Apology to Ave Maria Radio

Earlier today I posted an article about Ave Maria Radio (an EWTN affiliate) reporting that convicted killer Ledell Lee's last meal was the "Eucharist" while all other media sources reported "communion" from an unknown denomination.

Another Catholic blogger picked up the story from me and linked back to my post.

I questioned Ave Maria Radio's article title using "Eucharist" without waiting for Ave Maria Radio's answer to the question "where was their source?"

That was wrong and I apologize to Ave Maria Radio for not waiting for their return phone call before posting the story or a return email from EWTN whom I did ask clarification from as Ave Maria Radio is an EWTN affiliate.

I have spoken with Ave Maria Radio's news director and he told me it was an honest mistake by a person being a bit "overzealous" in posting their story.

Seems there is a lot of that going on lately.

I am removing the original article from my blog.

Again, my apologies to Ave Maria Radio for not giving them more time to respond before posting my article.

God bless.

EWTN Press Release: The Doctor Is In!

New! Dr. Ray Guarendi Five Days a Week

Irondale, AL – EWTN Global Catholic Radio Network and Ave Maria Radio (AMR) are proud to announce that Dr. Ray Guarendi is set to host “The Doctor Is In,” five days a week, starting June 2, 2014.

Dr. Ray, father of 10, is a clinical psychologist, author, public speaker and international television and radio host. “The Doctor Is In” will continue to be heard at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT, Monday through Friday, on EWTN Radio, while his TV show, “Living Right With Dr. Ray,” can be seen at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, Saturdays, on EWTN television.

“The Doctor Is In” debuted on EWTN Radio 11 years ago and has grown to become America’s trusted source for family advice for Catholics, with hosting duties split between Dr. Ray and Coleen Kelly Mast. Dr. Ray and Coleen, who is soon slated to host her own new program live on Saturday mornings, have helped thousands of listeners over the years through this daily call-in program.

This move gives “The Doctor is In” greater consistency in its host and represents the first of many new productions planned between the two Catholic media apostolates.  “A heightened collaboration between EWTN Radio and AMR sets into motion an even greater commitment to improving the overall quality and effectiveness of Catholic radio programming”, said David Vacheresse, General Manager of EWTN Global Catholic Radio Network.

Al Kresta, President & CEO of Ave Maria Radio, agreed. “We’ve been regularly partnering with EWTN Radio on “Kresta In the Afternoon,” “Catholic Connection,” “Christ Is The Answer,” and other programs heard across the EWTN Radio Network. Factor in some of the other EWTN platforms including the EWTN Global Catholic Television Network and the “National Catholic Register,” and AMR is thrilled to further assist EWTN in the work of the New Evangelization, helping engaged Catholics grow in their faith and reach out to disengaged Catholics. Remedial catechesis remains so necessary for millions of American Catholics. Our increased co-operation will no doubt spark new ideas for future program offerings.”

In its 18th year, Ave Maria Radio is a listener supported 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that employs various media to offer news, analysis, teaching, devotions and music to proclaim the Good News that Jesus is Lord. Internet website www.avemariaradio.net.
