Cardinal Burke, Church Militant and me

LifeSiteNews“Certainly, Pope Saint John Paul II consecrated the world, including Russia, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25, 1984,” said Cardinal Burke. “But, today, once again, we hear the call of Our Lady of Fatima to consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart, in accord with her explicit instruction.”
Cardinal Burke is calling for the Pope to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary AS OUR LADY instructed- not how Pope Saint JPII did it - the whole world which included Russia. That was nice, but that wasn't what Our Lady instructed the pope to do.

This has been a bone of contention among Catholics for decades now.

Last summer Church Militant and I went a few rounds over this issue in the comments area of their website and then they removed my comments. I wrote about it in my post "Sometimes you just gotta laugh and let it go".

I stated that the consecration of Russia was not done as instructed by our Lady and was in fact rejected several times before Sr. Lucy finally said it was accepted and I gave Church Militant EWTN's own link- which Church Militant said to use for a source.

Not liking my comment they removed it and told me I was "causing doubts" among Catholics for saying basically the same thing Cardinal Burke is now saying (see link).

That was part of the exchange from July 8, 2016 under the Vorex episode "Rome Be Damned".

What a difference a year makes...

My comment July 2016:

Church Militant's moderator to me July 9, 2016:

Now we have Cardinal Burke (whom is well liked by the good folks at Church Militant) saying the same thing "in accord with her explicit instruction", that's what I said in Church Militant's comments.

Suddenly now Church Militant is singing a different tune:
Church Militant: "Burke clarified that he's not aiming to cast doubt on the merits of the May 25, 1984 consecration by Pope St. John Paul II of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, but called again for an explicit consecration of Russia by name, together with the world's bishops. A consecration, which fulfills all of those conditions, has not yet been accomplished."
Now I am not complaining about this change of tune by the good folks at Church Militant. To be sure, I am thrilled they now agree that Our Lady's instructions were not followed properly. I just hope they will explain this to their viewers as some people might be wondering what it is that has changed for them that they are saying something very different now than just last summer. Is it because Cardinal Burke says so? Was that all it took? I have to admit, I am curious to know what it was that changed their minds.

***Several days ago I left a comment on Church Militant's website asking them what changed their minds about this...I guess I am not getting an answer:

UPDATE: Church Militant has responded...they say nothing changed their minds...?

Catholic Prophecy

A friend sent me a small Catholic prophecy book a while back that I want to share today.

I enjoyed the quotes from Saints, popes, mystics and assorted Catholic clergy and visionaries.

After each quote is a comment by the author about what the prophecy might mean - take this with a grain of salt.

Overall, I found the book enjoyable and interesting because of the numerous Saint, mystic and Pope quotes within it.

The opening page sums up what is contained within the numerous prophecy quotes in the book.

Catholic Prophecy by Yves Dupont [published 1973]

The Coming Chastisement

Precisions on the Great Disaster

General Events

*Not a two-camp war, but a multi-sided war.
*Not a war only, but a world-wide revolution as well.
*Not simply a man-made holocaust, but also a God-sent chastisement, accompanied by cosmic disturbances.
*To last about four years.

Particular Events

The whole world will be involved in the fighting. A unique feature is the internal disintegration of the Western democracies and the invasion of Western Europe by Arab forces.

The roles of the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. are not clear in the beginning. The U.S.A. may be involved in the Far-East or at home or both. The U.S.S.R. may want to keep out of the fray at first, while abetting the Arab world, or may be involved in Siberia.

Civil wars rage in Western Europe. The Church is persecuted; the Pope leaves Rome and dies in exile; an anti-pope is installed in Rome; the Catholic Church is split, leaderless and completely disorganized. Communism is victorious. The Mohammedans invade Europe and commit innumerable atrocities.

In the West, however, Christians rally around and unexpected leader, and army officer of royal blood, but their chances seem very slim.

The natural disturbances begin: floods, droughts, famines.

A comet approaches the earth; Whole mountains split open; huge tidal waves swallow up low-lying lands; stones fall from the sky; a deadly fog or gas poisons the atmosphere; a prolonged darkness envelopes the earth. Two-thirds or three-fourths of the human race is wiped out.

The powers of evil are shattered. The Christian Prince leads his growing army to battle and wins victory upon victory. In West Germany he crushes a Germano-Russian army. Communism collapses everywhere. The Mohammedans are thrown back to the sea. The war is carried to Africa and the Middle East, where Arab Power is dealt a deadly blow. At this stage, if not earlier, U.S. troops come to the assistance of Western Europe.

Russia and China are converted to Catholicism, as also the Mohammedans. All non-Christians return to Mother Church. A holy Pope is elected; he shows great firmness; and he restores all the former disciplines in the Church.

All the nations of Western Europe unite and form a new Roman Empire, and accept as their emperor the great Christian Prince, chosen by God, who works hand in hand with the holy Pope. The triumph of the Catholic Church is universal.

The whole world enjoys a period of complete peace and unprecedented prosperity in mutual love and respect among people and nations.

This great peace will last until the coming of Antichrist. [end quote]

This summary is based on the author's views of the prophecies contained in the book - so make of it what you will. Some of the people quoted in the book include St. Pius X, Bishop Christianos Ageda, Abbot Joachin Merlin, St. Anthony of the Desert, Venerable Bartholomew Holzhauser, Anna-Katarina Emmerick, Bl. Anna-Maria Taigi, St. Margaret Mary, Fr. Balthassar Mas, St. Louis-Marie Grignion De Montfort and many, many others.

Interesting quotes.

Sometimes you just gotta laugh and let it go

Apparently Church Militant finds my comments problematic because lately they just keep removing them or editing them to keep the parts they like and remove the parts they don't like.  Go figure.

Here's how it happened...

First, on July 5th with their "SSPX Superior Isn't Primarily Seeking Reunion with the Catholic Church" article.

There were only about 8 comments last I had checked and left the following comments (which were removed and then the comments area closed completely).

I left this comment:

A Church Militant moderator responded...

so I responded with...

The EWTN article is HERE

And then they shut down the comments and removed all comments. I truly have no idea what happened there. Church Militant didn't leave any explanation on their website, so it's any one's guess.

Second Incident

Now today, I left a comment to another person on the Church Militant website in the "Rome Be Damned" Vortex area, about Fatima and the Consecration to Russia.

Here is the exchange...

To be clear, my comment was about the Consecration not being done properly, hence Sr. Lucy saying it was not done right 3 times! More on that coming up.

I then commented...

To which the Church Militant moderator responded to me...

And this comment:

To which I responded in an honest attempt to explain myself further and not offend anyone...

Apparently not liking that response Church Militant responded by this comment...
(**Just a little side note here on "causing doubts". I find this a bit ironic because of all the "doubts" caused by the "off-the-cuff" statements made by the pope (which EWTN addressed and Michael Voris rebuked them for), yet I have not yet heard CM say a word about those doubts caused by the pope to the laity. No concern for the confusion among the laity when its caused by the pope? I don't understand that, I really don't.)
...and then they edited my entire long comment above to these two sentences-which I guess they liked ;)

:)  LOL  That's really a far cry from my original comment that goes into detail using the links they provided to explain myself!

I told Church Militant that editing my comment in such a way was deceitful and to please remove my comment completely.  They did.

So, I still really don't understand what I did wrong or who I was causing "to doubt" when I quoted the EWTN link provide BY Church Militant.

*shrug*

That said, I don't want to trash talk the good folks at Church Militant. We are all in the same boat and we all want the same thing for our Church, we just have a different approached. This isn't a punch CM in the nose post, its just me having my FULL say on what happened here on my own blog, because Church Militant won't allow me that privilege (it's not my right- which the moderators will be quick to remind you) on their site.

So there it is, make of it what you want.

We will just have to agree to disagree on some subjects and approaches to issues facing the Church.  These are two of those subjects, not the first, and more than likely not the last.

God bless us all!

In Christ,

Julie @ Connecticut Catholic Corner

For the better part of the past year the Knights of Columbus museum has had an exhibit on Russian icons, “Windows into Heaven.”

There is a forthcoming lecture to open up the windows into heaven even more, “Orthodox Christianity in Early Russia: the Formation of a Tradition”  The lecture is presented by Paul Bushkovitch Ph.D.

Orthodox Christianity has been Russia’s pre-eminent religion for more than a millennium and is integral to the nation’s history and culture. Yale University history professor Dr. Paul Bushkovitch will discuss the origin and foundation of Russian Orthodoxy, which has endured attacks and repression throughout the past, most notably during the preceding century. Dr. Bushkovitch earned degrees from Harvard and Columbia Universities and has studied in Russia. He has been a member of the Yale faculty since 1975 and has published and lectured extensively on Russian history.

The Knights of Columbus Museum's exhibition of Russian icons, Windows into Heaven, runs through April 27, 2014. The museum is open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

***On a personal note, I LOVE visiting the Knights of Columbus Museum year round - it is never disappointing.  I highly recommend it, makes for a great FREE day trip for families (admission and parking are free!).

Pope John Paul II collection I saw a few years ago.
