Bach, Stravinsky & Janacek: Katie Lansdale, violin with Wei-Yi Yang, piano
Sunday, May 4, 2014, 3pm

At Promisek, Skyline Ridge Road, Bridgewater (www.promisek.org)
Ticket: $25.00 (students $10); champagne reception follows
To reserve ticket: 860-355-2066events@promisek.org

The concert takes place in St Cecilia’s music room adjoining the Beatrix Ferrand garden

Three powerful pieces —the Bach Cantabile is reflective and intricate; the Janacek Sonata combines the sweet Czech-nationalist nostalgia with the powerful emotions reacting to war; the Stravinsky Divertimento, a rewriting of his ballet the Fairy’s Kiss, lifts Tchaikovsky’s tunes to a height of wit and gesture, almost to cabaret —even without dancers in the room.
