These photos I took are of some of the wreckage from 9/11 at the Knights of Columbus Museum here in Connecticut.
Remembering this day and praying for the victims and their families.

St.
Dunstan and St. Peter Claver are hosting a Catholic Heart Workcamp in Hartford
this coming summer. www.heartworkcamp.com
This
is the camp that we, at St. Dunstan, have taken our youth group to for the past
ten or so years. I will be the camp manager here in Hartford. This camp
continues to be a fantastic opportunity to have our teens serve in various
communities; the camp also provides a great night time program full of praise
and worship and faith-building activities.
I
need to find 40 + worksites in the Greater Hartford area so that I can place the
teens and adults in the community to serve. We will do anything from house
rehabilitation, (painting, not like the Property Brothers or anything),
child care, elder care, meal centers, pantries, soup kitchens, VBS’s,
anything.

Orthodox Christianity has been Russia’s pre-eminent religion for more than a millennium and is integral to the nation’s history and culture. Yale University history professor Dr. Paul Bushkovitch will discuss the origin and foundation of Russian Orthodoxy, which has endured attacks and repression throughout the past, most notably during the preceding century. Dr. Bushkovitch earned degrees from Harvard and Columbia Universities and has studied in Russia. He has been a member of the Yale faculty since 1975 and has published and lectured extensively on Russian history.
The Knights of Columbus Museum's exhibition of Russian icons, Windows into Heaven, runs through April 27, 2014. The museum is open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
***On a personal note, I LOVE visiting the Knights of Columbus Museum year round - it is never disappointing. I highly recommend it, makes for a great FREE day trip for families (admission and parking are free!).

Knights of Columbus Museum

Today my family and I visited a few museums in New Haven, Ct for my daughters sixteenth birthday. Each year I ask my children to decide what they would like to do for their birthday, and this year my sixteen year old requested spending her day at a few museums. We first spent a few hours at the Peabody Museum in New Haven, then she requested we visit a 'new-to-us' musuem. The Knights of Columbus Museum on State Street is what she wanted to see next, so off we went. Admission is free and parking is free- you can't beat that!
Having never been to the KoC museum before we were not sure what to expect. We were delighted to find a special "Blessed: A Tribute to John Paul II" exhibit going on. The JPII exhibit took up nearly the entire second floor of the museum. There were assorted paintings, photos, clothing, furniture, vestments, art sculptures and more!
(above: this is the fountain near the underground parking area)(below: JPII Tribute Gallery)

(below: Rubble from the World Trade Center 911 attack)

(below: Saint Peter bronze statue)

Besides the wonderful JPII Tribute Gallery, the KoC museum is also currently featuring "Full of Grace: Crowned Madonnas from the Vatican Basilica" reprint paintings from all around the world. These were amazing. Unfortunately, photographing the artwork was forbidden so I can not share them here. This artwork is a collection of printed reproductions from the Vatican's own collection.
There is much to see at the Knights of Columbus Museum and I highly recommend it.
