Louie Verrecchio takes flight?

We've got a bad pope.

There is no denying.

Some Catholic media outlets won't say it publicly but they know it just like the rest of us who aren't ostriches.

For example [there are so many to pick from] a pope who says hell is not eternal because any soul that has been damned will be destroyed, is speaking heresy.

This is wrong because 1) damnation is eternal, 2) souls are not destroyed they are eternal, and 3) this is a basic teaching of the Holy Catholic Church that must be accepted and believed because Jesus Christ himself stated such in Sacred Scripture (Matthew 25:46).
Catechism: 1035 The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, "eternal fire." 617 The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.
Catechism: 2089 Incredulity is the neglect of revealed truth or the willful refusal to assent to it. "Heresy is the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic faith, or it is likewise an obstinate doubt concerning the same; apostasy is the total repudiation of the Christian faith; schism is the refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him." 11
That said, we, the faithful (key word here) should not abandon ship.

Our first pope, Saint Peter was corrected by Saint Paul when he was in error, he accepted the correction and that was that, as the saying goes.

Pope Honorius I, believed that Christ had only Divine Will (Monothelitism) during his time as pope. He pushed and taught this heresy through out his papacy and many followed and believed him- perhaps because...well, he was the pope!

They ignorantly thought that a pope could change the Faith and go against centuries of Sacred Teaching. They were wrong, and those who did not repent paid the ultimate price for it.  Excommunication and death outside the Salvation found in Christ's Holy Catholic Church.

Pope Honorius I was not condemned as a heretic for decades AFTER his death during the Third Council of Constantinople.  Yet he was pope and the Church did not collapse or self destruct because he blathered heresy. What did happen was he created a following of a bunch of heretics who like himself were eventually excommunicated. To those of you out there swallowing the heresies of any Catholic clergy, open your eyes. Your very salvation depends upon it.

Sadly, there were others like Honorius I in the history of our Church and unfortunately, there may be more in the future. Had Honorius I accepted correction, he would not have died an excommunicated heretic.

Now we have Pope Francis, preparing to celebrate...er...commemorate another excommunicated heretic who died outside the Church. Martin Luther.

Will Pope Francis accept correction (see yesterday's post HERE) before he dies and is (in my opinion) declared a heretic by some future council? I certainly pray and hope so.

Mr. Louie Verrecchio apparently disagrees with me on this -or am I reading this wrong? [my apologies if I'm reading this wrong]

Over at AKACatholic.com in his "Pope or Anti-pope: Does it matter?" post, Mr. Verrecchio wrote the following...

Quote: Even so, let’s consider some of the arguments being floated to this end:A future pope will have to sort this mess out for us; we are unable.
The Church is mired in an unprecedented crisis that has been festering for more than five decades now.
In such an environment as this, it is entirely unreasonable – irresponsible even – to simply sit back and wait for a new conclave to elect an intrepid defender of the Faith who will right the ship and set the record straight. I mean, let’s face it, folks – the papabile talent pool is no more than ankle deep at this point.
Rest assured, Our Lord is not asking us to set aside our intelligence and ability to reason in this matter; on the contrary, we need to make use of these God-given gifts all the more in the absence of true shepherds.[clipped]
My response is, look at previous councils!  This is how the Church works and has always worked. The Third Council of Constantinople- decades after Pope Honoriuos I's, death declared him a heretic and his teachings heretical.  This might very well be the case with Pope Francis himself should he refuse correction.

So what do we Catholics do when we have a current pope speaking heresy and commemorating heretics?

Mr. Verrecchio in his post says we have two options, "fight or flight"...
Quote:
It’s “fight or flight.”
In the face of this unprecedented attack on the Petrine ministry, the “visible foundation” of the Church, some Catholic commentators will flee, and it must be said that flight has its rewards. Others will dig in and fight, which is always carried out at a cost.
I choose the latter.[end]
Again I ask, am I reading this correctly?

I hope he means 'fight'...but if he means 'flight'...no!

Flight? Flight to where? Mr. Verrecchio does not elaborate- and after re-reading this a few times I am admittedly unclear as to which "latter" he is referring to. That said, my response stands for all who are considering "flight"- that is not an option for Catholics!

We do not take flight.  We are the church militant on earth. We fight! We stand with the teachings handed down to us from the Church.  We reject heresy- even when it comes from a pope.

What we never do is take flight from Christ's Holy Catholic Church.

We are not cowards. Our Lord is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The Holy Catholic Church is His Church and as such we must cling to Her regardless of who is pope or what heresy might come from his lips.

There is no where else to go folks. Please don't fear a heretical pope. Cling to your Faith as it was handed down to you over the centuries. Popes come and popes go. We have good ones, we have great ones and occasionally we have heretical ones.

Do not take flight. Fight.

In Christ,

Julie @ Connecticut Catholic Corner

***Addition: I truly hope that Mr. Verrecchio means "fight" and not "flight". My message in this post remains to those who have or are thinking of taking "flight" from the Church.***

Must read...

If you haven't yet read The Remnant's "With Burning Concern: We Accuse Pope Francis" I highly recommend it.

Partial quote:

Your Holiness:
The following narrative, written in our desperation as lowly members of the laity, is what we must call an accusation concerning your pontificate, which has been a calamity for the Church in proportion to which it delights the powers of this world. The culminating event that impelled us to take this step was the revelation of your “confidential” letter to the bishops of Buenos Aires authorizing them, solely on the basis of your own views as expressed in Amoris Laetitia, to admit certain public adulterers in “second marriages” to the sacraments of Confession and Holy Communion without any firm purpose of amending their lives by ceasing their adulterous sexual relations.

You have thus defied the very words of Our Lord Himself condemning divorce and “remarriage” as adultery per se without exception, the admonition of Saint Paul on the divine penalty for unworthy reception of the Blessed Sacrament, the teaching of your two immediate predecessors in line with the bimillenial moral doctrine and Eucharistic discipline of the Church rooted in divine revelation, the Code of Canon Law and all of Tradition.

You have already provoked a fracturing of the Church’s universal discipline, with some bishops maintaining it despite Amoris Laetitia while others, including those in Buenos Aires, are announcing a change based solely on the authority of your scandalous “apostolic exhortation.” Nothing like this has ever happened in the history of the Church.

Yet, almost without exception, the conservative members of the hierarchy observe a politic silence while the liberals exult publicly over their triumph thanks to you. Almost no one in the hierarchy stands in opposition to your reckless disregard of sound doctrine and practice, even though many murmur privately against your depredations. Thus, as it was during the Arian crisis, it falls to the laity to defend the Faith in the midst of a near-universal defection from duty on the part of the hierarchs.

Of course we are nothing in the scheme of things, and yet as baptized lay members of the Mystical Body we are endowed with the God-given right and the correlative duty, enshrined in Church law (cf. CIC can. 212), to communicate with you and with our fellow Catholics concerning the acute crisis your governance of the Church has provoked amidst an already chronic state of ecclesial crisis following the Second Vatican Council.

Private entreaties having proven utterly useless, as we note below, we have published this document to discharge our burden of conscience in the face of the grave harm you have inflicted, and threaten to inflict, upon souls and the ecclesial commonwealth, and to exhort our fellow Catholics to stand in principled opposition to your continuing abuse of the papal office, particularly where it concerns the Church’s infallible teaching against adultery and profanation of the Holy Eucharist.

In making the decision to publish this document we were guided by the teaching of the Angelic Doctor on a matter of natural justice in the Church:

It must be observed, however, that if the faith were endangered, a subject ought to rebuke his prelate even publicly. Hence Paul, who was Peter’s subject, rebuked him in public, on account of the imminent danger of scandal concerning faith, and, as the gloss of Augustine says on Galatians 2:11, “Peter gave an example to superiors, that if at any time they should happen to stray from the straight path, they should not disdain to be reproved by their subjects.” [Summa Theologiae, II-II, Q. 33, Art 4]

We have been guided as well by the teaching of Saint Robert Bellarmine, Doctor of the Church, regarding licit resistance to a wayward Roman Pontiff:

Therefore, just as it would be lawful to resist a Pontiff invading a body, so it is lawful to resist him invading souls or disturbing a state, and much more if he should endeavor to destroy the Church. I say, it is lawful to resist him, by not doing what he commands, and by blocking him, lest he should carry out his will… [De Controversiis on the Roman Pontiff, Bk. 2, Ch. 29].

Catholics the world over, and not just “traditionalists,” are convinced that the situation Bellarmine envisioned hypothetically is today a reality. That conviction is the motive for this document.

May God be the judge of the rectitude of our intentions.

Another scandal from the Holy Father

Open adulterers no longer need to repent of their mortal sin in order to receive Holy Communion in Christ's Holy Catholic Church, says Pope Francis (Amoris Laetitia).

Quote from Robert Royal is editor-in-chief of The Catholic Thing: "Indeed, Catholics have a new teaching now, not only on divorce and remarriage. We have a new vision of the Eucharist. It’s worth recalling that in January the pope, coyly, not ruling it out, suggested to a group of Lutherans in Rome that they, too, should “talk with the Lord” and “go forward.” Indeed, they later took Communion at Mass in the Vatican. In a way, that was even more significant. A Catholic couple, divorced and remarried, are sinners, but – at least in principle – still Catholic. Has intercommunion with non-Catholic Christians also been decided now without any consultation – almost as if such a momentous step in understanding the Sacrament of Unity hardly matters?
I say this in sorrow, but I’m afraid that the rest of this papacy is now going to be rent by bands of dissenters, charges of papal heresy, threats of – and perhaps outright –schism. Lord, have mercy." [clipped]

The good folks at EWTN are just as dumbfounded as the rest of us at this latest scandal from our current 'merciful' pope.

Clearly they are stunned, unhappy and (I think) holding back the desire to scream their outrage at this latest horror from our current pope.

EWTN's Raymond Arroyo on his show "The World Over" first stepped up to the plate about this pope, just months ago...

(my post on that: http://connecticutcatholiccorner.blogspot.com/2016/06/ewtn-takes-on-pope-francis-problem.html )

I'd ask  "what's next?" but we already know what is coming, Christ's Holy Catholic Church is about to celebrate excommunicated heretic Martin Luther with Pope Francis presiding over the entire event. God help us!

This pope continues to scandalize the faithful. Some in the Catholic media warn that for Catholics to point these scandals out we are putting fear into the faithful and causing people to leave the Church. Yet I believe, the pope is sending a great many people out the doors of the Church, not Catholic bloggers, newspapers or media outlets.  This falls squarely on the pope.

On September 14, 2016 over at "Torch of the Faith" Catholic website I found an excellent article called "A Timely Reminder", I want to share a quote from that article for Catholics like me who are scandalized with our current pope and all that is going on with our Church today...

quote (in part): A Timely Reminder
"Today's feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross provides a timely reminder that the ultimate victory will be that of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
No matter how bad things get for the Church and Her members, we can rely on that great certainty.
During the last couple of days, I have read comments at other sites about people who were getting shaky in their Faith because of all that is happening to the Church: I read of one woman who had decided that Pope Francis had so contradicted previous Magisterial teaching that she had given up on the whole thing; I read of a man who had stopped going to Confession and was now beginning to have doubts about the whole notion of organized religion; and I read of others who thought their efforts to be faithful to Christ had all been in vain.
I feel for people in this situation. I really do. We can make no bones about the fact that these are extremely grim times for Catholics everywhere.
However, it is essential to bear in mind that Christ has promised that He shall remain with His Church until the end of time; and that the gates of Hell shall not prevail against Her (Matthew 16:18).
As we generally remind ourselves and our readers each New Year's Day: ''Jesus Christ is the Lord of the cosmos and of history. In Him, human history and indeed all Creation are 'set forth' and transcendently fulfilled'' (Catechism of the Catholic Church: CCC 668).
We also do well to have a solid grasp of real Catholic doctrine. For example, the Church teaches that popes are Infallible under certain clear conditions. The Church has never taught that popes are impeccable.
Awareness of Spiritual Warfare
Because of our fallen nature, it is a classical trick of Satan to try and get us to rebel against God, in the manner of our First Parents Adam and Eve, when things either go wrong, or appear to be going wrong for us.
Also, Satan being the ultimate deceiver can confuse us into thinking that things are much worse than they truly are.
Thoughts and feelings of despair come from the infernal enemy of our souls. Inspirations of faith, hope and charity come to us from God's grace; mediated to us by Our Lady, the Saints and our Guardian Angels.
Unfortunately, the person who chooses to despair and give up the Faith has at some deep level made a decision that they know better than God and the Church. This is a classical example of pride. It is important to grasp the fact that this final collapse has normally been achieved through defeats and compromises with incremental attacks from Satan and his minions.
For the person that has practiced the Faith, the destruction wrought by Satan once they leave the protection of the Church would perhaps be swift.
This is why it is essential to remain focused on Christ and His promises to the Church. There is no way that any of us, or even all of us together, could defeat Satan without Christ and His Church. We are fallen creatures with a tendency to sin and intellects far below that of Satan. Without Christ we can do nothing; with Him we can do all things (Philippians 4:13).
A Personal Experience
I have shared before that I was tempted to leave the Church back in 2009, when Modernists seemed to be stitching up the last vestiges of orthodox hopes here in England. I remember thinking that we had been through so much at the hands of dissenters, and that things had become so corrupt, that I was just getting out of the Church. At that point, I saw a mental picture of myself standing at the edge of a ship, about to step off into a black and storm-tossed sea. Thanks be to God, this helped me to come to my senses and remain lashed to the Barque of Peter by the Sacraments, Sacred Scripture and Tradition, prayer and reading key spiritual writersGod's grace enabled me to see that I would have been rapidly destroyed if I had tried to fight corruption by leaving the only supernatural means available to do this in this world. That is because I, like everyone else in this world, am also corrupted by my own sins and sinful tendencies." [clipped]

What a beautiful way to express what so many Catholics are facing right now!

We must NOT abandon Christ's Holy Catholic Church, but rather cling to Her in this time of so much corruption coming from inside the Church.

Satan wants us to "abandon ship" and leave the Ark of our Salvation that Christ gave us on earth. He is cunning, sly, deceitful and wicked. We must not fall for his traps- even if they come in the form of a merciful pope spouting things never taught before by the Church.

Stay with the only Church Jesus Christ created on earth, focus on the things of God officially taught by our Holy Church for centuries, not the current ramblings of any wayward clergy.

They speak with forked tongues.

In Christ,

EXSURGE DOMINE
Condemning The Errors Of Martin Luther
Pope Leo X
Bull issued June 15, 1520

Quote (in part): "With the advice and consent of these our venerable brothers, with mature deliberation on each and every one of the above theses, and by the authority of almighty God, the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and our own authority, we condemn, reprobate, and reject completely each of these theses or errors as either heretical, scandalous, false, offensive to pious ears or seductive of simple minds, and against Catholic truth. By listing them, we decree and declare that all the faithful of both sexes must regard them as condemned, reprobated, and rejected….We restrain all in the virtue of holy obedience and under the penalty of an automatic major excommunication....
Moreover, because the preceding errors and many others are contained in the books or writings of Martin Luther, we likewise condemn, reprobate, and reject completely the books and all the writings and sermons of the said Martin, whether in Latin or any other language, containing the said errors or any one of them; and we wish them to be regarded as utterly condemned, reprobated, and rejected. We forbid each and every one of the faithful of either sex, in virtue of holy obedience and under the above penalties to be incurred automatically, to read, assert, preach, praise, print, publish, or defend them. They will incur these penalties if they presume to uphold them in any way, personally or through another or others, directly or indirectly, tacitly or explicitly, publicly or occultly, either in their own homes or in other public or private places.
Indeed immediately after the publication of this letter these works, wherever they may be, shall be sought out carefully by the ordinaries and others [ecclesiastics and regulars], and under each and every one of the above penalties shall be burned publicly and solemnly in the presence of the clerics and people." [end]

And...

Decet Romanum Pontificem
Papal Bull on the Condemnation and Excommunication of Martin Luther, the Heretic, and his Followers, January 3, 1521

Quote (in part): "II We have been informed that after this previous missive had been exhibited in public and the interval or intervals it prescribed had elapsed [60 days]—and we hereby give solemn notice to all faithful Christians that these intervals have and are elapsed—many of those who had followed the errors of Martin took cognisance of our missive and its warnings and injunctions; the spirit of a saner counsel brought them back to themselves, they confessed their errors and abjured the heresy at our instance, and by returning to the true Catholic faith obtained the blessing of absolution with which the self-same messengers had been empowered; and in several states and localities of the said Germany the books and writings of the said Martin were publicly burned, as we had enjoined.
Nevertheless Martin himself—and it gives us grievous sorrow and perplexity to say this—the slave of a depraved mind, has scorned to revoke his errors within the prescribed interval and to send us word of such revocation, or to come to us himself; nay, like a stone of stumbling, he has feared not to write and preach worse things than before against us and this Holy See and the Catholic faith, and to lead others on to do the same.
He has now been declared a heretic; and so also others, whatever their authority and rank, who have cared nought of their own salvation but publicly and in all men's eyes become followers of Martin's pernicious and heretical sect, and given him openly and publicly their help, counsel and favour, encouraging him in their midst in his disobedience and obstinacy, or hindering the publication of our said missive: such men have incurred the punishments set out in that missive, and are to be treated rightfully as heretics and avoided by all faithful Christians, as the Apostle says (Titus iii. 10-11).
III. Our purpose is that such men should rightfully be ranked with Martin and other accursed heretics and excommunicates, and that even as they have ranged themselves with the obstinacy in sinning of the said Martin, they shall likewise share his punishments and his name, by bearing with them everywhere the title "Lutheran" and the punishments it incurs.
Our previous instructions were so clear and so effectively publicised and we shall adhere so strictly to our present decrees and declarations, that they will lack no proof, warning or citation.
Our decrees which follow are passed against Martin and others who follow him in the obstinacy of his depraved and damnable purpose, as also against those who defend and protect him with a military bodyguard, and do not fear to support him with their own resources or in any other way, and have and do presume to offer and afford help, counsel and favour toward him. All their names, surnames and rank—however lofty and dazzling their dignity may be—we wish to be taken as included in these decrees with the same effect as if they were individually listed and could be so listed in their publication, which must be furthered with an energy to match their contents.
On all these we decree the sentences of excommunication, of anathema, of our perpetual condemnation and interdict; of privation of dignities, honours and property on them and their descendants, and of declared unfitness for such possessions; of the confiscation of their goods and of the crime of treason; and these and the other sentences, censures and punishments which are inflicted by canon law on heretics and are set out in our aforesaid missive, we decree to have fallen on all these men to their damnation." [end]

A damned heretic to be "commemorated" by Christ's Holy Catholic Church...?

What are the faithful to believe? What the Church taught for centuries...

...or what it is teaching today?

Oh what a difference a pope makes!

I'll stick with the authentic teachings of the Church that have been handed down for centuries.

In Christ and praying a meteor hits us before the Church officially participates in this scandalous diabolic evil event.

Hillary Clinton did not "stumble"...

...she collapsed.  Her shoe fell off as she was DRAGGED into the modified ambulance van (not the usual vehicle for candidates) and she was hauled off immediately to the hospital... her daughter's house?

Some obvious points.

1) Note her entourage... no one looks startled or shocked by Hillary collapsing and being dragged into the vehicle. They calmly pick up her lost shoe and toss it into the vehicle after her unresponsive body.  Had this been an unusual occurrence I am fairly sure we would have seen a very different response from her team of handlers- like worry or panic for Mrs. Clinton's life.

2) Clinton's team first said she was "over heated"- hoping everyone would buy that story.

3) When no one seemed to be buying what they were selling, the new story was "pneumonia". That on Friday she was diagnosed with pneumonia and put on anti-biotics. IF that had actually happened, why not tell the media so that Clinton's strange coughing could be easily explained?

4) A little later her doctor said it was a combination of pneumonia and dehydration, but now Hillary was just fine! She exits her daughter's apartment building waving and smiling like nothing happened. Truly a miraculous recovery from pneumonia!

5) IF Hillary Clinton's handlers didn't know what was happening she would have been whisked away to the hospital ASAP - not her daughter's apartment. Clearly NO ONE thought this was spontaneous

No one was startled by her odd behavior. They seemed to expect it and watching the video it looks like they've had a great deal of experience with this behavior from Hillary.

Any candidate for president who collapses unexpectedly is NOT taken to a family member's home- they are taken to the hospital. This was not unexpected because it is typical with Hillary. The woman is in very bad health and completely unfit to be POTUS- in my opinion.

CNN and other msm needs to STOP saying Hillary "stumbled" getting into her vehicle.  Hillary did NOT stumble!  Hillary collapsed and was DRAGGED into the waiting vehicle.

And because she was not immediately taken to the hospital it shows (to me anyway) that NO ONE in her entourage was startled by her collapse or seemed to find any of it unusual. Business as usual.

This woman has serious health issues and I pray to God that they are exposed BEFORE the election.

The Clinton's are once more trying to deceive the American people and the msm is helping them

Wake up voters!  Hillary Clinton is lying to you all!

In Christ and wondering what excuse the Clinton handlers will give when she collapses again.

UPDATE: ADDITIONAL EVENTS...

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR PEACE IN OUR COMMUNITIES

The Archdiocese of Hartford is uniting with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and Archdioceses and Dioceses across the U.S. in a“National Day of Prayer for Peace in our Communities.”  It will be held on Friday, September 9th, the feast of St. Peter Claver.  All churches are encouraged to observe this day through prayer and action on a local level.  Prayers may be offered at Mass, during Eucharistic adoration, at schools and in homes.

Please join us in prayer at one of three different locations in the Archdiocese:

Hartford: St. Patrick–St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St.

Hour of Prayer from 5 to 6 p.m. Archbishop Leonard P. Blair will preside. Other religious leaders from Greater Hartford will take part.  All are welcome.  Free parking is available across the street from the parish.  Stop by after work, on your way home, and stay for an hour…stay for as long as you can!

New Haven: St. Mary Church, 5 Hillhouse Ave.

Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m.  Special prayers will be included for the intention of peace in our communities. Rev. Elias Henritzy, OP, former Promoter of Social Justice for the Dominican Province of St. Joseph, will be the celebrant and homilist. Please make an effort to attend.

Waterbury: Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St.

Hour of Prayer from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. Very Rev. Christopher Ford, rector, will preside.  Attend both, or stop by and offer your prayer for peace.  All are welcome!

According to Archbishop Leonard P. Blair, “Let us remember that Jesus says, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God’ (Mt 5:9).   This is as necessary as it is challenging at a time of global and domestic unrest, in a world fraught with aggression, terrorism and mistrust.   If we are to find peace, healing and hope, we must stand together and in the conviction that ultimately a loving God rules the world, not man, his selfish passions or personal agendas.”
