Connecticut Catholic Blogger vs New York Catholic Blogger

I've never broken down another Catholic blogger's entire post before, but today I am going to for two reasons.

First, my response would never fit in this blogger's comment area.

Secondly, besides responding to what she says, I want to share with her why I blog as I do and why I feel the way I do about my Catholic faith, Francis and progressive clergy.

A Catholic blogger from New York, writes (highlights/bold/underscore added by me)
Why Do So Many Converts Reject Pope Francis?
In the same way I don't visit porn sites, racist sites, etc., I now stay away from almost all "Catholic" web sites.  These sites do nothing to build my spirituality and bring me closer to God.  They literally poison my mind and destroy the presence of the Holy Spirit by driving out the Spirit of love, mercy and compassion and replacing it with a spirit of accusation, condemnation and hate.

Me: For someone who doesn't visit these Catholic websites, she sure has a lot to say about what she claims is to be found on these Catholic websites.
An amazing aspect of these sites is that they are basically clones of one another, writing about the same subjects from the same point of view with no original thought.  As I have stated previously, it is almost like they were all written by the same person.  There is certainly no doubt that they are all driven by the same spirit.
Me: I am guessing she's not speaking about the Holy Spirit here.
I don't think these "catholic" bloggers actually consult each other, and yet they all manage to come to the same conclusion:  the Catholic Church is dying and Pope Francis and his "henchman" bishops are actively participating in that destruction.
Me: I haven't seen ANY Catholic bloggers conclude "the Catholic Church is dying". Myself and the Catholic websites I follow all generally cling to Christ's words "the gates of hell will not prevail". While we may agree that the Church will become smaller, I don't think I've ever seen any Catholic blogger say the Catholic Church is "dying". I do see (and believe myself) that "Francis and his henchmen" are destroying the FAITH OF PEOPLE with chaos, confusion and down right heresy.
Example, Address to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences10, Oct 27, 2014: Pope Francis-“When we read about Creation in Genesis, we run the risk of imagining God was a magician, with a magic wand able to do everything. But that is not so.”
Catholic teaching: “And Jesus beholding, said to them: With men this is impossible: but with God all things are possible” Matt 19:26
“Behold I am the Lord the God of all flesh: shall any thing be hard for me?” Jer 32:27
I'll stick with the God of Sacred Scripture rather than Francis' OPINIONS of God.
These bloggers and those who follow them believe they are the only true Catholics left on earth, and it is they who will save the Church and, by extension, the world.  We have not seen this much rebellion and rejection of authority in the Church since the Reformation.
Me: Nope. I don't believe we are the only "true Catholics left on earth", nor have I ever seen any other Catholic blogger make such a claim. Perhaps this Catholic NY blogger will share exactly who made such a claim? I believe that most of the Catholics in the United States are CEO's- Christmas and Easter only Catholics as that is when the pews are suddenly packed.

As for the weekly Catholics or even those attending monthly- many of them are confused and don't know the faith. I know this from experience. I know Catholics who claim birth control and abortion are "between them and God"- this is in direct opposition to Catholic teaching. I know Catholics who believe women will be priests and that there is nothing wrong with gay "marriage" or unions. Again, direct opposition to Catholic teaching. The list goes on.
Just how did these bloggers end up with their decidedly non-Catholic world view?  How have they become so confident in their own sanctity and their right to label all others, including the Vicar of Christ, as evil?  Why is it happening now?
Me: What part of my views are "non-Catholic"? When Catholic bloggers like myself, point out what the Church teaches- as opposed to the OPINIONS of Francis or any clergy, how is it WE are the ones with the "non-Catholic" views? 😕

For example, Francis stated in an interview there is no Hell. Clearly this is a "non-Catholic" view.
Interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica25, Mar 28, 2018: When asked where bad souls are punished, Francis replied: “They are not punished, those who repent obtain the forgiveness of God and enter the rank of souls who contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot therefore be forgiven disappear. There is no hell, there is the disappearance of sinful souls.”
Catholic teaching: Catechism #1035 The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, "eternal fire." 617 The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.
Some said, Francis was misquoted, yet neither Francis, nor anyone at the Vatican denied the quote or issued any sort of correction for it. So we know, Francis does not believe in Hell a clear "non-Catholic" view.

Another example, Francis' view on couples shacking up together outside of marriage.
Address to the Diocese of Rome’s Pastoral Congress, Q&A Session14, Jun 16, 2016: “They prefer to cohabitate, and this is a challenge, a task. Not to ask ‘why don’t you marry?’ No, to accompany, to wait, and to help them to mature, help fidelity to mature.”........ “I’ve seen a lot of fidelity in these cohabitations, and I am sure that this is a real marriage, they have the grace of a real marriage because of their fidelity.”
Catholic teaching: "The scandal of concubinage is removed by marriage, which should be made known to those who were scandalized, either by the pastor or by the parties themselves." Canon Law 1043
"Hence if both parties intended and expressed the intention in some way or other to enter upon a mere Concubinage, there would be no marriage." Canon Law 1082
"If a marriage is found invalid, as, for instance, among the Gallas, where slaves contract a contubernium or legalized concubinage, the parties must be separated until they are lawfully married" Canon Law 1084
"Therefore concubinage must be given up because incompatible with Christian morals" Canon Law 1124
Me: Again, I point out it is Francis who has the "non-Catholic" view, not the Catholic bloggers who cling to the authentic teachings of the Church.
One common factor among these self-righteous bloggers is that many, although not all, are Protestant converts.  Here are just a few prominent converts who have publicly rejected Pope Francis:  John Zuhlsdorf, Dwight Longenecker, George Rutler, Taylor Marshall, John Hunwicke, Steve Ray, Scott Hahn, Mary Ann Kreitzer.  There are many more.
In reading the stories of their conversions, it is interesting to note that their attraction to the Catholic Church did not arise from an awareness of their personal sin but from dissatisfaction with their Protestant churches.  They were basically in a good spot with God, but they were not getting what they felt they needed or wanted from their churches.  Their conversions were of the intellect and not of the spirit.  Not one of them has a  "road to Damascus" story.
By this, I mean not one of them had a moment of clarity about their own sinfulness and need for the mercy, compassion and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.   This was not the driving force in their lives in any sense.  Their stories are all about identifying the "right" Church.
Me: What this blogger does not understand is that evangelical Christians believe they are ALREADY saved. They are taught and believe that they are "washed" already the moment they claim Jesus as their Savior. That Jesus did the work. This is why they don't have confession and reject the priesthood. Most believe baptism is just an outward sign of proclaiming Jesus as your Lord.

Speaking as a convert to the Catholic Church it NEVER occurred to me to seek out another way to be forgiven from my sins because I believed God had already done that. I never questioned that part of my Protestant faith. Protestants don't think the way Catholics do about sin. There is no "mortal" or "venial" sin for evangelical Christians. Sin is sin and Jesus loves us so he forgives us our sins if we love him and believe him to be the Messiah. That is the attitude. They do not believe baptism washes away original sin- rather they believe merely believing in Jesus washes sins away (some don't even believe in original sin).

NY blogger says "not one of them had a moment of clarity about their own sinfulness and need for the mercy, compassion and forgiveness of Jesus Christ" - she has it all backwards. That is all Protestantism is about- that Jesus is all forgiving so no priest is needed for Confession. I came out of Protestantism that taught me Jesus is all "mercy, compassion and forgiveness" with no need to confess or worry about things like birth control, abortion, remarriage, divorce. In Protestantism you can divorce and remarry over and over and over again precisely because "Jesus is so forgiving and merciful". This is NOT right, yet it is believed inside of Protestantism.

I am not going to quote the examples NYblogger gives on Catholic's she points out as not having authentic Saul to Paul moments in their conversions, you can see them for yourselves on her blog. She turns up her nose at these people because in her opinion they aren't like Saint Augustine so they are lacking. Talk about being judgmental!
None of the contemporary "converts" listed above displays the humble spirit of the publican.  They all stand with the Pharisee.  In fact, they pat themselves on the back on their ability to identify the "right" Church.
And just as they felt free to reject the authority of their Protestant churches, they feel that same freedom to reject the authority of the Catholic Magisterium, i.e., Pope Francis and the bishops.
Me: Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. We do not "pat ourselves on the back" for becoming Catholic, we thank Jesus everyday for leading us Home. We were the lost sheep following false shepherds yet we were able with the help of the Holy Spirit to hear the voice of The Shepherd and come Home. We are joyful, thankful and down right giddy to have found our way Home after being lost in the desert for years. This is not "self-righteousness" at all. Perhaps cradle Catholics can't wrap their minds around it, but I know other converts know exactly what I am speaking of. And we are NOT rejecting the authority of the Catholic Magisterium or the Pope or the Bishops when they are teaching the Faith. We do NOT have to accept their OPINIONS on situations, events, people or places. What Catholics must do is accept the authentic teachings of the Church- if we reject a teaching we are heretics. (Remember it is Francis who rejects the Church's teachings on Hell, unmarried couples living together etc.)
This same spirit of self righteousness and rebellion is seen among cradle Catholic bloggers as well.  These bloggers never discuss their own sinfulness and need for God.  There is never any emphasis on mercy, compassion and forgiveness.  These sites name their enemies and denounce them with a ferocity worthy of any Pharisee denouncing Jesus Christ.
A good example of this is our old friend, Michael Voris.  Voris hid his sinful homosexual life for as long as he could, feeling it was a "private" matter.  During all that time, instead of showing compassion for others trapped in that same lifestyle, he condemned them to hell, showing no mercy whatseover.  Even now after he has been "outed", he continues to condemn without mercy.
This spirit of self righteousness and condemnation is the spirit of Protestantism.  It is completely antithetical to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Never once did Our Lord condemn sinners.  Jesus Christ always showed mercy, compassion and forgiveness.
Me: Wrong again NYblogger. First, Jesus' time for judging and condemning us hasn't come yet (John 16:8). Secondly, Jesus did point out sin, tell people they must repent and warn them about sinning again. When was the last time you heard Francis warn someone their sins would land them an eternity in Hell?

John 5:14 "Later Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you have been made well! Do not sin any more, so that nothing worse happens to you.”
Our Lord refused to condemn a woman who was caught in the actual act of adultery.  He did not even condemn the criminal on the cross who taunted him.  At the same time, he immediately forgave the criminal who merely said, "Remember me when you come into your Kingdom."
The spirit of rebellion and rejection of authority exhibited by these "catholic" bloggers is the same spirit which infected the ancient Israelites when they went to the Prophet Samuel and asked for a human king.  As The Lord told Samuel, "it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king." (I Sam 8:7).
Me: Jesus told ALL sinners to REPENT. Again, Christ's time to condemn people hasn't come yet. It will. That is what Judgement Day is.
This was echoed by Jesus Christ when He told the apostles, "Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me." (Luke 10:16).
Those More Catholic Than the Pope hate Pope Francis because he preaches a message of mercy and forgiveness of sinners.  Look at their arguments.  They are angry because the Pope wants to extend mercy to divorced and remarried, to homosexuals, to non Catholics, to Islamic refugees, etc. etc.  They claim that the mercy of Pope Francis is really a disguise for his endorsement of sin, and that therefore he is really a child of the devil, an evil heretic who must be resisted.
Sounds a whole lot like the condemnation leveled against Jesus Christ by the Pharisees of His time.
Me: Stop the bus! "They are angry because the Pope wants to extend mercy to divorced and remarried, to homosexuals, to non Catholics, to Islamic refugees, etc. etc", again myself and the Catholic bloggers I see are angry because Francis is teaching OPPOSITE of Catholic teaching.

It is NOT mercy to give Holy Communion to adulterers, or active homosexuals, non-Catholics etc. That is sacrilege. When Catholic bloggers point out Catholic teaching about homosexual relationships...

...we are not being mean, we are being Catholics! Christ said we are to rebuke those in sin [Luke 17:3 "Take heed to yourselves; if your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him;"] and the Catholic Church requires us to share our Faith, not keep it to ourselves. If we see someone in mortal sin and remain silent allowing them to be eternally damned we WILL have to answer for it- we ARE our brothers keepers.

Those More Catholic Than the Pope deal in a world of black and white.  Either you are righteous like they are and are going to heaven, or you are a sinner headed to hell.  They feel their job is to tell people they are sinners, and then it is up to the people to "get right" with God or go to hell.
Francis says we must meet people where they are and walk with them on the path to salvation.  This message is completely rejected by the Protestant converts and far too many cradle Catholics who think like Protestants.  I can't judge their hearts, but their actions are not Catholic,  They are Protestants in every sense of the word, right down to their rejection of the Papacy.
Me: Wrong again. First, no one is rejecting "the Papacy". Ridiculous. And the issue isn't "walking with people on the path to salvation" it is walking with them on the path to Hell. If the path led to salvation it would be wonderful. But that isn't what is happening.

Example, Francis appointed Fr. James Martin as consultor to the Vatican's Secretariat for Communications and invited Martin to be a speaker at the World Meeting of Families in Ireland last August to speak about homosexual Catholics. Yet Martin promotes pro-gay books which encourage gay "marriage" and gay couples which is in direct opposition to Catholic teaching.

He writes a book about "meeting LGBTQ people where they are" and crossing a "bridge" together. A bridge to where? Repentance? Does Martin tell LGBTQ people that gay "marriage" is a mortal sin that leads to eternal damnation? Nope. This is in direct opposition to Jesus who met the sinner, pointed out the sinner's sin and told the sinner to repent. This is what is wrong with "meeting people where they are"- Francis and clergy like Martin LEAVE them in their sins. They meet them where they are and abandon them to their sins. This is NOT Catholic.
What are the signs of true conversion?  It is much more than changing your religious affiliation and registering as a member of a Catholic parish.
A true convert is one who realizes that he cannot take credit for "finding" God.  God is the one who sought out and found him.  His repentance does not come from himself but is a gift from God.
A true convert realizes that he has nothing to give God, but that everything he has comes from God.
A true convert is not drawn to the Church because it looks spiritual.  A true convert is not converted to the physical trappings of the Church, whether it is the "right" architecture, the size of the altar, the quality of the music, the kind of vestments worn by the priest, the use of Latin, or which direction the priest is facing.
A true convert is drawn to the Catholic Church because Jesus Christ is in the tabernacle.  Jesus Christ is present in the Holy Eucharist.  Jesus Christ is present in the confessional.  Jesus Christ with His Mother, His angels and His saints are present at the Holy Mass. A true convert realizes that the Holy Spirit is working in the Church whether we understand it or not, and that faith does not depend on how much we do or do not understand.
A true follower of Jesus Christ is one who deeply and profoundly recognizes his own sinfulness and his complete and total need for the mercy and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.  A true convert realizes that he deserves hell and it is only through the love of God that he can escape hell.
In short, a true convert is a sinner in need of forgiveness.
All saints speak of their own sinfulness.  Even St. Therese of Lisieux, who never committed even one mortal sin in her 24 years on earth, felt the great heaviness of her sin and the great mercy of Jesus Christ:Like the publican, I felt I was a great sinner. I found God to be so merciful! I found it so touching to address oneself to the whole heavenly court to obtain God’s pardon through its intercession. Ah! I could hardly keep from crying, and when the Sacred Host touched my lips, I was really moved. One who has truly experienced the mercy and forgiveness of Jesus Christ will never stand in judgment of others.  A true convert will realize that he is no better than the one he is judging.  Pope Francis showed this understanding when, asked who Jorge Bergoglio is, he replied, "I am a sinner."
Unless and until we can identify as a sinner in need of forgiveness, we will never be true converts.
I hope and pray that the "catholic" blogosphere will experience true conversion and stop pushing their false version of Catholicism.[end NYblogger quote]
Me: The irony of NYblogger stating "One who has truly experienced the mercy and forgiveness of Jesus Christ will never stand in judgment of others."😂

Her entire diatribe was one long judgment of Catholic converts she judged as not "true converts" because we have failed HER litmus test. The hypocrisy!

In true sincerity, I hope this clarifies for the NYblogger (and others who share her opinions) why I and Catholic bloggers like myself feel as we do and blog as we do. We are weighing everything our clergy says and does-be it pope or parish priest- against the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church. We aren't basing our views on emotions or unsubstantiated opinions. We've got Catholic teachings (catechism, canon law etc) to backup our views.

Catholic converts usually do years of studying and digging around Catholic teachings before we are willing to admit Protestantism is a false man-made religion and that we must reject it and enter the Catholic Church. This is not an easy journey for most of us. On the journey we fall more and more in love with Catholicism (remember we already loved Jesus). Because of that love for Christ's Church we are willing to defend Her and Her teachings against anyone who would lie about Her or try to harm Her - especially wayward clergy because they do the most damage (ie Martin Luther).

In Christ,

Father James Martin strikes again

Father James Martin once more is promoting mortal sin and embracing gay lovers and "affirming" them in their gay sexual relationships. Gay "married" men, lesbian partners and parents of gay teens - all who need correction in the Faith, not heresy from Fr. James Martin.

Martin shared this tweet today...

My first question was "faith journey" to where?

Toward hell it seems. Not one story of a gay person struggling to live chaste and according to Catholic teaching. No. These people only seek out "others like them" who will "affirm" them in their sin.

My next question was why is Fr. Martin "proud" for this "spiritual resource"?

Because it mentions him (I get the impression this priest really, really likes flattery and attention) also, there is no word of gay relationships being a sin or the need to be chaste. So in other words, its just like his own book "Building a Bridge".

Of course it's heretical and has NO business being promoted or supported by ANY Catholic parish or priest, yet it is.

I opened the book up to this... 😕

The first story is of a gay man who is HIV positive from sex with numerous partners and does not believe the Church is correct in teaching homosexuals are called to be chaste. He rejects that teaching, yet still holds several positions in his parish, including Lector. He also joined a fraternity of Secular Franciscans.
And then there is the story of a man and his "husband"...

And here is this "married" gay man discovering Father James Martin's book "Building a Bridge"...

There are more stories...all of which never mention the Catholic Church's teachings on homosexuality as correct or positive or needed for salvation.  Nope, instead its full of gay partners who believe they are living true Catholic lives. They are deceiving themselves and others, but they aren't fooling God.

All these lesbian couples and other gay couples are happy to be in this "affirming" LGBTQ "ministry" - where no one tells them homosexual sex is a sin or that they are headed for Hell because to die in mortal sin is an eternity in Hell. Nope, *crickets* from the clergy on actual Church teaching. Rather they get the likes of Father James Martin promoting their sin stories to other Catholics. Encouraging them to remain in mortal sin and leading others who see Martin's support of this, into sin. This is despicable.

May God help them to reject their embracing of homosexual relationships and live chaste lives as the Church teaches.

And to think, Fr. Martin was asked by the Vatican to speak at the World Meeting of Families in Ireland...God help everyone who listens to this heretical priest. Shame on Pope Francis for promoting this priest. It's scandalous.

In Christ,

Of course gay couples are welcome at the World Meeting of Families

At a press conference in Ireland, Archbishop Eamon Martin was questioned by TheJournal.ie about homosexuals and homosexual couples attending the World Meeting of Families coming up in August.

The Journal.ie asks: "Are gay members of the Church welcome, are they and their partners welcome to join and volunteer together?"

Here comes the "don't ask, don't tell response" from the Archbishop who apparently thinks the sin of scandal isn't anything to worry about.

Archbishop Eamon Martin replies: "I have absolutely no idea that anyone would be asked their sexual orientation becoming a volunteer...but I imagine that all of these here attending the World Meeting of Families as visitors, as participants...um, the difference here is that we don't necessarily reveal our particular sexuality you know when we're coming along to any event. I imagine it's the same for the World Meeting of Families."

The Journal.ie asks again: "Are they welcome?"

Archbishop Eamon Martin: "Of course! At the World Meeting of Families this is a gathering of people to whom everyone is welcome. I know the families who are going there will be the last to say they are perfect in any way. I mean, even in terms of living up to the teaching of the Church. We all struggle in that. The Bishop has struggle in that, I'm welcome I hope at the World Meeting of Families- but so is everyone where they are at in their particular journey of faith."

Oh here we go...acting like homosexual COUPLES are struggling "in terms of living up to the teaching of the Church"- they REJECT the teaching of the Church and are pushing to change the Church's teaching on marriage. We all know that. Their "particular journey of faith" is to change the faith of the Catholic Church so they can stay in their mortal sin. These homosexual couples (not homosexual chaste individuals who accept the Church's teachings) don't want to be confronted with the Church's teaching- they don't want to hear they must be chaste and that any gay union is mortal sin. And with Father James Martin being invited by the Vatican, they won't hear anything to disturb them in their sin. More on that later.

Archbishop Eamon Martin continues: "And I would hope...I mean, it's also a Catholic event. The World Meeting of Families is a Catholic event so I don't think we make any apologies for the fact that the whole Church has a very clear teaching on marriage and on the family. And Amoris Laetitia will guide the reflections at the World Meeting of Families. So I imagine, that people going there will know what they are going to and hopefully respect what they are going to, but still bring their experience, bring their struggles, bring their questions, their challenges and of course in happiness and joy a fulfillment of their family life to the discussion."

This brings up the question, why oh why did the Vatican invite Father James Martin- a priest who is pro-homosexual unions, to speak at a World Meeting of Families?

Day three of World Meeting of Families:
Presentation 3:  Theme: Showing welcome and respect in our Parishes for LGBTQI+ People and their Families.Presenter: Fr James Martin S.J., Editor-at-large, Jesuit Magazine America

Fr. James Martin's idea of "welcome and respect in our Parishes for LGBTQ people and their families" is pure scandal. He believes openly gay couples should be allowed to hold all sorts of positions in parishes (I address this issue in my review of his book "Building a Bridge"). This is wrong. People in OPEN sin are not to be in positions in parishes to cause scandal or confusion to others.

Would the Catholic Church allow a porn star to be an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister? One would hope not because clearly such a person is living in public sin - (fornication). The same must be said of homosexual couples. A same sex couple living in a union or "marriage" is just as much a scandal as a porn star holding a position in the Church because both are guilty of openly living in mortal sexual sin. It would look as though the Church were putting its stamp of approval on such a person's behavior- as if sexual immoral behavior were no longer a sin. This would be a scandal and cause confusion among the faithful.

Catholic clergy needs to do more to protect the faithful against scandal and confusion caused by other clergy who refuse to speak clearly about sexual mortal sins- all mortal sins for that matter. The message in word and actions, must be clear that public sinners, be they porn stars or people living in homosexual unions, divorced and remarried outside the Church or anything else, must NOT hold positions in parishes for the good of the faithful.

How can the Catholic Church, whose authentic teaching is, "respect for homosexual persons cannot lead in anyway to the approval of homosexual behaviour or to legal recognition of homosexual unions" invite a priest to speak at the World Meeting of Families who has stated on video "...he [gay friend Mark] came out and has been with his partner for 20 years. His partner has a fairly serious illness that is, at times, extremely serious and requires a lot of attention. Mark has cared for him for, I think, 15–20 years now. And one of the questions I would like the institutional Church to reflect on is: "Is this not love?"..."I do not understand how a person could say the following things: This is not love, this is a lesser love, they should be apart, they should have never met, they should never be together."

Reverence for fornicators? This is the priest the Vatican has chosen to speak at the World Meeting of Families in Ireland. This isn't the message any Catholic faithful should be hearing from Catholic clergy- yet this is what they will be fed. Heresy.

It's a scandal. And its disgusting.

Pope Francis should be ashamed of himself. He keeps promoting and elevating Fr. James Martin in the public eye- causing more confusion and scandal among the faithful.

In Christ,

Julie @ Connecticut Catholic Corner

Georgetown Professor explains how the Eucharist is insignificant

In yet another podcast on This Is Catholic, (this name is truly misused, as most of what is being said is anything but Catholic) Professor Joseph Jensen explains how the Eucharist (the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ) is made "insignificant".

If you haven't seen yesterday's post "Catholic Professor says Jesus was prejudice and broken until he was cured by a woman" I would suggest taking a look as that is podcast 1 from Professor Joseph Jensen.

In podcast 1.2 Jensen suggests that any man or woman can change the bread and wine into the Eucharist. (He has a very twisted, Protestant actually, view of the Real Presence).
Matthew 18:20 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA) 20 "For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
His theology is that "the Real Presence is bigger than just the Eucharist". He twists scripture to say that "where ever two or three are gathered in my name" (Matthew 18:20) is the same "Real Presence" as the Eucharist at any Catholic parish. That there is no difference between the Consecrated Host (the real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus) and every human being walking the earth because Jesus is with us all. This is what many Protestant communities teach because they reject the Catholic interpretation of John 6 and all the Catholic Church has taught on the subject for over two thousand years.

He says, "If you worship the bread and wine as the Real Presence of Jesus, but then can't see the real presence of Jesus in the person next to you or the people around you, the bread and wine is totally insignificant."

Big problem here, Jensen refers to the Consecrated Host as "bread and wine", indicating he has serious issues with Church teaching on the Eucharist. That's a really big problem for any Catholic, but especially for a Permanent Roman Catholic Deacon and professor at Catholic institutions!

Jensen continues saying, "It [the Real Presence] is ONLY significant in terms of where two or three are gathered in the midst, and only significant in the living word that has been proclaimed- you've heard and then you go out and proclaim..." He's speaking here of the readings at Mass.

He finishes with his final opinion on when the Eucharist is significant by saying, "...and its only significant in you becoming the real presence of Jesus so that your words are Jesus' words, your actions are Jesus' actions and that begins to mend the brokenness in the same way that Jesus, in the time he was physically present on earth as the human that lived and died and is now resurrected and present in believers continuing to do exactly what Jesus did back then. That is what the Eucharist is about."

Oh dear, where to begin?

The Eucharist does not stop being the Real Presence (Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity) of Christ if we mere humans fail in our words and our actions. The Eucharist is not dependent on us, we are dependent on the Eucharist to nourish our souls and give us the graces we need.

Jensen says "in the time he [Jesus] was physically present on earth"... For goodness-sake! Jesus IS physically present on earth in the Eucharist, that is basic Catholic teaching!
"Christ held Himself in His hands when He gave His Body to His disciples saying: 'This is My Body.' No one partakes of this Flesh before he has adored it."- St. Augustine
Professor Jensen wants open Holy Communion for all people, not just Catholics. He says "closed communion invalidates the whole meaning of Eucharist and it invalidates the whole meaning of communion."

Again, nothing we do by our words or actions "invalidates" the Sacred Host.

Yet this [closed communion] is something many Catholics are confused about. I've heard this from many progressive Catholics. My suggestion, read Saint Paul in Scripture...
1 Cor. 27 "Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself."
...and the Saints/Doctors of the Church to get a better understanding of just what you are doing when you receive Christ in the Eucharist.

Jensen is clearly poorly formed in the faith or a heretic who was rightly taught the Faith but rejects it, protesting Her teachings as so many Protestants have done. Either way, he's not teaching the authentic Catholic Faith.

Here is the authentic teaching of the Eucharist...
"Holy Eucharist is a sacrament instituted by Our Lord Jesus Christ, and contains our adorable Saviour Himself, under the appearance of bread and wine. The day before His Passion, Jesus Christ took bread into His sacred hands, blessed it, and changed it by His almighty power into His own Body and Blood. 'Take,' said He to His Apostles, 'take and eat ye of this; FOR THIS IS MY BODY.' And when they had communicated, He took a chalice of wine, blessed it, saying, 'Take and drink ye all of this; FOR THIS IS MY BLOOD, the blood of the new and eternal testament, which shall be shed for you and for many, to the remission of sins.' Then He gave to His Apostles, who thus became the first priests, the command and the power to do what He Himself had done, to change the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. 'And you,' he added, 'as often as ye do these things, ye shall do them in remembrance of Me.' Ever since that time, the Apostles, and their legitimate successors, the bishops and priests of the Catholic Church, have every day, when celebrating Mass, consecrated bread and wine; and it is this bread and wine, miraculously changed into the Body and Blood of our Lord, that we call the sacrament of Holy Eucharist, or the Blessed Sacrament. To communicate is to receive the sacrament of Holy Eucharist, or, in other words, it is to receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, really present, though hidden beneath the veils of the sacred Host. This Body is verily the same Body that was once upon this earth, but is not under the same conditions. In the Holy Eucharist it is in a glorified condition, and is thus immeasurably removed from the grossness of the natural and earthly body. To make a good communion is to receive Jesus Christ with right dispositions; to make a bad communion is to receive Him with evil dispositions. The first, the noblest, holiest, and most sublime action of which a creature is capable, for it is to unite one's self to God. The last is a terrible sacrilege, by which we betray Jesus Christ, like Judas, with a kiss." That teaching is not what Professor Jensen is teaching. Jensen tells engaged couples that he councils before marriage, "to have one meal a week where they talk about scripture and life and have a Eucharist meal - cause Jesus can show up anywhere, don't worry about not being ordained - and treat this meal as you would the Eucharist." Jensen promises that this homemade Eucharist meal "can be more effective than what you find at Mass."

"more effective"??? 😕

"If angels could be jealous of men, they would be so for one reason: Holy Communion."- St. Maximilian Kolbe

The stuff Jensen is peddling is pure Protestantism. This is NOT Catholic teaching. You cannot find the Real Presence of Christ in your cheese burger and french fries!

I am floored this man is teaching in any Catholic institute. This is scandalous and so sad. How many well meaning Catholics have looked to him for answers because of his position at these institutes or because he is a Deacon only to be fed heretical nonsense! How many of Christ's flock has he lead away from the authentic Faith into heresy?

This is truly disturbing.

Please people, if you hear something that sounds new or different from what you've always been taught, let that be alarm bells for you. Seek out the authentic Faith NOT IN MEN, but in the official documents and teachings of Christ's Holy Catholic Church where Christ Himself has promised the gates of Hell would never prevail.

**A reminder for Deacon Joseph Jensen...you don't get to change authentic teaching of the Faith.

Catholic Catechism #939 Helped by the priests, their co-workers, and by the deacons, the bishops have the duty of authentically teaching the faith, celebrating divine worship, above all the Eucharist, and guiding their Churches as true pastors. Their responsibility also includes concern for all the Churches, with and under the Pope.

Church Militant under attack for speaking the Truth

What a weekend on social media!

Fr. James Martin just can't stop playing the victim...he loves the attention it gets him.

I wrote about this Saturday in my posts: Church Militant is so mean! and Fr. James Martin on men kissing men at Mass

The snowball continued gaining speed on social media as the battled heated up between Church Militant and Fr. James Martin and his groupies.

For the quick lowdown, check out Michael Voris from Church Militant on his Vortex episode today ...

Voris: "Holy Cow did social media ever blow up this weekend, involving the heresy-preaching, pro-sodomy priest Fr. James Martin and Church Militant. Late Friday, Church Militant broke the story that the seminary at Catholic University of America had canceled Martin's speaking event at an upcoming event the first weekend of October. That started it. The priest blamed Church Militant, in part, for the cancellation and started whining about it on Twitter. His allies in the Associated Press and other secular media came screaming to his defense. Church Establishment types — like Fox News consultant and Cdl. (Timothy) Dolan mouthpiece Fr. Jonathan Morris — came out of the woodwork, accusing Church Militant of being "demonic," and the rest is history. And all of this since just Friday night. Clearly, Church Militant has kicked the hornet's nest of homosexuality in the clergy." [clipped for length]
Voris continues by throwing down a challenge to Fr. James Martin and Fr. Jonathan Morris and even Cardinal Dolan!
Voris: "So, since Fr. Martin and his followers think Church Militant is evil and rotten and mean and judgmental, we'd like to extend an official invitation to Fr. Martin to publicly debate his position about homosexuality any time, any place. Surely with the backing of such prominent homosexualist princes of the Church, as well as celebrity priests in love with themselves, judging from their rather unpriestly photos on their Facebook page, the pro-sodomy priest should relish the opportunity to slam Church Militant in person and before a packed house with cameras rolling.
How about it Father? You talk a good game. Let's talk it out in front of God and everyone. You think the Church is wrong like so many other clergy, and we think it's right. A little throwdown should settle this once and for all, right? And for all those deluded followers of his, you should be encouraging your pro-gay hero to take up the challenge."
"Perhaps Cdl. Dolan could even sponsor the debate, and it's perfectly acceptable to us if His Eminence wants to sit in the pro-gay corner. We'd expect nothing less. So, let's have a great big dose of that transparency that so many leaders in the Church never stop rambling on about. Let's dialogue. Stop all the name calling, right? Let's get down to it.
And we are as serious as a heart attack about this because the out front challenge to this homo-heresy has to be done. So come on Father. You know you're dying to. Come on."

The snowball shows zero signs of slowing down. Fr. Martin has called in the troops to once more target Church Militant as "cyber bullies" because they uphold Catholic teaching and call out Catholic clergy who reject Catholic teaching. Go figure!

LaCroix International: The Worlds Premiere Independent Catholic Daily has come charging into the fray to defend the heretical teachings Fr. Martin promotes and blame "cyber militants" and get this...Pope Saint John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI! 😄

Quote: These cyber militants are not alone. Rather, they are part of the “age of anger” from which the Catholic Church is not immune. These groups and individuals are particularly active and influential in the Catholic Church in the United States. Much of this is the result of more than thirty years of episcopal appointments under John Paul II and Benedict XVI, which recast the US episcopate in the image of the “cultural warrior”.
The bleeding hearts club continues with "the saga" of poor little LBGTQXYZ sodomy promoting priest Fr. Martin plight against these horrible mean cyber "neo-Nazi" 😏bullies...
Quote: "The saga of Fr Martin indicates several important things. First, it shows that these fringe groups are small but not that marginal or unrepresentative of a particular kind of American Catholicism. Just two months ago, critics of the now well-known article by Antonio Spadaro SJ and Marcelo Figueroa in the Vatican-vetted Jesuit-run journal La Civiltà Cattolica said the authors had exaggerated the importance of groups like Church Militant. But the cancellation of Fr Martin’s talks confirms that these groups have power in the Church and can influence important institutional decisions. It is interesting to read the La Civiltà Cattolica article synoptically with its criticisms two months after its publication – that is, after the neo-Nazi and white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia and this latest campaign against Fr James Martin."

HAHAHAHAHA! 😁 Who in their right minds can take these people seriously? These mental midgets are a sandwich short of a picnic!

The Catholic Church says homosexual relationships can NEVER be supported, yet Fr. James Martin publicly supports them! By his own words he opposes Christ's Holy Catholic Church.

Who in the Church is calling out these errors? Cardinal Dolan? Nope.

Pope Francis? Nope. Heck, he promoted him!

So that it's left to good, decent Catholic people like the folks at Church Militant to point out the obvious. And for that, they are called "cyber bullies" and "fringe" group!

There are better names for Catholics like this in our Church's history who stood up against heresy and wayward clergy.

Martyrs and Saints.

These are the types of people Our Lord will say "Well done, good and faithful servant" to upon their Judgement.

Those of Fr. James Martin and ilk will be getting a refresher course from the Gospel of Matthew.
Matthew 7:21-23Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)
21 Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.22 Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name?23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.

In Christ,
