Georgetown Professor explains how the Eucharist is insignificant
If you haven't seen yesterday's post "Catholic Professor says Jesus was prejudice and broken until he was cured by a woman" I would suggest taking a look as that is podcast 1 from Professor Joseph Jensen.
In podcast 1.2 Jensen suggests that any man or woman can change the bread and wine into the Eucharist. (He has a very twisted, Protestant actually, view of the Real Presence).
Matthew 18:20 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA) 20 "For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."His theology is that "the Real Presence is bigger than just the Eucharist". He twists scripture to say that "where ever two or three are gathered in my name" (Matthew 18:20) is the same "Real Presence" as the Eucharist at any Catholic parish. That there is no difference between the Consecrated Host (the real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus) and every human being walking the earth because Jesus is with us all. This is what many Protestant communities teach because they reject the Catholic interpretation of John 6 and all the Catholic Church has taught on the subject for over two thousand years.
He says, "If you worship the bread and wine as the Real Presence of Jesus, but then can't see the real presence of Jesus in the person next to you or the people around you, the bread and wine is totally insignificant."
Big problem here, Jensen refers to the Consecrated Host as "bread and wine", indicating he has serious issues with Church teaching on the Eucharist. That's a really big problem for any Catholic, but especially for a Permanent Roman Catholic Deacon and professor at Catholic institutions!
Jensen continues saying, "It [the Real Presence] is ONLY significant in terms of where two or three are gathered in the midst, and only significant in the living word that has been proclaimed- you've heard and then you go out and proclaim..." He's speaking here of the readings at Mass.
He finishes with his final opinion on when the Eucharist is significant by saying, "...and its only significant in you becoming the real presence of Jesus so that your words are Jesus' words, your actions are Jesus' actions and that begins to mend the brokenness in the same way that Jesus, in the time he was physically present on earth as the human that lived and died and is now resurrected and present in believers continuing to do exactly what Jesus did back then. That is what the Eucharist is about."
Oh dear, where to begin?
The Eucharist does not stop being the Real Presence (Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity) of Christ if we mere humans fail in our words and our actions. The Eucharist is not dependent on us, we are dependent on the Eucharist to nourish our souls and give us the graces we need.
Jensen says "in the time he [Jesus] was physically present on earth"... For goodness-sake! Jesus IS physically present on earth in the Eucharist, that is basic Catholic teaching!
"Christ held Himself in His hands when He gave His Body to His disciples saying: 'This is My Body.' No one partakes of this Flesh before he has adored it."- St. AugustineProfessor Jensen wants open Holy Communion for all people, not just Catholics. He says "closed communion invalidates the whole meaning of Eucharist and it invalidates the whole meaning of communion."
Again, nothing we do by our words or actions "invalidates" the Sacred Host.
Yet this [closed communion] is something many Catholics are confused about. I've heard this from many progressive Catholics. My suggestion, read Saint Paul in Scripture...
1 Cor. 27 "Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself."...and the Saints/Doctors of the Church to get a better understanding of just what you are doing when you receive Christ in the Eucharist.
Jensen is clearly poorly formed in the faith or a heretic who was rightly taught the Faith but rejects it, protesting Her teachings as so many Protestants have done. Either way, he's not teaching the authentic Catholic Faith.
Here is the authentic teaching of the Eucharist...
"Holy Eucharist is a sacrament instituted by Our Lord Jesus Christ, and contains our adorable Saviour Himself, under the appearance of bread and wine. The day before His Passion, Jesus Christ took bread into His sacred hands, blessed it, and changed it by His almighty power into His own Body and Blood. 'Take,' said He to His Apostles, 'take and eat ye of this; FOR THIS IS MY BODY.' And when they had communicated, He took a chalice of wine, blessed it, saying, 'Take and drink ye all of this; FOR THIS IS MY BLOOD, the blood of the new and eternal testament, which shall be shed for you and for many, to the remission of sins.' Then He gave to His Apostles, who thus became the first priests, the command and the power to do what He Himself had done, to change the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. 'And you,' he added, 'as often as ye do these things, ye shall do them in remembrance of Me.' Ever since that time, the Apostles, and their legitimate successors, the bishops and priests of the Catholic Church, have every day, when celebrating Mass, consecrated bread and wine; and it is this bread and wine, miraculously changed into the Body and Blood of our Lord, that we call the sacrament of Holy Eucharist, or the Blessed Sacrament. To communicate is to receive the sacrament of Holy Eucharist, or, in other words, it is to receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, really present, though hidden beneath the veils of the sacred Host. This Body is verily the same Body that was once upon this earth, but is not under the same conditions. In the Holy Eucharist it is in a glorified condition, and is thus immeasurably removed from the grossness of the natural and earthly body. To make a good communion is to receive Jesus Christ with right dispositions; to make a bad communion is to receive Him with evil dispositions. The first, the noblest, holiest, and most sublime action of which a creature is capable, for it is to unite one's self to God. The last is a terrible sacrilege, by which we betray Jesus Christ, like Judas, with a kiss." [Source: The Fountain of Catholic Knowledge: A Comprehensive Statement of All the Truths of the Holy Religion, Published by Office of Catholic Publications, copyright 1900]That teaching is not what Professor Jensen is teaching. Jensen tells engaged couples that he councils before marriage, "to have one meal a week where they talk about scripture and life and have a Eucharist meal - cause Jesus can show up anywhere, don't worry about not being ordained - and treat this meal as you would the Eucharist." Jensen promises that this homemade Eucharist meal "can be more effective than what you find at Mass."
"more effective"??? 😕
"If angels could be jealous of men, they would be so for one reason: Holy Communion."- St. Maximilian Kolbe
The stuff Jensen is peddling is pure Protestantism. This is NOT Catholic teaching. You cannot find the Real Presence of Christ in your cheese burger and french fries!
I am floored this man is teaching in any Catholic institute. This is scandalous and so sad. How many well meaning Catholics have looked to him for answers because of his position at these institutes or because he is a Deacon only to be fed heretical nonsense! How many of Christ's flock has he lead away from the authentic Faith into heresy?
This is truly disturbing.
Please people, if you hear something that sounds new or different from what you've always been taught, let that be alarm bells for you. Seek out the authentic Faith NOT IN MEN, but in the official documents and teachings of Christ's Holy Catholic Church where Christ Himself has promised the gates of Hell would never prevail.
In Christ,
Julie @ Connecticut Catholic Corner
**A reminder for Deacon Joseph Jensen...you don't get to change authentic teaching of the Faith.
Catholic Catechism #939 Helped by the priests, their co-workers, and by the deacons, the bishops have the duty of authentically teaching the faith, celebrating divine worship, above all the Eucharist, and guiding their Churches as true pastors. Their responsibility also includes concern for all the Churches, with and under the Pope.

Catholic Professor says Jesus was prejudice and broken until he was cured by a woman
Professor Joseph Jensen, who currently teaches Sacred Scripture at Georgetown University and at Trinity University and is a Roman Catholic Permanent Deacon, ordained for the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 1984, has come to the conclusion (and is teaching) that Jesus was "prejudice and broken" until the Canaanite woman (Matthew 15-21-28) "cures" Him and shows him how to dump his baggage.
Matthew 15:21-28 - Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA) 21 And Jesus went from thence, and retired into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. In a podcast promoted by This Is Catholic on Sound Cloud, Jensen spins his warped theology saying things like "Jesus's mission was to reform Jewish life and practice"(so much for being our Redeemer)...and...to "get Jews to love one another- Jesus had a very narrow view of his mission".
22 And behold a woman of Canaan who came out of those coasts, crying out, said to him: Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David: my daughter is grieviously troubled by the devil.
23 Who answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying: Send her away, for she crieth after us:
24 And he answering, said: I was not sent but to the sheep that are lost of the house of Israel.
25 But she came and adored him, saying: Lord, help me.
26 Who answering, said: It is not good to take the bread of the children, and to cast it to the dogs.
27 But she said: Yea, Lord; for the whelps also eat of the crumbs that fall from the table of their masters.
28 Then Jesus answering, said to her: O woman, great is thy faith: be it done to thee as thou wilt: and her daughter was cured from that hour.
Professor Jensen teaches all sorts of new things, like Saint Joseph was a prejudice Jew who taught Jesus to be prejudice too.
Jensen weaves a story saying Joseph probably sat down with a young Jesus to give him the birds and bees talk, by telling Jesus he will soon start to notice girls and when his interest shifts to the ladies, Jesus should make sure he doesn't look toward any Gentile females, that he must keep his eyes only on the Jewish girls.
Head spinning yet?
It gets worse.
He goes back to the story of the Canaanite woman (Matthew 15:21-28) saying that the story isn't about the faith of the woman (which the Church has always taught) but rather its about Jesus letting go of his "brokenness" (prejudice) and the moment Jesus stops being prejudice and broken, that is when the Canaanite woman's daughter is suddenly healed. The woman "cures" Jesus by way of "opening his eyes" to his prejudices against Gentiles. By default then, Jensen must think the healing would not have happened if Jesus continued to be "prejudice" toward Gentiles. This man is a menace to all of Christianity!
Professor Jensen continues saying, "This story is about people helping people overcome their prejudices and even their rigid conservative interpretation of the scriptures." Poor Jesus didn't know how screwed up he was until the Canaanite woman cured him! But it wasn't really Jesus' fault he was such a mess...no, that fault (according to Jensen) falls upon Saint Joseph for filling Jesus' head with prejudice and baggage.
He doesn't stop there. He continues rewriting Sacred Scripture with more of his insane blasphemous theology.
This one is a real doozy!
Jensen says the writers of Scared Scripture cleaned up Jesus' potty-mouth, because Jesus didn't actually say "It is not good to take the bread of the children, and to cast it to the dogs", oh no, says Jensen, Jesus actually said "It is not good to take the bread of the children, and cast it to the BITCHES"- because Jesus believed all Gentile women were bitches (all thanks to that dastardly Saint Joseph).
This man is scandalous and blasphemous. Completely UNFIT to teach anyone, anywhere!
He continues by saying Jesus had to get rid of his "baggage" so the world would ultimately be a better place. That is the power of the story according to Jensen.
Jensen uses his personal (Protestant-like) interpretation of this scripture to make his delusional points that Jesus had to change and so does the Church today. He doesn't specifically say what changes he thinks the Church needs, but I am guessing from his other statements its more of the homosexual agenda crap swamping our sick society today.
This shining example of all that is wrong with Catholics in the Church today, goes on to tell of how he officiates marriages...for homosexuals. He's a real gem, eh?
Why does Jensen preform civil weddings for gays? Because he "won't withhold God's blessing" from gays because "homosexuals are part of God's good gift to the world".
The Catholic catechism is crystal clear on homosexual relations.
What part of that doesn't this Catholic Professor understand?
Why is he allowed to teach anti-Catholic theology at Catholic institutions?
Boggles the mind!
There is a part 2 to this podcast with Jensen, I may or may not review that one- not sure I can handle any more of this filth at this point. I need to step away for a bit cause this sort of crap drives me nuts. 😒
May God help all those who believe Professor Joseph Jensen's warped theology.
Stick with the authentic Church teachings my friends, you can't go wrong with that. 😇
In Christ,
Julie @ Connecticut Catholic Corner

Lesbian cries about not being the right kind of Catholic
Lesbian teacher fired from the Catholic school she worked at writes: “This weekend I married the love of my life and unfortunately I was terminated from my job as a result,” she wrote. “In their eyes I’m not the right kind of Catholic for my choice in partner.”
The "right kind of Catholic", is one who is actually a practicing Catholic that doesn't reject Catholic teaching. Those Catholics who pick and choose this or that to believe and reject teachings they don't like are called heretics.
So she's right, she is NOT the "right kind of Catholic" to teach children in a Catholic private school (or anywhere else).
Upon being fired for "marrying" another woman, Jocelyn Morffi went on Instagram (using the hashtag #GuiltyOfLove) and the mental midgets came out of the woodwork to bemoan the big mean old Catholic Church for teaching that same sex relations are mortal sin that leads to eternal damnation, while cheering this woman on in her sin.
harveyxlove_This is heartbreaking 💔 I hope you get everything you want because you deserve it ❤️This dope thinks the lesbian "deserves" "everything" she wants because she... married another woman? 😕
blue_heffna_6Congratulations on marrying the love of your life.....if one door closes, many more will open.Yeah genius, the door to Heaven just closed and the door to Hell was thrown wide open.
I found this comment particularly interesting...
karmaaaalove; I'm 28years of age, I'm married to the love of my life who is a woman, I respect that she doesnt believe in religion or go to church with me but she does believe in God, she respects that I go to church every Sunday to listen to God's word, I don’t take the offering but I respect his word. I was raise a true Catholic since the age of 5years old meaning I did my baptism, confession, communion, and confirmation. I stand a true Catholic in my heart by Obeying Gods word. As I cry every Sunday when i am at church because I can't take the offering of God, I respect that it is not okay to take the offering because i'm married to a woman and in God's eye’s it’s not okay. I feel that you shouldn’t got fired but maybe you shouldn't be working in a Catholic school not because you are not the right kind of Christian but because in God's eyes it is not okay for a woman to marry another woman. And you should walk away with pride in your heart Knowing you will find another school that will love you maybe a public school to teach and embrace this is okay to move foward and love who you love. Catholic is Catholic and we should respect their religion as we should respect all religions. This is just my opinion as I believe that God love us the way we are, and he made us who we are, but respect God's wishes. By the way congratualations from me and my wife to your family. @teachhope70x7 @teachhope70x7This woman, knows that God says same sex relationships are wrong, she attends Mass and rightly doesn't receive Holy Communion, yet she still "marries" another woman KNOWING it is wrong. And still she declares "I stand a true Catholic in my heart by Obeying Gods word." She thinks she's "obeying God's word"? 🙈
These Catholics are delusional. So are the parents of the children from Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Miami, where this teacher was fired from. They, of course, are in an uproar that a heretical "married" lesbian Catholic teacher was fired from the school.
Quote: "Parents learned of the firing in a letter they received from the school on Thursday evening, which did not give a reason for the decision. On Friday morning, roughly 20 parents gathered at Sts. Peter and Paul to demand an explanation from the school principal. Why would any Catholic parent, sending their Catholic child to a Catholic school want a person living in public mortal sin teaching their children? What sort of example does that set for your children that you are supposedly raising Catholic? Boggles the mind!
“We were extremely livid. They treated her like a criminal, they didn’t even let her get her things out of her classroom,” said Cintia Cini, parent of one of the children in Morffi’s class. Cini said that the parents hadn’t known Morffi was gay, but did not care about her sexual orientation. “Our only concern was the way she was with our children, the way she taught our children and this woman by far was one of the best teachers out there,” she said."
Why bother sending them to a Catholic school at all?
Quote: Parents at Sts. Peter and Paul said they will continue to protest the decision. To be clear, the school did NOT fire the woman "based on her sexual orientation", she was fired because she "married" another woman, not because she was a lesbian.
“We were completely outraged, all of the parents,” said Samantha Mills, whose child was in Morffi’s class last year. “This teacher in particular has made such a contribution to the school. She never imposes her personal beliefs on others. She just does everything in love. She has a way of teaching that is so amazing.”
One parent, Valentina Simon, said she considered withdrawing her child from the school when she heard that Morffi had been fired based on her sexual orientation. “This is really bad,” said Simon. “It can’t be that in 2018 ... they still do this type of thing.”
Statement from 2015: As Florida became the latest state to legalize same-sex marriage this week, Miami Archbishop Thomas Wenski sent a memo to all church employees reiterating that any expressions of support for gay marriage — even if it’s only a tweet or Facebook post — could cost them their jobs.
“Whatever the role in which you serve within the Archdiocese, you publicly represent the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese in everything you do and say,” Wenski wrote in the memo, which was reported by the local NBC station.
Wenski then included an excerpt from the employee handbook stating that all archdiocesan workers “are expected to conduct themselves in a moral and ethical manner consistent with Catholic principles.”
The section went on to state that conduct inconsistent with Catholic teachings could lead to firing, “even if it occurs outside the normal working day and outside the strict confines of work performed by the employee for the Archdiocese.”
“Employees should exercise discretion when posting on social media sites, and note that online activity indicative of prohibitive behaviors may subject an employee to disciplinary action or termination,” it said.
That is perfectly clear. If you don't like the rules, don't work for the Catholic Church. It's really that simple.
But sadly, the parents either are ignorant of the Church's statement on this issue, or they (like so many heretics in the Church today) wish to protest and attempt to force the Church to change its teachings to suit society's whims.
These parents aren't concerned with the souls of their innocent children at all. They are only concerned with a heretical lesbian's job.
How far Catholic parents have fallen. May God helps us all, especially the innocent children being raised by such lacking Catholic parents.
In Christ,
Julie @ Connecticut Catholic Corner
This is what a Catholic wedding looks like:
1 man + 1 woman = marriage in the eyes of God and His Holy Catholic Church.
