Blow it out your ear Fr. Longenecker

Today I am sounding off on Longenecker's political views because he just called me "loathsome" and basically stupid.
Longenecker: "...I don’t actually loathe Donald Trump I loathe the Trump Cult
This is the growing adulation for the man, and for that reason and the huge rallies disturb me.
I’m disturbed because I am whiffing the signs of demagoguery, and the problem with the demagogue is overweening pride."
Stop right there.

Let's look at what Longenecker is saying about the people who voted for President Trump and the people who attend Trump rallies.
Definition by Vocabulary.com: "Demagoguery is a manipulative approach — often associated with dictators and sleazy politicians — that appeals to the worst nature of people. Demagoguery isn't based on reason, issues, and doing the right thing; it's based on stirring up fear and hatred to control people. For example, a politician who stirs up a fear of immigrants to distract from other issues is using demagoguery. Demagoguery is one of the most negative aspects of politics, but it's also one that's all too common."
The "worst nature of people"?

Apparently, supporting a pro-life, cut regulations, America first, border security and jobs not mobs president is appealing to my "worst nature"?😒

Longenecker continues to make an ass of himself when he says it upsets him when politicians like Trump believe their ideas for fixing the country's problems are right.
Longenecker: "The problem with pride is not arrogance, boasting or showing off. Those are simply the symptoms of pride.
The deeper problem with pride is the assumption that I am right. Not only “I am right” but “I am 100% without a doubt, right” and if I’m 100% without a doubt right, then the other guy must be wrong, and if he’s wrong, he’s the problem, and if he’s the problem, then he has to be blamed, and if he has to be blamed and if he is the problem, then I have to solve the problem, and the way I solve the problem is get rid of the problem. The problem has to go away, and if it won’t go away on its own I will make it go away."

What a dumb-ass thing to say!

Why would anyone support a politician who did NOT believe they had the right ideas for fixing problems?? Does that make sense to anyone besides Longenecker?

He ends his asinine article with...
"If you are an American Christian, don’t fall into the trap and jump on the Trump bandwagon. Vote on Tuesday with your eyes wide open. Vote for the best candidate according to your conscience and according to that person’s personal integrity, his or her policies and what you realistically believe they can accomplish to achieve the common good.
Prefer Donald Trump if you think he will do the best for the country, be grateful for the good decisions he has made…
…but when it comes to the cult of Donald–apply the brakes.
PS: If you are a Trump fan and this post has made you mad…don’t you think that might be a warning sign? Isn’t it a good thing to be wary of politicians and men of power? Isn’t it a wise thing for a priest to step back and warn about the allure of worldly power and advise caution?"

Let this proud "Cult of Trump" woman explain the facts to you- and to the majority who just don't understand WHY thousands of people flock to Trump rallies and support Trump, his policies and his at times outlandish speeches.

For decades, Republicans have been forced to vote for spineless, I'll-promise-you-the-world-do-nothing politicians. We put our hope into one after the other who promised to be strong against the left and fulfill campaign promises. They told us they were pro-life, they lied. They were actors, acting out a role they needed to get the part. Once they were nominated they ignored their base and did whatever the hell they wanted.

They were never truly in touch with voters, they just knew which buttons to push to get our votes and that we couldn't bring ourselves to ever vote for the other side. So we held our noses and voted or we just stayed home and wept. These politicians never cared about us, they only cared about our votes. We were numbers to them, not real people with real hopes, dreams and problems needing solving.

Trump showed up and talked about things NO other politicians were talking about. He was talking about the things Republican VOTERS were talking about around the table with their families and friends. And he didn't beat around the bush or speak politically correct. He spoke like us.

He was willing to fight for the things important to us, the Republican voters. He took down each and every fake actor out there one by one because he truly believes and thinks as we do- his base. He is one of us.

You just don't get that.

Maybe because you only see a millionaire bully who thrives on winning.

We see a political hero. A man who defies the odds and jumps into the battle even when the odds are against him because he believes in the fight. People laughed at him, called him a joke, homophobic, racist, white supremacist, etc. Yet he never wavered. We watched. He took it and fought back. That is what we were waiting for!

Trump is a man willing to take the abuse constantly tossed at him because he believes in what he is doing and he is listening to his base. He's a man with a backbone who will fight for what WE want. A man who never, not even for a moment, forgets who his base is. He is fighting for us, and the things WE believe in at tremendous personal cost to himself. We see his faults and we don't care because he is the only one fighting for us.

He's had his reputation shredded, he's been sued and is being sued over and over again. He has had to not only fight the Democrats, he even has to fight the establishment GOP-the swamp and RINO's. He's just like us! We, the Republican voters have had to fight the establishment ourselves for decades, but we could never win against such power. We were forced to either submit and vote for the GOP candidate we knew was a spineless worm or support a pro-butcher socialist loving Democrat. We had no one speaking for us, fighting for us. Until Trump.

We don't care that he doesn't wear a halo, we didn't vote for him because we wanted a saint in office. We voted for him because we wanted a fighter in office willing to fight for us and our political platform because he sees what we see and he believes what we believe. The Republican Party LEFT the Republican voters years ago. Now Trump is taking it back and Republican voters are cheering to have our Party back from the spineless GOP swamp dwellers. This is what so many 'never-Trumpers' and establishment types just don't get. Trump hasn't destroyed the Republican Party...he's put it back together!

Christian voters did not forget that President Obama was a threat to religious freedom. Bakery shop's and flower shops and wedding photographers went out of business and were sued because they would not go against their religious beliefs and participate in gay "marriages". These people had their livelihoods destroyed and were harassed and smeared in the media for months and years.

And we knew Hillary Clinton promised to be a threat to religious freedom. She would continue the liberal agenda to destroy religion and religious freedom in the United States.

Christian's, Catholics and Protestants alike saw this, we knew this, we feared this and we knew we HAD to find a fighter who was willing to take on this battle for our religious freedom or we'd lose it.

We found him.

Donald Trump promised to support religious freedom.

Others who were running in 2016 were more of the same - spineless- mostly RINO's -not to be trusted. We wanted someone we could trust, someone who believed what we believed.

President Donald Trump is that man and I thank God for him every day. And I believe, truly and honestly, that God had something to do with Trump winning the election.

Trump's kept promises...

-Two conservative pro-life Supreme Court Justices
-Stocking the Federal Courts with conservative judges
-ISIS
-North Korea
-Cut regulations and red tape
-Economy
-Jobs
-Pro-life
-Paris Accord
-NAFTA
-Rebuild Military
-Tax Cuts
-Stock Market
-Trade
-Ended Obamacare mandate
-Opioid crisis
-Immigration

I am THRILLED we have a President who wants to secure our borders, not just from illegal immigrants, but from drugs. I want that wall built, I have wanted that wall built for decades. Now we have a President who will not back down and is going to keep on fighting to build that wall.

Unfortunately we know it won't be as nice and secure as the lovely walls protecting Vatican City and Pope Francis from the unwanted...

...but it will one day sooner rather than later, be a wall that will help keep out illegals and drugs.

So you see Father Longenecker, we voters in the 'Cult of Trump' as you call it, will continue to support Trump and vote for him again in 2020 because he is one of us and he keeps his promises. With all due respect, if you don't like that, you can blow it out your ear.

Very Rev. John Lankeit: Catholics have ONE choice in this election

There is only one candidate in this 2016 election that Catholics can vote for, and it isn't Hillary Clinton!

Fantastic homily on voting, abortion, elections and political parties.

Leadership Or Idolatry? An Election Choice

"For false Christs and false prophets will appear..." -- Mark 13:6

As we who follow the Faith well know, the Catholic Church traditionally does not take sides in partisan politics. That restriction, however, does not apply to commentators who happen to be Catholic. Let it therefore be known that the following opinions do not speak for the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, but merely for a concerned writer with the interests of the faithful in mind.

We have an election coming up, and were this a traditional choice between Democratic and Republican candidates, I would remain silent on this particular medium. But it is not. This particular election puts America at the Rubicon. As is the usual situation, neither candidate is of our Faith. This in itself, however, poses no threat to either American Catholics or to the Catholic Church in America or elsewhere. What puts our country at the crossroads is that one of those candidates threatens, if reelected, to put an end not only to our religious freedom, but to freedom itself in America. That candidate is the incumbent president, Barack Obama.

By now, all Catholics in Connecticut are well aware that the so-called Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act would force Catholic health care providers to fund artificial contraception and abortion-inducing measures that violate Catholic teachings on such matters. Within the Archdiocese of Hartford, Archbishop Henry Mansell has been particularly vocal on this issue. This, however, is only the most blatant of a number of issues concerning the incumbent president which many, if not most Catholics, tend to find disturbing.

That Mr. Obama occupies the White House at all is largely the doing of biased and partisan news media who, during the 2008 presidential campaign, purposely ginned up hatred for the outgoing president, George W. Bush, and purposely promoted the Democratic Party candidate, Mr. Obama. In doing so, they also purposely withheld vital information about their chosen candidate which, if generally known, probably would have allowed cooler heads to prevail in the last election. Instead, Mr. Obama rode a tide of emotionalism to rise from general obscurity to the doors of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The first red flag came from popular television personality Oprah Winfrey, who, in a direct turnaround from her previous policy of not endorsing political candidates, rhetorically asked, "Is Obama The One?" This question should have been answered with an emphatic "NO!" "The One" is a title that rightfully belongs to Jesus Christ, and no one else.

Then, after Obama was elected, began a period of general hysteria almost eerily supernatural in its implications that became known as "Obamamania." Books by and about Obama flooded the newsstands. Episodes of fainting in the stands during Obama speeches (in all likelihood staged) were gleefully reported by ecstatic news media. Far-left commentator Chris Matthews of MSNBC, the broadcast news network most openly partisan to the left, claimed to have felt a tingle go up his leg at the sound of Obama's voice. Terms such as "messianic" and "messiah" were openly applied to Obama.

As we all know, or rather, should know, there is only one Messiah.

But it didn't end there. In a New Jersey township, in a scenario eerily reminiscent of Nazi Germany, school children were forced by a partisan teacher to sing hymns of praise to Barack Obama. Before Obama, no president ever would have condoned such idolization. Obama, however, made no effort to discourage such activity on his behalf. On the contrary, like the Roman emperors of old, he seemed to enjoy such implications of divinity. Certain celebrities, with whom Obama was an overwhelming favorite, took pledges "to serve the President of the United States." Excuse me. In a supposedly free country, we do not serve our president. He is elected to serve us! Neither do we sing hymns of praise to anyone but our Creator.

The most ridiculous expression of Obamamania came in 2009, not from any American source, but from the Nobel Committee in Stockholm, Sweden, who awarded that year's Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama, for essentially nothing more than simply being Barack Obama. He was given the prize not for anything he had actually done, but simply for his announced intentions -- none of which, incidentally, ever came to pass.
In the ensuing years, Obama proved that he was in fact none of what he had been hyped up to be. He was not a god. He did not have superhuman powers. He could not bring peace and kumbaya to the entire world with his physical presence alone. In short, the man was not the myth -- a myth which even he himself not only promoted, but apparently had come to believe himself.

When faced with a disaster having national consequences in the form of an oil rig rupture off the coast of Louisiana, he dithered and went off to play golf. Instead of reducing our national debt, he increased it by $6 trillion. His Cash For Clunkers program clunked. His expenditures of tax money for "green jobs," most notably Solyndra in California, ended up in dismal failure. His "stimulus" infusion of tax money into the economy stimulated nothing except an already bloated federal government. Plus, in the meantime, his government takeovers of substantial portions of the insurance, banking, and automotive industries, as well as a health care industry representing one-sixth of the total economy, resurrected echos of the former Soviet Union.

The recent campaign debates further accentuated a man cast into the role of President of the United States who in fact had no business occupying that office. Prior to these debates, his speeches had been made, with the aid of teleprompters, to selected audiences of those sympathetic to his viewpoint. Dissenters were never allowed to these events. Interviewers were careful to ask the president only those questions he wanted asked and was prepared to answer. Now he was forced to face a real challenge, and despite the fact that the moderators of these debates were all clearly in his camp, he was at a loss as to how to confront his challenger. Obama's belligerent bluster could not conceal his record, which was one of abject failure.

His most dismal moment came when once again he was put to the test of leadership, and failed that test most miserably. On Sept. 11, 2012, the American Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, was attacked by forces representing the international terrorist organization al Qaeda. It was an attack specifically planned for the anniversary of 9/11, the date of a three-pronged attack on the United States by Osama bin Laden, the former al Qaeda leader. Despite being informed by intelligence sources that this was, in fact, an attack of terrorism, Obama and his minions in the administration denied this, claiming it to rather be a spontaneous riot in response to an anti-Islamic video produced in California. Most egregiously, requests for help from Benghazi were denied by the State Department, and four Americans -- including Ambassador Christopher Stevens -- were needlessly killed.

Obama's response? He flew to Las Vegas to attend a fundraiser!

As of this writing, polls have Obama and his challenger, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, in a dead heat. Mr. Romney, though not a Catholic, has shown himself to be a sincere man of proven ability, and one who has the nation's interests at heart, rather than merely his own. Mr. Obama, on the other hand, has clearly demonstrated that while he likes the perks and the glory of being president, he shrinks from the responsibility. He likes living in the White House, flying on Air Force One, the lavish dinners, and the seemingly never-ending adulation of the press and fawning celebrities. But he does not like actually doing the job.

While Obamamania has clearly ebbed, with increasing numbers of Americans coming to the realization that we as a nation have followed a false Christ to the brink of possible extinction of the free country we have traditionally known, it is not yet over. America now stands at the crossroads, and for Catholics and other people of conscience our religious freedom is at stake. Our sacred beliefs should not be dictated to us by the federal government. Barack Obama would have it otherwise.

Let each and every one of us seriously keep these things in mind when we go to the polls on November 6.

How's A Catholic To Vote?

Politics gets so ugly so fast that I truly try to stay away from it on this blog. I wouldn't dream of telling a Catholic (or non-Catholic) how to cast their vote. I am not going to personally support any candidate on this blog either. What I hope for all voters is that they take some time to get to know who's running for what and on what issues and what their past says about them. This goes for local elections right to the White House. Every vote is important and while you may not see a "great" choice, there is always a choice to be made and a vote to be cast so please vote. If the last few elections have taught us anything, it is that TRULY EVERY VOTE COUNTS!
Weigh the issues- we've sure got enough of them to consider! There's the war, the economy, abortion, illegal immigration, taxes, health insurance or the lack of, the national debt, global warming/ the environment, jobs going overseas, stem cell research, terrorism, high food & gas prices and more. Look at them all and weigh them against the candidates looking not at just what they say they "hope" for the future (after all we've all got hopes and many times they just don't come true). Look at the candidates past. Where did they stand on these issues years ago? Are they standing on the issues important to you? What have they done or said prior to running for office about this stuff?
Look at the whole package and make an informed decision then you can cast your vote with a clear conscience and know you've done your best in voting for America's future. There are a lot of "undecided" people out there right now who can honestly see the good and bad in either candidates winning the White House. So this post is mostly to the undecideds out there (and there are many of you- that I've talked to anyway).
For Catholics a big issue is abortion and the death of a human life it causes. I hear many Pro-life Catholics saying "Yeah but the war is killing people too." Very true, I completely agree. War and abortion both kill, no doubt about it. So does embryonic stem cell research. These things must be considered. But so must other issues, like the economy. What happens in a poor economy where people are losing jobs and homes? Abortion rates climb because people who under better circumstances wouldn't even consider an abortion suddenly panic because of finances and get an abortion. Also crime goes up. Human life is the most important thing, or it should be to all of us. Human life is precious and must be protected in all ways in all areas. From abortion, from embryonic stem cell research, from war, from starvation, from no medical help and from terrorism and other threats. These are all real issues that need to be considered before casting our votes. There are tons of things on the web about this candidate or that one, some truthful some not, some good some bad. One source is YouTube. Today I received an email from someone sharing a Youtube video on the issue of our economy and the "bail out" mess (though this video is not a fan of the Dem. party). I want to say first that I personally do not lay the blame of our economy on any one person or party. I think the blame is spread around to a great many who are guilty on all sides. But for those interested, I am going to share the Youtube video I received. Take from it what you will or ignore it completely. I truly believe both McCain and Obama have a true desire to help our country through this difficult time, they just have very different ideas about how to do that. May God bless you all and guide you in voting!

The Catholic Vote 2008

Catholic Catechism:
#1740 Threats to freedom. The exercise of freedom does not imply a right to say or do everything. It is false to maintain that man, "the subject of this freedom," is "an individual who is fully self-sufficient and whose finality is the satisfaction of his own interests in the enjoyment of earthly goods." 33 Moreover, the economic, social, political, and cultural conditions that are needed for a just exercise of freedom are too often disregarded or violated. Such situations of blindness and injustice injure the moral life and involve the strong as well as the weak in the temptation to sin against charity. By deviating from the moral law man violates his own freedom, becomes imprisoned within himself, disrupts neighborly fellowship, and rebels against divine truth.
