MSNBC's Morning Joe disappointed Pope met with Kim Davis

The folks over at MSNBC's Morning Joe are not only disappointed by the news that Pope Francis met with Kim Davis, they are "shocked" by it.

Why would they be "shocked", "surprised" and "disappointed" to hear Pope Francis met a woman who is opposed to gay marriage- beliefs that happen to coincide with Catholic belief?

Perhaps because the "Who am I to judge" comment has come back to stump them.

It's interesting that they are not surprised when the pope visits everyone else, but heaven forbid he visit a woman who was jailed for her religious beliefs!  Oh no! Not HER!

Why not her?  Had she been a jailed lesbian they wouldn't have been disappointed- oh no!  They would have been applauding and cheering. What hypocrites they are!

What I am disappointed about is the fact that Pope Francis didn't mention her during his address to Congress.  Now that would have been wonderful!

BREAKING: EWTN Granted Relief in HHS Mandate Case

EWTN Granted Injunctive Relief
In HHS Mandate Case

Court of Appeals Acts Following
Supreme Court Hobby Lobby Decision

Irondale, AL – The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta has granted the EWTN Global Catholic Network an injunction preventing the government from enforcing the HHS contraceptive services mandate against the Network. The appeals court released its twenty-nine page order just hours after the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the Hobby Lobby case. The injunction allows EWTN to continue its court challenge of the mandate without incurring the fines of $35,000 per day that would have begun on July 1.
“This has been a very good day for religious liberty in America,” said EWTN Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Michael P. Warsaw. “The Supreme Court decision in the Hobby Lobby case was a great affirmation of the constitutional right to freedom of religious expression. While the Hobby Lobby decision did not directly resolve EWTN’s case, this afternoon’s injunction from the appellate court allows us to press forward without facing the government’s crushing fines.
“As we have said repeatedly, contraception, abortion-inducing drugs and voluntary sterilization are not health care and the government should not force EWTN to provide them as part of our employer-sponsored health plan.
“The Hobby Lobby decision recognizes that business owners don’t give up their religious freedom when they start a business,” continued Warsaw. “The fact that the Supreme Court believes that the government has an obligation to use the least restrictive means of accomplishing its goals is very helpful to the EWTN case. EWTN has raised similar arguments with regard to the government’s ‘accommodation’ scheme for faith-based organizations. We are both relieved and encouraged by the action taken by the courts today and look forward to making our case before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in the coming months.”
EWTN Global Catholic Network, in its 33rd year, is available in over 230 million television households in more than 140 countries and territories. With its direct broadcast satellite television and radio services, AM & FM radio networks, worldwide short-wave radio station, Internet website www.ewtn.com, electronic and print news services, and publishing arm, EWTN is the largest religious media network in the world.

BREAKING NEWS: EWTN on Hobby Lobby Case

EWTN Chairman & CEO Michael Warsaw Reacts To Hobby Lobby Decision

Irondale, AL – Statement of Michael P. Warsaw, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EWTN Global Catholic Network on June 30, 2014 US Supreme Court Decision in the Hobby Lobby Case:

“EWTN is extremely pleased with today’s Supreme Court decision in the Hobby Lobby case.  The fact that the Court believes that the government has less restrictive means of accomplishing it’s goals is very helpful.  However, it remains unclear whether this decision addresses the serious objections that EWTN has raised with regard to the government’s “accommodation” scheme for nonprofit faith-based organizations. We are consulting with our legal team to determine how this significant decision applies to EWTN and our pending case before the courts.”

The Catholic Church could take lessons from Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson

Wake up Catholic Church, there is a lesson you could learn here.

Duck Dynasty’s patriarch Phil Robertson isn’t a man to waste words, he says it like it is and stands by his faith and he uses Sacred Scripture to back up what he professes as his faith.  How many Catholic clergy and religious do the same?

When Pope Francis said “Who am I to judge?” at WYD on the issue of homosexuality the world went into a tailspin because they didn’t understand what he meant.  The progressives and liberals thought he’d just given the thumbs up to gay marriage.  Conservative traditionalist cried out in a deafening sigh because they KNEW progressives and liberals would take that exact meaning.   Did Pope Francis clarify?  Did he teach with scriptures exactly what the Catholic Church has to say about homosexual relationship and WHY [i.e. Sacred Scripture]? Nope.

On the other hand, Phil Robertson continues to speak clearly on his faith, what the Bible says and WHY he and his family have the faith they do.

Two faithful men speaking about the same issue- one clearly and one that caused so much confusion that the Bishops had to make the media rounds for weeks to clarify that the Church hadn't changed its position on gay marriage.

““I want to tell you something. What is it that I expect as a consequence of World Youth Day? I want a mess. We knew that in Rio there would be great disorder, but I want trouble in the dioceses!”

So far there are crickets in Catholic dioceses.

Not so with Phil Robertson!

Let’s take a closer look at exactly WHAT Phil Robertson said and WHERE did he get that view from?

“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong… Sin becomes fine. Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.” –Stop here for a moment-

Anyone paying attention to Christianity today can SEE what Robertson is talking about when he says “everything is blurred on what is right and what’s wrong…Sin becomes fine”.

How true!  Just LOOK at some protestant churches [link at bottom] in the last few decades-they are VOTING on what is sin and what is not sin.  What was once called wrong in their own denominations has now been voted on and suddenly considered ‘right’.  And if the vote goes against the gay marriage supporters they split off their own denomination, take a new vote and make a new denomination that will not tell them anything they don’t want to hear.

Phil Robertson is 100% CORRECT!

Phil next goes on to show how one sin morphs into another.  Again he’s right.  It’s really no different than the studies that show how using marijuana often leads to more hardcore drugs. Same with sin, it continues and grows. Once you are desensitized to something that hurdle is passed, you move on to the next and the next.  When it comes to sin, this is why we (Christians) are REQUIRED to REPENT from the sin- not accept it or tell people it’s no longer a sin!

Repenting means not only admitting it was a sin, but also promising to turn AWAY from that sin.  When people redefine what sin is, they no longer turn from it, instead they welcome the sin with open arms and call it “love and tolerance”- that is NOT biblical and that (I believe) is exactly what Phil Robertson said in his interview.

This leads to another problem we have in society - uneducated Christians.

When people and the media heard his next words they went hog wild CRAZY!  They seemed to think it was Phil Robertson who linked gay sex with bestiality and fornication/adultery- guess what?  That didn’t come from Phil Robertson, he was once again referencing God’s word in the Bible [you know, that book Christians are supposed to believe].

Robertson was referencing God’s word about the punishments of assorted sexual sins found in Leviticus 20 of the Bible. [Since Robertson is a protestant, I will quote the NIV protestant bible here]

From Leviticus 20 -13“‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
14“‘If a man marries both a woman and her mother, it is wicked. Both he and they must be burned in the fire, so that no wickedness will be among you.
15“‘If a man has sexual relations with an animal, he is to be put to death, and you must kill the animal.
16‘If a woman approaches an animal to have sexual relations with it, kill both the woman and the animal. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

God put ALL these sexual sins TOGETHER in the Bible - NOT Phil Robertson.

The issue here is that Robertson is educated in the Bible verses and much of our society is not.  They are floundering minions who lap up whatever garbage the media spits at them. Even self professing Christians seemed shocked to hear what Robertson said, as if they'd never read or heard these Scriptures before.  That is a problem, a very big problem.

IF the Catholic Church (and other Christian denominations) were PROPERLY teaching what the Sacred Scriptures said, this wouldn't have been such a news story.  It would have been a little bleep "Another Christian quotes the Bible against gay marriage".  Period.

But that didn't happen because far too many self professing Christians have NO IDEA what the Bible says about much of anything.  Pathetic.

Clearly what Robertson said in his GQ Magazine interview is DIRECTLY from the Bible- God’s word.  He said it because he believes the Bible.  Yes, most of us know that this is the Old Covenant and we do not dole out these punishments, but that does not mean the things listed are no longer sins! And NO ONE is calling for gays to be 'put to death'- we [Christians] are now under the New Covenant not the Old.  Clearly God DID call for that punishment in the Old Testament under the Old Covenant given to the Jewish people, but that is not what New Covenant Christians are called to.  We don't dole out the punishments, we are suppose to TEACH the Faith.  That is our commission from Christ (Matt.28).

The point is, they are all still sexual sins, but now under the New Covenant that Jesus Christ brought, our punishment for such sins will be given to us on Judgment Day.  You don’t repent of sexual sin and you go to Hell.  Period.

Now how many Catholics have heard that taught to them by a Catholic priest or a pope?  Too many Catholics run around thinking these things aren’t even in the Bible and if they are, they stopped being a sin when Jesus came along because Jesus was all about love and nothing else.  Stupid Catholics.

Robertson continues:

“Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

Again the Duck Dynasty patriarch is preaching the very word of God…

1 Cor. 6 [Protestant NIV Bible]Sexual Immorality 9Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.12“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. 13You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both. The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. 15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”b 17But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. c18Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

What Phil Robertson did with one magazine interview was attempt to educate the masses with the very words of God from the Bible.  He actually did what Pope Francis called Catholics to do back in July… “make noise” and “make a mess” to “stir things up”.

Well done Phil Robertson!

When was the last time a Catholic clergy gave such a lesson in the Word of God about sex sins?  The Saints of the Catholic Church were NOT wishy-washy lumps.  They spoke about sin- all sorts of sins, and what it would lead to- that’s part of what made them Saints!

The Catholic Church needs more Saints in the making… our clergy need to grow backbones and speak the TRUTH and the Word of God.  Go make some noise about the wrongs of sexual sins and the need to repent and keep from falling into sexual sin AND TO REFUSE TO SUPPORT SEXUAL SIN.  Romans 1 is very clear that IF you support a sin, you are GUILTY of that sin even if you don’t commit that sin.

Wake up Catholics!  Hear the noise of Phil Robertson!  He’s referencing the Bible and you’re so ignorant you don’t even know it!

Demand your clergy TEACH the word of God to you!  It’s their job to educate the faithful; if they fail in their commission to teach the faith to you they are jeopardizing your salvation.  Demand that they TEACH and stop wasting your time with unicorn farting rainbow homilies.  If you hear a homily that made no sense or taught you nothing, DO NOT BE AFRAID to put them on the spot and say “What was that all about?”

They work for God to teach and spread God’s Word, hold them to it!  Don’t let them get away with feeding you garbage when God has promised you so much more.

The Catholic Church in many ways could learn quite a bit from Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson.  Make some noise Catholics and tell the Church you want to hear the Truth.

In Christ,

Julie @ Connecticut Catholic Corner

On another note...

PS: About what Phil said that people are calling 'racist' - again, he was interviewed and asked HIS opinion and he stated WHAT HE SAW WITH HIS OWN EYES ONLY...
“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field.... They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”
He did not deny mistreatment was happening, he was saying HE NEVER SAW IT.  There is NOTHING racist in that comment.  Can Oprah say the same...?

Our Home-Grown Threat To Freedom

Written by Connecticut Catholic Corner contributor: Tim S.

As of this writing, the Conference of Catholic Bishops has filed a suit in federal court against provisions of the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act which mandate the provision of contraceptive, sterilization, and abortion-inducing measures by people of conscience, including hospitals and other health care facilities run by the Catholic Church. This suit has the support of many non-Catholics as well as Catholics. As Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and an evangelical minister, succinctly put it, "We should all be Catholics now."

Though the specific issue at hand is religious freedom, the matter in fact goes far beyond just that. We should have seen the warning red flags long before the election of 2008. Barack Obama ran on a platform highlighted by such nebulous slogans as, "Hope And Change" and "Change We Can Believe In." Neither of these slogans was specifically defined, and we now know that the omission was intentional. Equally intentional was the withholding of vital information about the candidate Obama, such as where he was born (supposedly Hawaii), his college transcripts, his medical records, and so on. Even more disturbing was the deliberate withholding of information about Obama's radical associations past and present, including numerous members of the Communist Party of the United States of America. The stand of the Catholic Church against communism is one of long standing.

Yet it goes beyond even this. The real culprit here is a growing tide of secularism which has largely overtaken not only the United States, but much of the developed world as well. When did it all begin? I would say it began in 1964, a time when the Catholic Church was at its height in America and the rest of the world as well. For it was in 1964 that we stopped listening to God and started listening to Madalyn Murray, who succeeded in her effort to get prayer banned from the public schools, and would have stricken the motto, "In God We Trust," from our currency.

Shortly after Obama's election there were several disturbing events. One was his instant abandonment of the economy as an issue, turning instead to socialized medicine, a goal long coveted by his political party, the Democrats. Bolstered by Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress, Obama was given carte blanche to do what he would with our government, and he wasted no time in exercising that carte blanche. Against the will of the American people, Obama had the Affordable Care and Protection Act, better known as Obamacare, railroaded through a partisan Congress and enacted into law. The insurance mandate of this law, requiring the purchase of health care insurance by all Americans, was ruled constitutional in a 5-4 vote of the Supreme Court, on the grounds that it was a "tax." This and Obama's "stimulus" were instrumental in propelling our national debt to nearly $16 trillion dollars.

Even more disturbing, however, were instances in 2009 of school children being forced by their teachers to sing hymns of praise to Barack Obama. This struck a raw nerve not only with people of most religious faiths, but also with those old enough to remember Nazi Germany who were able to see eerie similarities here. We will recall from the Gospels that when a man knelt before Peter, Peter admonished the man to rise to his feet, gently reminding the supplicant that he (Peter) was only a man himself. Obama, however, made no similar protest at deification, as any of his predecessors certainly would have. On the contrary, by his silence he seemed to be encouraging it. His advocacy of late-term abortions, even to the point of killing infants outside the womb, put him on the fringes even in the minds of those who would permit abortions to victims of rape and incest. His latest moral outrage is in his advocacy of same-sex marriage, in effect redefining the holy sacrament of Matrimony for the entire nation as it has already been redefined here in Connecticut. But note the language used here: Obama and his apologists in the press say that he has "evolved" on the issue of same-sex marriage. Had a Republican done the same thing, it would have been called a flip-flop.

In the meantime, Obama, through federal "bailouts" of the banking, insurance, and automotive industries has, through the purchase of stock at taxpayer expense, in effect taken over substantial portions of those industries. Obamacare, if not repealed, will nationalize roughly one-sixth of the entire U. S. economy. The more astute among us will recognize here a threat to our legacy of freedom, and the looming specter of communism in the very country which for so long during the Cold War fought against that oppressive form of government.

The choice Americans face this November couldn't possibly be more stark. It's a choice between a political party which would preserve our freedom and one which would take that freedom away. It's a choice between a candidate who, while of a different religious persuasion, is nevertheless a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and one who has permitted the closest thing to emperor worship yet witnessed on American soil. It's a choice between a party which supports the right to life and traditional marriage, and one which stands for abortion -- the willful taking of unborn life -- and whose party platform this year will include a redefinition of marriage to include "marriage" between principals of the same sex. Treating homosexuals with dignity and respect is one thing. It is quite another, however, to sanction homosexual activity and afford it the status of Matrimony.

It couldn't be more obvious which political party represents religious freedom and which represents secularism. Let us the faithful keep this in mind when we enter the voting booths in November.
