work through Farley. Shame on you for suggesting that the Spirit cannot.
And, as a Catholic, you should know that we all have an ABSOLUTE obligation to act according to one's own conscience. So, YES, Farley is right, in the eyes of the Church, to say “You just can’t back down and say, I apologize, because it would contradict one’s integrity.” She is correctly and appropriately following Church teaching.
Furthermore, do you just choose to disregard what Pope Francis has said about homosexuality? His view on the topic seems quite different to yours, but, as a Catholic, do you not have an obligation to heed the Pope's words?
Again, I am praying for you. You have so much hatred in your heart. I ask God to give you the love and peace that you need to get over whatever is causing you to be so hard-hearted. Our time is much better spent loving and serving those in need than putting forth hatred and bitterness into the world.
To laudateteum: This "sister" is a HERETIC. I STRONGLY suggest YOU read the Council of Trent (see link in article above) and educate yourself on how the Church deals with HERETICS and just what a HERETIC is. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteP.S. The pope did NOT change Church teaching on homosexuality- it is STILL a disorder and a should a homosexual be in a homosexual relationship they are in MORTAL SIN and WILL go to hell if they don't STOP and REPENT. That my dear, IS Church teaching and NO POPE can do a thing about it because it comes from GOD.
In Christ,
