1962 Daily Latin Mass offered in Connecticut

I am thrilled to share that the 1962 Traditional Latin Mass offered at St. Martha's in Enfield Ct, has now been expanded from not just Sundays at noon, but all this week! (*Let us pray that this expands to a continual daily mass!*)

This is a Vatican approved Latin Mass by Archbishop Leonard Blair, as part of the Archdiocese of Hartford, Ct

In Christ,

The Catholic Church in Connecticut is headed for a show-down in the State Supreme Court over when victims of priest sex abuse in the past can report their crimes.

Bone to pick with Archdiocese of Hartford

I have a bone to pick with the Archdiocese of Hartford over Father Stephen Foley who has been accused of sexual abuse, including William Noll who claims Foley abused him for three years when he was a teen. Foley hightailed it out of CT when he was ordered to leave a Bloomfield seminary and has so far refused to return and face the charges against him. He was found in Virginia and once again refused or failed to show up for a video deposition. This isn't the first time Foley has defied court orders. He failed to show up last March on another sexual abuse case, but that one was settled just before it went to trial.

I know all are assumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law, but lets face it, when a grown man, a "man of the cloth" clergy runs and hides instead of facing his responsibilities and honestly answering questions and accusations put to him, what are we to believe?

Charge after charge is being placed on Foley and he's hiding from them like a coward. Nearly as bad is that the archdiocese of Hartford is helping! How are they helping? They are still paying him $1,000 a month stipend and his health insurance (he's being treated for skin cancer) and he is STILL A PRIEST, though he's been ordered not to perform any priestly duties for the time being.

When the archdiocese of Hartford was asked about Foley, here is what they had to say:
"He is not a slave. The archdiocese doesn't own him. The legal system has more control over him," Church spokesman John Gatzak said. "If the legal system can't get him to do what he is supposed to do, you can't expect the archdiocese to do it."

What was that again Mr. Gatzak? We "can't expect the archdiocese to do it"? Why the heck not? How about cutting off his money and health care? How about stripping the coward of his holy orders? How about telling the police where he can be found?
The archdiocese of Hartford has ALREADY settled at least 12 sexual abuse cases against Foley involving 43 people! And now we hear "you can't expect the archdiocese to do it"? This is sickening and wrong. The archdiocese of Hartford is wrong and they need to admit it and work with the police to bring Foley in. And WHY is this man still a priest? More than 40 people in settled abuse cases have come forward against Foley and his sexual abuse yet this man is STILL a Roman Catholic priest. That is disgusting and vile in this Roman Catholic bloggers opinion. I am very disappointed in the archdiocese of Hartford at the moment and I truly hope they get their act together and do the right thing with Foley, because what they are doing now is wrong. It's simply wrong.

Catholic Programs: In- Protestant Programs: Out

Kudos to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hartford and their radio station WJMJ-FM for the decision to remove Protestant programming on this Catholic radio station and replace it with Catholic programming- who would have thought real Catholic programming on a Catholic radio station? Previously the station was dominated by 80 percent Protestant programming with only 20 percent Catholic programming. Doesn't sound much like a Catholic radio station did it? First and foremost a Catholic radio station should be (now here's a concept): Catholic! With the removal of Protestant programs, WJMJ-FM has brought in the worldwide known Catholic network EWTN to bring us Catholic programs and share our Catholic faith on the radio. With the removal of Protestant programming also comes disappointment for some, a lot of whining and of course some slamming of Catholics, our Church and our faith. You don't believe me? Check out some of the newspaper forums where articles on this topic have been printed. I get that some people have enjoyed listening to certain shows for many years and now they will be missed but come on! Look at it from a Catholic view point. We want to hear OUR faith for a change on OUR Catholic radio. There are several Protestant radio stations in Connecticut and NONE of them will produce Catholic programs. Can you imagine the uproar people would have if say Middletown's WIHS Christian radio station prayed a rosary on the air? Or how about WFIF Life Changing radio station airing a show about how Christ instituted Saint Peter as the first Pope of the Catholic Church? Think you're going to hear any of that on a Protestant radio station in anything but a negative light? Not very likely, as these Protestant radio station programming lists indicate. And some Protestants would be up in arms over it. Over what they consider untrue and erroneous theology. Some even consider it blasphemy. They wouldn't like it at all, as is their right. Well guess what folks? Some Catholics didn't like being subjected to 80 percent non-Catholic programming either. It's a Catholic radio station and we should be able to rightly assume we will hear Catholic teachings, views and beliefs on it. Now the music for the most part on any of these radio stations is universal to all Christians. Some like more contemporary Christian music, and other's the more traditional hymns. Taste's vary, but usually we can all find common ground in Christian music. So on that note, many Protestants will still be able to enjoy WJMJ-FM, while Catholics who hunger for inspiring Catholic program's supporting their faith can also enjoy the new change at WJMJ-FM.

To find WJMJ-FM on the radio go to:
88.9 FM in the Hartford area,

93.1 FM in the Hamden area,
and 107.1 FM in the New Haven area.
