Holy Communion for Polygamists?

Pope Francis' excellent job of causing a "mess" in the Church continues with chaos in the African communities where polygamy is a troublesome issue in the culture. 

Cardinal Napier, Archbishop of Durban, South Africa recently tweeted: 

Before Pope Francis this was not a question. With Francis as pope everything seems to be questionable - because of course, who are we to judge?

Before Pope Francis we had: 

CONCERNING THE RECEPTION OF HOLY COMMUNION BY DIVORCED AND REMARRIED MEMBERS OF THE FAITHFULVatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith

[quote in part] "In some places it has also been proposed that in order objectively to examine their actual situation, the divorced and remarried would have to consult a prudent and expert priest. This priest, however, would have to respect their eventual decision in conscience to approach holy communion, without this implying an official authorization.
In these and similar cases it would be a matter of a tolerant and benevolent pastoral solution in order to do justice to the different situations of the divorced and remarried.
Even if analogous pastoral solutions have been proposed by a few fathers of the church and in some measure were practiced nevertheless these never attained the consensus of the fathers and in no way came to constitute the common doctrine of the church nor to determine her discipline. It falls to the universal magisterium, in fidelity to sacred Scripture and tradition, to teach and to interpret authentically the <depositum fidei>.
With respect to the aforementioned new pastoral proposals, this congregation deems itself obliged therefore to recall the doctrine and discipline of the church in this matter. In fidelity to the words of Jesus Christ, the church affirms that a new union cannot be recognized as valid if the preceding marriage was valid. If the divorced are remarried civilly, they find themselves in a situation that objectively contravenes God's law. Consequently, they cannot receive holy communion as long as this situation persists.
This norm is not at all a punishment or a discrimination against the divorced and remarried, but rather expresses an objective situation that of itself renders impossible the reception of holy communion.[end quote]

Jesus and our Church have always been very clear on this subject. 

Catholic Catechism: 

1665 The remarriage of persons divorced from a living, lawful spouse contravenes the plan and law of God as taught by Christ. They are not separated from the Church, but they cannot receive Eucharistic communion. They will lead Christian lives especially by educating their children in the faith.

With Francis as pope, suddenly it is a question because chaos and confusion is the new normal in our Church.

"For the African Church, this is a pressing issue. For example, in 2004 it was reported that nearly half of marriages in Senegal are polygamous. I know from my own former ministry in Kenya that polygamy is not at all unknown among Catholics. People in that sort of situation might well think that the admission of those in irregular second unions throws them some sort of lifeline.
Four Cardinals, as we know, have submitted five dubia to the Pope on the matter of the correct interpretation of Amoris Laetitia. Virtually every priest who has ever worked in Africa could submit a dubium on this matter too, namely, to quote Cardinal Napier: “If Westerners in irregular [marital] situations can receive Communion, are we to tell our polygamists and other ‘misfits’ that they too are allowed?”
If polygamists were ever admitted to Holy Communion for whatever reason, it would undo a century of work by the missionaries who have consistently taught that marriage is an exclusive and lifelong union between one man and one woman, and can only be dissolved by death. It would also severely damage the credibility of the Church, and undermine the authority of Scripture. Dubium means doubt, but on this matter there can be no doubt. We cannot admit polygamists to Holy Communion, whether serial ones of concurrent ones, whether Westerners or from other continents." [end quote] 

Who knew back in 2013 when the Holy Father said...

"I want to tell you something. What is it that I expect as a consequence of World Youth Day? I want a mess. We knew that in Rio there would be great disorder, but I want trouble in the dioceses!" he said, speaking off the cuff in his native Spanish. "I want to see the church get closer to the people. I want to get rid of clericalism, the mundane, this closing ourselves off within ourselves, in our parishes, schools or structures. Because these need to get out!"

...that we would be petitioning our Holy Father to clarify Holy Communion for adulterers and fornicators? 

Well Pope Francis, you have succeeded...you have given us a mess, disorder and trouble in dioceses around the world. 

I am sure your father is proud of your unholy accomplishments.

Pope Francis, Michael Voris, the SSPX and the devil

As everyone by now knows, this month Pope Francis announced his "Year of Mercy" which will include allowing Catholics to go to the SSPX for the Sacrament of Confession.  

The response to this has been (from what I gather) good.  Most people seem to see this as a step in the right direction in the hopes of the SSPX soon being fully in communion with the Church (that is to say with licit Sacraments).  

While I too hope and pray for such a unity, I am leery about what Pope Francis has done.  Of course, to be honest, almost everything this Holy Father does has me concerned.  

From the Pope's "off the cuff" comments and now infamous interviews, I have to wonder if this pope is one of those people who just goes full steam ahead and does/says things without thinking them through.  Pope or not, he is human and this is a human trait.  The problem with a pope who 'flies by the seat of his pants' as the expression goes, is that tremendous damage comes from not looking ahead and thinking through each and every decision.  When you're the pope, especially a media darling like Pope Francis is, every word, action or inaction will have an enormous ripple effect in the world.  Even now, before the Year of Mercy has begun, the ripple effect is being felt.

The folks over at The Remnant seem to be feeling the 'jubilee' over the SSPX having a licit and valid Sacrament of Confession for the Year of Mercy, although they (like others) are confused by just what this means at the end of the Year of Mercy.  At midnight are they invalid and illicit? How will we know?  Will the pope make some proclamation so we are all on the same page and know what is happening?  

Michael Voris and the folks over at Church Militant are going all out this week with numerous Vortex episodes on the SSPX and a new FBI (Faith Based Investigations) show all about the SSPX. 

In the comments area of today's Vortex, some people are questioning why Church Militant would be spending an entire week devoted to discussing the SSPX and whether or not they are in schism (Church Militant says they are, The Remnant says they aren't).  

My response is, Church Militant sees the writing on the wall as I do.  Give people who are yearning for more reverent and holy Mass's a year of going to the SSPX for one Sacrament and we will see people leaving the Holy Catholic Church for the SSPX for all their Sacraments (licit or illicit).  It's gonna happen.  Right now, many folks won't walk into an SSPX parish because of the division, but with Pope Francis' 'Year of Mercy' folks now see a 'green light' from the pope himself for going to the SSPX and checking them out.  

Like the devil himself, this pope (knowingly or unknowingly) is  tempting people.  Pure and simple.  

The people that are starved for what they had prior to the 1960's and what the SSPX has is the look and feel of all that our Novus Ordo Mass has lost in the decades since Vatican II.  And here is Pope Francis dangling that carrot in front of them...the SSPX for one year.  Basically he's saying "Go check out the SSPX for one year, then come back when the time is up". 

When Catholics go to the SSPX for Confession (and those who would not before, will now with this green light from the pope) what will happen? What will those priests say?  

Does anyone think the SSPX priests are going to miss the opportunity to bring people to 'their side' of Catholicism?  To help these people walk out the doors of the Holy Roman Catholic Church parishes they currently belong to and become new members of the SSPX?  Of course they are going to try and bring people in! 

Then what happens?  People fall in love with what the SSPX is offering them and at the end of the 'Year of Mercy' the Church says "Times up! Everyone come back home now, our play-date with the SSPX is over"?  

What is Pope Francis thinking?  Was he thinking at all?  Honestly, I wonder.  Is he so blinded by wanting to be nice and please everyone and be loved by all people that he doesn't stop to think about the consequences of his actions?  

This disturbs me greatly.  Meaning to or not, Pope Francis has once again caused more division in the Church.  And he's done it under the guise of "mercy".  And he's done it in such a way as to tempt people for a short period of time and then he's going to yank it away from them.  How is that a good thing?  

So to answer Hilary White's question in the comments area of Church Militant's Vortex: SSPX Sadness, I believe Church Militant sees the writing on the wall and is looking to educate people and arm them with facts so that they are not led astray or left confused and disillusioned when the 'Year of Mercy' is over and once more the Church declares the Sacraments of the SSPX as illicit. 

It is my belief that Church Militant has their eye on the present situation while never taking their eyes off what is coming.  They are doing what they can now to stem the flow of Catholics running out the door to the SSPX whether its because things go badly at the Synod [as many believe will be the case] or because during this 'Year of Mercy' people check out and like the SSPX.  Anyone with foresight can see this isn't going to end well unless the Church sorts out the differences with the SSPX before the year is up.  Those who leave during the 'Year of Mercy' may never return once the time period is up.  

I have to wonder why Pope Francis doesn't seem to see the writing on the wall as so many other Catholics do- or perhaps he does.  If so, just what does that say about it all?

Fr. James Martin another Pied Piper of Hell?

I've got a lot to show and tell, so this is going to be a long one folks.

A priest's response to the Supreme Courts ruling to legalize same sex unions (they are NOT marriages- I don't care what the court says) should be exactly what Christ's Holy Catholic Church says it is...sin, depraved, evil & disordered.

Catechism #2396 Among the sins gravely contrary to chastity are masturbation, fornication, pornography, and homosexual practices.

What a tragic time it is in the Church when priests openly and proudly support legalized sodomy and their Bishops and Pope pretend they don't see it.  

With no Bishops calling out their priests for such scandal it is up to the laity to do.  And how sad when a member of the Catholic laity does step up and attempt to correct such a priest from supporting legalized gay unions...only to have the priest call it "hate". 

And after receiving numerous tweets and Facebook messages attempting to correct Fr. Martin for going against Catholic teaching, Father suggested all those who oppose his position take a hike (guess that means Christ's Holy Catholic Church too- but I am guessing Fr. Martin didn't think of that). 

So some devout Catholics gave up and left...notice Fr. Martin's loving response and those of his groupies...

Nice eh?  So much love for a Catholic who actually SUPPORTS and BELIEVES in Catholic doctrine.

Fr. Martin doesn't want opposition to HIS beliefs...he wants to be adored by his gay activist fans- and he's got THOUSANDS of them judging by his Tweeter and Facebook accounts.  

The utter ignorance and confusion Fr. Martin's fans have is limitless- and he does nothing to correct them or bring them out of their stupor.  They have no more of an idea what love or Christianity is than my tennis shoe does.

Here's an interesting fan... it's an atheist who doesn't believe in God yet declares that Fr. Martin is preaching "the true word of Jesus" correctly and the rest of the Catholic Church has it all wrong. 

No, I'm not kidding.

It's certainly not just Fr. Martin...there are many of his ilk in the Church and that is the problem.  They are IN the Church.

Why?

2089 Incredulity is the neglect of revealed truth or the willful refusal to assent to it. "Heresy is the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic faith, or it is likewise an obstinate doubt concerning the same; apostasy is the total repudiation of the Christian faith; schism is the refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him." 11

These clergy are heretics and the Church is failing us all by allowing these heretics to remain in their positions poisoning their followers with their father the devil's lies. 

And viewing the Twitter and Facebook responses Fr. Martin gets for his pro-gay activism clearly shows these 'Catholics' as having swallowed his poison.  They are gushing over how loving Father is because he supports their right to gay unions and is rejoicing with them over the Supreme Courts ruling.  He should be weeping and in mourning like so many of the rest of us.

That is NOT what love means Fr. Martin, love is wanting souls to be saved from sin so they can have eternal life with our Lord in Heaven.  You can't get there if you die in mortal sin and yes, homosexual unions/acts are mortal sin.  

These priests are leading a multitude straight into Hell and they do it gleefully and boldly.  Instead of correcting the laity with OFFICIAL Catholic teaching...they support the sinners in their sin and leave them there to one day face eternal damnation.  I can think of nothing more vile for a priest to do then that. That is not love...it is hate. 

Again, what Fr. Martin has done here is not a display of love...it is hatred. He hates these people so much he wishes to leave them in mortal sin and LEAD THEM into mortal sin with his anti-Catholic rhetoric and silence in the face of their confusion.  Instead of telling these people a priest preaching Catholic doctrine on marriage and the sin of homosexual unions is LOVING them, not "an anti-gay message", Fr. Martin is silent on Church teaching and plays the sympathy card with them. 

Catechism #2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, 141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

Fr. James Martin will NEVER tell a gay couple that "homosexual acts are acts of grave depravity".  Nor will he tell the Catholic laity that "under no circumstance" can gay unions be supported or approved.  Nope, instead he talks about his own twisted and corrupted view of love...while he is showing them the purest form of hatred.

Fr. James Martin was extremely touched by a sob story about "Nana & Dot" two old lady "Catholic" lesbians who had to pretend to be sisters so they could live in mortal sin without society calling them out for it.  

The author of the story (another Jesuit)...Jason Welle, SJ gushes about how these lesbians living in mortal sin while being "Eucharistic Ministers" (don't get me started on that) taught him the meaning of love and mutual care...

Then Welles goes on to prove himself a complete fool when he says he knows there will still "be objections from those who believe that gay and lesbian relationships are immoral" as if Christ's Holy Catholic Church isn't one of those who will continue to "object" to such sinful unions. 

I know there will continue to be objections from those who believe that gay and lesbian relationships are immoral or that same sex marriages can simply not be recognized as proper marriages, fellow Catholics and other Americans of good will among them. While they may have run out of legal options to prevent civil recognition of same sex marriage, they will continue to press for the freedom of religious institutions and individuals to live out their lives of faith according to deeply held beliefs. The issue of civil marriage recognition may be settled, but debates about the morality and legality of how individuals and institutions interact in a pluralistic society will continue.

Psst...the debate was over thousands of years ago- NO SUCH THING AS GAY MARRIAGE.  ALL homosexual acts are DEPRAVED.  

How much the gay couple declares their "love" for each other has NOTHING to do with altering whether or not such a relationship is a sin or not. It is.  Accept it and get over it. 

The Church allows these heretics year after year after year to spread their fork-tongued lies to members of Christ's Holy Catholic Church and no one at the Vatican seems to care.  Why not?  

Is the Church still in the business of saving souls or are we just too busy saving sister earth now?

Will someone at the Vatican answer that question?
