The tsunami of confusion over
Pope Francis’ "who am I to judge” comment has claimed yet another delusional
victim. A poorly catechized Catholic is contemplating leaving her parish (or perhaps her Catholic faith- she doesn't specify- more on that below) because of Pope Francis' statements. Before I get into that, let me
give the back story.
Recently, Colin Collette -the gay
parish music director at Holy Family Parish in Inverness, Il was
fired when he became ‘engaged’ to his male partner. [The ‘engagement’ took
place outside St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome last week while the two men
were vacationing there.] When the gay
couple returned home and news of their ‘engagement’ was made public the Chicago
Archdiocese said Collettte could no longer retain his position as music
director.
The archdiocese is spot on. Unfortunately, because of Pope Francis’ “who
am I to judge” statement many Catholics today don’t agree with their priests
and Bishops who make similar statements about similar situations around the
world today. We’ve seen this with other parish firings around the nation.
One such case is Janet Zajler, a
parishioner at Holy Family who is now contemplating leaving the parish because the ‘engaged’
gay music director was fired and Janet is convinced that Pope Francis would
fully support the ‘engaged’ gay man remaining as music director at the Catholic
parish. Zajler has publicly stated to
local news media that the “Archdiocese is wrong”- because of course Janet Zajler a Holy Family parishioner is sure she knows better than the
Catholic Church.
Zajler says the archdiocese is wrong. “I am aware of our current pope’s outspoken truths regarding the
acceptance of every individual, and I am outraged that our local church diocese
is going against what I believe our pope is preaching about.”Now Zajler says, with Collette’s firing, she’s uncertain about
her family’s future in the parish.“I will be in thoughtful, prayerful repose,” she said. “I’m
unsure of where my husband and myself and my children will go after this.”
Thanks Pope Francis, you’ve been
a tremendous help teaching the Authentic Faith to the laity. Janet Zajler is a direct product of your off the cuff teachings - and unfortunately there are probably tens of thousands more like her in the world who will pass on what they believe Catholicism is to their children based on your flippant comments, rather than what the Church actually teaches. Instead of sticking with the catechism which is clear teaching, these people instead cling to off the cuff remarks as Gospel truth.
This is the fallout when Catholic clergy do not speak CLEARLY on AUTHENTIC CATHOLIC TEACHING. Souls are in jeopardy.

In my email box today, I received a link to a discussion over on the Catholic Answers forum and a link to a truly revolting anti-Catholic "game" app from Google Play.
The "game" is about a little boy trying his best not to get molested by a Catholic priest (Fr. Murphy). To avoid molestation the player must shoot wads of paper into the garbage bin.
If that isn't disgusting enough, the maker of the game ("Godly Games") goes even further with an image of Jesus Christ and the words "watch out for Jesus moving the bin, he wants you to get molested too!"

By Connecticut Catholic Corner An atheist attempts to prove to a Catholic priest that 1) the Bible is wrong and 2) God doesn't exist. The Catholic priest tells the atheist 1) the "Bible is full of fiction" 2) God did not create the world in a week and 3) "you're not supposed to take the Bible literally".
The impression I got (could be wrong) is that this priest thinks the entire Old Testament is pure fiction, with made up stories to be used to prove Jesus is the Christ in the New Testament. (Not sure how anyone can or would want to use fiction to prove a Truth, but this priest seems to think he's making his case that way.) I was very disappointed with the priest denying what God commanded the Jews under the Old Covenant to do (stoning, death penalty etc.). The priest does this a lot when the atheist mentions the Leviticus Laws. Just own up to it Father! It's in the Bible, God commanded it under the Old Covenant. Period! The priest insists over and over again that it is the "culture" that determined things like stoning- he completely ignores and rejects the fact that God DID command people to be stoned if they were found guilty of certain sins. Its in the Bible NOT because of "culture" but because it's God's Word. I do give kudos to the priest for TRYING to educate the atheist on 'free will' but sadly, the atheist still doesn't understand it. Of course he's not alone, even the Christian Calvinists don't understand "free will". What do you think of the discussion? I wish the discussion had continued...perhaps the atheist will meet with the priest again and record that meeting as well. Since the atheist has such a problem with the Old Testament, I would suggest he also try speaking with a Rabbi about those Leviticus Laws. ...at least this doesn't appear to be happening DURING Mass although the news article covering the story seems to indicate Fr. Pepe often breaks out his dance moves(see link below) in and outside his parish church.

From what I can gather, this Catholic nun, Sister Chakupaleza is being beaten (this is graphic) by a teacher at the Catholic school they both work for.
Apparently, Sister Chakupaleza was following orders to lock the doors of a rental house used by science teacher Mr. Daswell Sichilongo because he owed them back rent. The nun did what she was told and was terribly beaten for it.
When Mr. Daswell finally gets into the building (shown in the video), he proceeds to violently punch and kick the Catholic nun who tries to get away and avoid his vicious blows.
Quote: "Sister Emma Chakupaleza, an acting head teacher at Roma Girls Secondary School was battered 3 days ago after locking the house occupied by Mr. Daswell Sichilongo, a Science teacher at the same school."
The violent science teacher was eventually arrested for assault- which he attempted to deny (must not have known he was video taped beating the poor nun.
Soon after, Father Kunda a spokesperson for the school made the following statement:
Quote: "ZEC spokesperson Father Winfield Kunda says the violent beating of defenceless Reverend Sister Emma Chakupaleza for executing her duty by a fellow teacher was uncalled for and deserves serious condemnation from all well-meaning Zambia especially in this day when gender based violence has no place in society. Father Kunda says in a society where restraint and mutual dialogue no matter the provocation is being preached, it was expected of Mr.Daswell Sichilongo to control himself unlike resorting to violence especially that he is a teacher who should not only teach science subjects but also morals to his pupils. He says what he portrayed especially on Camera for a widely watched TV station deserves condemnation. Father Kunda adds that to make matters worse, this uncalled for actions have even gone viral on social media and shall be there forever further exposing the Reverend Sister whose noble vocation to serve the entire humanity to more embarrassment and pain."
I wonder if Mr. Sichilongo would have treated the priest with violence if it has been the priest who locked the door rather than a nun?
God have mercy. I pray the nun is now doing well and recovering from her injuries.

About once a year I find myself in opposition to something Michael Voris says (most of the time I think he is spot on and an excellent teacher of the Faith - I highly recommend watching his 'Talks' videos).
Sadly today is one of those rare occasions when I disagree with
Michael Voris.
God love you Michael Voris for trying to be the calm in the
chaos of Pope Francis’ wake yet again, but I think you’ve got it wrong- at
least partly wrong.
Today Voris put out an episode of the Vortex telling
Catholics to ‘take a chill pill’ and wait a few days each time Pope Francis
opens his mouth so that the Vatican has time to come out with numerous
statements clarifying what the Pope MEANT to say.
Got that?
Don’t listen to what the Pope says; only pay attention to
what the Vatican tells you Pope Francis MEANT to say.
That is the SAD reality of our Catholic Church today. We've got a pope problem and the only answer some are giving is 'ignore him'.
For months, especially this last week, Catholic writers and bloggers (some of them priests)
have been suggesting Catholics “IGNORE THE POPE” because he's causing chaos and division within the Church. And now it seems Michael Voris
is telling us the same thing, but for a different reason.
Voris quote: "Did you hear the reports saying the Pope said God doesn’t
REALLY exist? Or did you see the headline that said the Pope said all that
matters is overthrowing world economic markets? Those
might as well be the headlines, because they are just about as valid as any of
the stuff being trotted out under the banner “WHAT THE POPE SAID TODAY”.Really,
this nonsense has got to stop. From Rome on down to the Catholic blogasterium, to
the secular press to Catholics on Facebook and so forth.This
pope has an off-handed way of talking. Ok. Does he guard his every word and consider
that he should be much more circumspect in what he says and to whom? It’s clear
its not his style. No, he doesn’t do that.He
talks a lot – and that’s who he is. And he has perhaps in little more than a
year, become
the most ill-quoted and misrepresented Pope in the history of the Church.Does
he need to stop talking to so many people in such an off-handed fashion. That argument
could be made somewhat easily. But face it, he aint gonna do that.So,
Catholics around the world need to stop going crazy andjust ignore much of
this reporting
until a few days have gone by after a reported strange comment."-end quote-
The issue for me, isn't what the media says, its what the pope ACTUALLY says..."who am I to judge"..."make a mess"...‘The most serious of the evils that afflict the world these days are youth unemployment and the loneliness of the old". And what about what he's done? Washing women's (and Muslims) feet during Holy Week? I KNOW Voris objects to that (because its WRONG), he's voiced his disapproval for priests who wash women's feet numerous times. These things are a problem, and this problem will not go away by ignoring it.
Many Catholics (bloggers, Facebook, Twitter or other social media junkies etc) are voicing their confusion because we WANT someone to tell us ‘it
ain’t so!” but most of the time the Vatican can’t even do that because these ‘interviews’
are done with no proof of what was actually said.
So we either call the person doing
the interview a liar (maybe they are, we don’t know) or we point out the fact
that the Pope continues to put HIMSELF in a position to BE confusing.
When the pope does that, Catholics (on blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc) should NOT be blamed for freaking out. It's not our fault this stuff comes out of his mouth constantly causing us to feel confused and disappointed and quite frankly nervous.
Voris says: What’s the moral of the story. Forget the headlines, forget the blogs by the Church of Nice crowd, forget the knee jerk stupidity and just chill out and wait for the ACTUAL facts, or correct translation, or appropriate clarification to be issued.
I am really surprised at Voris for basically stating that Catholics should ignore everything that comes out of the pope’s
mouth because only the Vatican can correctly interpret the Holy Father. That the laity must sit back and wait for the
Vatican to tell us what the pope means.
Really Michael?
Is that where we are now? Am I misunderstanding Voris here?
I understand the other Catholic bloggers who say 'ignore the pope because he's not THE FAITH and he can't change dogma so why worry', but I don't understand being told to ignore the pope because we must wait for the Vatican tell us what the pope MEANT to say.
Has this ever before happened in our Church history? That a pope could not speak for himself
because no one but the Vatican could understand him?
The problem is, ignoring the head of the Holy Catholic
Church is NOT easy- especially when he scares you.
I don’t know Michael Voris personally, but have followed his
web shows for years now and watched more of his Youtube Catholic teaching
videos than I can count.
But to be honest, I get the feeling from listening to Voris
for so many years that he isn’t any happier with the current pope than most of
the rest of us. (I say this because I recently listened to a talk he gave
called “Satan’s Defeat” (excellent by the way) which took place after Pope Benedict resigned, in which
Voris was asked who he wished would be our next pope and Voris said Cardinal Raymond
Burke whom he wished would take the name Pope Leo XIV- clear indicator he was
wishing for a very orthodox, straight talking, no confusion holy pope-like many
of us). (note Voris' comment is the final few seconds of the video)
He tells us not to have a 'knee jerk' reaction to the pope, but if I were a betting person I would bet Voris has had his own knee jerk moments because of the pope- he just refuses to do so publicly. I get a visual of Voris doing a face
plant each time Pope Francis does an “interview/non-interview” as the tsunami
of chaos ripples over the world. Once he
prays and calms down he has to get to work figuring out how he’s going to steer
through the latest storm the Holy Father has unleashed on the world with his
next Vortex episode. I admire him for
trying and respect him tremendously for NOT going against his view that
publicly criticizing a pope is wrong.
Where I disagree with Voris this time, is in laying the
blame on the laity and even the media for freaking out when we hear or read
what the Holy Father has said. If this
was JUST that the media was at fault for taking something out of context
(like with Pope Benedict and the “condom” incident) Voris would have a point. But the issue is Pope Francis himself- he's purposely putting himself CONTINUALLY in the position to cause chaos.
There are NO MORE excuses for Pope Francis on this- at least
in MY opinion.
Pope Francis gives the first interview and chaos
erupts. The interview was on the Vatican
website, then taken down from the Vatican website and yesterday it’s back up on the
Vatican website and then taken down TODAY- again.
Chaos and confusion.
The Pope does a second interview and the world goes into a
tailspin over it. The Vatican (as Voris
points out) has to AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN come out with statements to calm
the Catholic world by telling us basically NOT to listen to anything Pope
Francis says, just wait for the Vatican to tell you all what he actually MEANT
to say.
And last week Pope Francis has done it again.
More chaos and confusion.
Voris puts a lot of the blame on Catholics for freaking out
and the media for misunderstanding or misinterpreting the Pope.
Well WHEN is the Pope going to be responsible for what HE
says and does?
Why is everyone else getting
blamed for what HE says? What he’s said
at times IS scary. We have a legitimate
reason for our unease with this Pope.
Pope Francis said he wanted "a mess" and he's doing a fantastic job of creating a mess in the Church.
Are we in for YEARS of one mess after another?
This "mess" is on the Pope, not the laity.
If he cared about the confusion and chaos suffered (and it
is suffering) by the Catholic laity he would STOP doing these
interview/non-interviews, but apparently he’s MORE concerned with his own
pleasure in being interviewed, rather than what is best for the Church.
He’s got a priority problem.
And we the Church have a
pope problem.
Some people don’t want to
say what needs saying, but it’s the truth.
We have a pope problem.
It’s an
easy fix, just STOP giving off the cuff interviews/non-interviews. Stick to pre-written statements that the
Vatican has looked over to make sure there will be NO chaos or confusion. That way we won't have to wait days for the Vatican to explain what the pope MEANT rather than what he said.
Sadly, I don't think Pope Francis will change for the good of the Church. He wants a 'mess' and he's determined to continue making a mess within the Church. That's a problem we can't ignore.
I pray someone at the
Vatican will fix it and be able to clean up Pope Francis' mess.
God help us and give us clarity where we have a mess of chaos and confusion.

Since Pope Francis has joined the ‘conversation’ about the
tens of thousands of illegal immigrant children flooding into the United States
I am going to get political for a moment.I am sure this will be extremely unpopular with most, but I really don’t
care.I’m fed up so I am going to rant.
The Pope says the ILLEGAL immigrants must be “welcomed and
protected”.
Certainly we want them
protected, but why would we ‘welcome’ uninvited ‘guests’ whom we can’t afford
to care for, who bring sickness and disease, and who deplete our school systems
and funds for the poor who are LEGALLY here?
This is an INVASION (as in UNWANTED), not an open border invitation to
migration!
These are NOT 'refugees' no matter how much a bleeding heart liberal wants to spin it that way.
I am not totally insensitive to these children, it’s a sad
situation, but the answer is NOT allowing tens of thousands of ILLEGAL
immigrants to walk into the United States and stay here. We simply can not be an open border nation that
allows anyone and everyone to simply walk over the border and live here. We have laws.
If someone wants to come live here DO IT LEGALLY.
And I have to ask Pope Francis, 'just who are YOU to judge us'?
Perhaps the Holy Father will welcome them to Vatican
City??
I think that is a grand idea!
Grab some petty cash from the Vatican Bank, send it to the
United States and we will HAPPILY put them all on planes to the Vatican.
How about that Holy Father?

words of Jesus, "Why do you not know how to interpret the present time?"(Lk
12,57).Despite the large influx
of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is
still seen as an emergency, or as a sporadic and circumstantial fact, while
instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge. That it is a phenomenon carries with it great promise and many
challenges. Many people suffer forced to emigrate, and often, die tragically;many of their rights are violated,
they are obliged to separate from their families and, unfortunately, continue
to be the subject of racist and xenophobic attitudes.Faced with this situation, I repeat what I have Affirmed in this
year's Message for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees: "A change
of attitude towards migrants and refugees is needed on the part of everyone,
moving away from attitudes of defensiveness and fear, indifference and

blackberries just and fraternal world." I would also like to draw attention to the tens of thousands of

Since I am sure our Holy
Father has no intention of caring for even a single illegal immigrant child or
cranking open the Vatican Bank to help pay for them, I suggest the following…
1)Send
back ALL the children/teens/adults we can (that is, if we can find the
families).
2)Put the
United States military on our borders (as should have happened after 9/11) and
REFUSE access to illegal immigrants WITH THE EXCEPTION of human sex trafficking.
3)The children,
who arrived with adults to care for them, send them to inner cities with
abandoned houses. The Federal government
will have to cough up the funds to fix up these abandoned properties (they are
crime dens when left abandoned anyway) and allow them to live there WHILE THEY
WORK. If they don’t find a job on their
own, they can work cleaning the streets of the cities they want the right to live in.
4)ALL
illegal immigrant children who REMAIN in the United States (through foster care or adoption or with a parent) MUST JOIN THE
MILITARY AND SERVE FOR AT LEAST FOUR YEARS to EARN their “RIGHT” to be here
when they turn 18 years old. Refuse and you are deported on your 18th birthday.
5)They
do NOT get the RIGHT to vote until AFTER they have served four years in the
military- they must EARN it because they came here illegally.
6)If
they refuse any of these terms, we DUMP THEM on the Mexican border and forbid
them from EVER coming back or becoming residents of the United States of
America. Period.
Too harsh? I don’t think so. These people are TAKING/STEALING from ALL
legal United State’s citizens the moment they entered ILLEGALLY. They are bringing sickness and disease that
harm OUR legal citizens. They want to be
here illegally? Let them pay and pay
well for it so that others will soon know it is no vacation to enter the United
States illegally.
Enter legally and you have
all the freedoms and rights of a United States citizen, come illegally and you
will pay for it dearly for many years.
And let’s be clear, these
people are FLOODING our borders now, NOT to escape some sudden outbreak of violence, but rather because they heard a twisted version of Obama’s “DACA” policy to allow the
children of illegal immigrants ALREADY LIVING HERE to stay and become citizens. The families of these children believe that Obama opened the borders to all kids and promised to make them U.S. citizens. THAT is why they are flooding into this country now. So the Holy Father's statement about people being "forced to migrate" is WRONG and has ZERO to do with the reason illegals are coming into the United States right now.
The 10-page July 7 report was issued by the El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC), which according to the Justice Department website is led by the DEA and incorporates Homeland Security. Its focus is on the collection and distribution of tactical intelligence, information which can immediately be acted on by law enforcement.
"Of the 230 migrants interviewed, 219 cited the primary reason for migrating to the United States was the perception of U.S. immigration laws granting free passes or permisos to UAC (unaccompanied children) and adult females OTMs (other than Mexicans) traveling with minors,” the report said.
Pray for this nation and for the illegal immigrants- pray that they go home and are welcomed and protected in their own homeland. Pray that LEGAL immigrants always find the United States of America welcoming and protecting of them and THEIR RIGHT to be here- they earned it legally.

I just don’t understand Fr. Robert Barron at all. I know of Fr. Barron from his appearances on EWTN, his assorted DVD's and his "Word on Fire" series. I did not expect to see him support a teen movie that clearly goes against Catholic teaching for Catholic parents. As a Catholic parent, I read A LOT about what the Church teaches and has taught on Catholic parenting. One thing is very clear, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ALLOW YOUR CHILDREN TO BE SUBJECTED TO (this includes books, movies, television shows, video games etc.). So when I saw Fr. Barron make a Youtube video ENDORSING the movie "The Fault in our Stars" I was not only shocked but extremely disappointed in Fr. Barron. This is another example of the Church teaching one thing and a priest doing the opposite.
How can a priest put his stamp of approval on a movie that
1) takes the name of the Lord in vain, 2) depicts fornication (two teens having
sex), and 3) uses terms like “a$$hole” and “bulls**t” and “freaking douche”? Is this what Fr. Barron (according to his Youtube video) wants our Catholic youth watching? Really?
The movie “The Fault in our Stars” is about two teens
dealing with cancer and what, if anything awaits them (all of us) after death. But the issue I have is what else is included in the story- as mentioned above.

parents make him watch television in the living room rather than in the
basement when he first brings Hazel to his house. Hazel's mother has devoted
herself to taking care of her daughter. She insists Hazel attend the support
group when she thinks Hazel is depressed. Later, Hazel discovers that her
mother has been taking courses from a college and that she will soon get her
degree in counseling so she can help other families in similar situations to
theirs. Although Hazel's mother accompanies them to Amsterdam, she has no
hesitation about leaving Hazel and Augustus alone. In fact, they have sex in
his hotel room while she explores the museums. Profanity/Graphic
violence: The
dialogue is laced with profanity.H---, b--ch, bulls--t, b--tardand a variation of the f-word are used. A--is used alone and withbad, holeandclown. God's name is used alone and withd--nandoh my. The phrase sweet holy Lordis used as well assweet Jesus
Christ. Other objectionable
words arep---, p---ed, sucks, freaking douche, dumbbutt crap,
gosh dang, boobsandboobies. The
only violence in the book is in the descriptions of the video game that
Augustus and Isaac like to play. There are some fairly graphic descriptions of
Hazel's and Augustus' illnesses. When Hazel is in the ICU, Augustus describes
the black cancer fluid being drained from her lungs. Augustus soils the bed and
vomits on himself as his body deteriorates. Kissing/Sex/Homosexuality: Isaac
and his girlfriend kiss outside the church after a support group meeting. Hazel
can tell that Isaac is feeling his girlfriend's breast while they kiss. Hazel's
friend alludes to wanting to have sex with Augustus. Hazel looks up pictures of
Augustus' old girlfriend on the Internet and sees several of the couple
kissing. Augustus jokes that he thinks his grand gesture of including her in
his wish should have gotten him laid. Augustus and Hazel kiss passionately in
Anne Frank's house. Later that afternoon they have sex in his hotel room. It is
intimated they have sex the following morning as well. When Augustus learns
that Isaac has a computer program that will read his emails, he tells him that
he'll send Isaac porn. After Augustus dies, Hazel and Isaac play his favorite
video game but tell the characters to do sexual things likehump the wallinstead of actually trying to win the game.
For me, this is NOT
something a Catholic priest should endorse.
I am very disappointed in Fr. Barron for the grave scandal his endorsement might give to our youth.
Catechism: #2353 -Fornication is carnal union between an unmarried man and an unmarried woman. It is gravely contrary to the dignity of persons and of human sexuality which is naturally ordered to the good of spouses and the generation and education of children. Moreover, it is a grave scandal when there is corruption of the young.

PS - fans of the book who want to tell me about the "love" the book and movie depict can save your rantings and hate mail- you won't change my mind. Anyone who fornicates and doesn't repent is GOING TO HELL. Fornication depicted in books and movies is CORRUPTING society. That isn't love, it is hate. Catholic priests, laity and parents NEED to teach that reality, not the misguided lie that 'if its love God is ok with it'. If you love someone, you don't fornicate with them. God is NEVER ok with fornication- its a mortal sin that sends people to hell. Period.
