Catholic Events

It gives me great pleasure to let you know that Dom Alcuin Reid will be giving a talk based on his new book, Sacra Liturgia, of which he is the editor at St. Mary's Church in Norwalk.
Dom Alcuin is a monk of the Monastère Saint-Benoît in Fréjus-Toulon, France. He has lectured and has published extensively on the Liturgy, including The Organic Development of the Liturgy with a preface by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, and The Ceremonies of the Roman Rite Described. He is a supporter of the Traditional Roman Mass, not, as he would say, as a “Traditionalist” but as a Catholic. We are hoping that he will have copies of his new book for sale after the talk.
This is a great opportunity to hear one of the very best liturgical scholars and authors in the Church today. I hope you will come and bring friends.

There will be a Gregorian chant tutorial learning the basics of the Church's chant.
Date & time: Wednesday, June 18, 7pm
Place: Monastery of the Glorious Cross, 61 Burban Drive, Branford (next to St Elizabeth Church)
Fee: $20. (Scholarship available)
The text will be the Parish Book of Chant (CMAA, 2nd); if you have the Liber Cantualis, please bring that text, too.
An RSVP is required by June 14. Space is limited.

Weekend Teen Retreat Friday-Sunday, June 20-22 at the Holy Family Retreat Center, 303 Tunxis Rd, West Hartford.

This two-night retreat offers interested teens of high school age opportunities for growth in personal faith, community building and leadership training. The retreat provides a sacred and restful atmosphere to support teens in understanding their Catholic faith.  It encourages teens to share their gifts and talents with their parishes and to be leaders in sharing their faith with others. Begins on Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. and concludes with a family mass on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments will follow. Offering: $175.

Registration deadline has been extended to Wednesday, June 18.  For more information, call Liza Peters at 860-760-9712 or visit the Holy Family website.
