Another scandal from the Holy Father

Open adulterers no longer need to repent of their mortal sin in order to receive Holy Communion in Christ's Holy Catholic Church, says Pope Francis (Amoris Laetitia).

In a way, that was even more significant. A Catholic couple, divorced and remarried, are sinners, but – at least in principle – still Catholic. The good folks at EWTN are just as dumbfounded as the rest of us at this latest scandal from our current 'merciful' pope. 

Clearly they are stunned, unhappy and (I think) holding back the desire to scream their outrage at this latest horror from our current pope. 

EWTN's Raymond Arroyo on his show "The World Over" first stepped up to the plate about this pope, just months ago...

I'd ask  "what's next?" but we already know what is coming, Christ's Holy Catholic Church is about to celebrate excommunicated heretic Martin Luther with Pope Francis presiding over the entire event. God help us!

This pope continues to scandalize the faithful. Some in the Catholic media warn that for Catholics to point these scandals out we are putting fear into the faithful and causing people to leave the Church. Yet I believe, the pope is sending a great many people out the doors of the Church, not Catholic bloggers, newspapers or media outlets.  This falls squarely on the pope. 

On September 14, 2016 over at "Torch of the Faith" Catholic website I found an excellent article called "A Timely Reminder", I want to share a quote from that article for Catholics like me who are scandalized with our current pope and all that is going on with our Church today...

"Today's feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross provides a timely reminder that the ultimate victory will be that of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
No matter how bad things get for the Church and Her members, we can rely on that great certainty.
During the last couple of days, I have read comments at other sites about people who were getting shaky in their Faith because of all that is happening to the Church: I read of one woman who had decided that Pope Francis had so contradicted previous Magisterial teaching that she had given up on the whole thing; I read of a man who had stopped going to Confession and was now beginning to have doubts about the whole notion of organized religion; and I read of others who thought their efforts to be faithful to Christ had all been in vain.
I feel for people in this situation. I really do. We can make no bones about the fact that these are extremely grim times for Catholics everywhere.
However, it is essential to bear in mind that Christ has promised that He shall remain with His Church until the end of time; and that the gates of Hell shall not prevail against Her (Matthew 16:18).
As we generally remind ourselves and our readers each New Year's Day: ''Jesus Christ is the Lord of the cosmos and of history. In Him, human history and indeed all Creation are 'set forth' and transcendently fulfilled'' (Catechism of the Catholic Church: CCC 668).
We also do well to have a solid grasp of real Catholic doctrine. For example, the Church teaches that popes are Infallible under certain clear conditions. The Church has never taught that popes are impeccable.
Awareness of Spiritual Warfare
Because of our fallen nature, it is a classical trick of Satan to try and get us to rebel against God, in the manner of our First Parents Adam and Eve, when things either go wrong, or appear to be going wrong for us.
Also, Satan being the ultimate deceiver can confuse us into thinking that things are much worse than they truly are.
Thoughts and feelings of despair come from the infernal enemy of our souls. Inspirations of faith, hope and charity come to us from God's grace; mediated to us by Our Lady, the Saints and our Guardian Angels.
Unfortunately, the person who chooses to despair and give up the Faith has at some deep level made a decision that they know better than God and the Church. This is a classical example of pride. It is important to grasp the fact that this final collapse has normally been achieved through defeats and compromises with incremental attacks from Satan and his minions.
For the person that has practiced the Faith, the destruction wrought by Satan once they leave the protection of the Church would perhaps be swift.
This is why it is essential to remain focused on Christ and His promises to the Church. There is no way that any of us, or even all of us together, could defeat Satan without Christ and His Church. We are fallen creatures with a tendency to sin and intellects far below that of Satan. Without Christ we can do nothing; with Him we can do all things (Philippians 4:13). 

A Personal Experience

I have shared before that I was tempted to leave the Church back in 2009, when Modernists seemed to be stitching up the last vestiges of orthodox hopes here in England. I remember thinking that we had been through so much at the hands of dissenters, and that things had become so corrupt, that I was just getting out of the Church. At that point, I saw a mental picture of myself standing at the edge of a ship, about to step off into a black and storm-tossed sea. Thanks be to God, this helped me to come to my senses and remain lashed to the Barque of Peter by the Sacraments, Sacred Scripture and Tradition, prayer and reading key spiritual writers. God's grace enabled me to see that I would have been rapidly destroyed if I had tried to fight corruption by leaving the only supernatural means available to do this in this world. That is because I, like everyone else in this world, am also corrupted by my own sins and sinful tendencies." [clipped]

What a beautiful way to express what so many Catholics are facing right now! 

We must NOT abandon Christ's Holy Catholic Church, but rather cling to Her in this time of so much corruption coming from inside the Church. 

Satan wants us to "abandon ship" and leave the Ark of our Salvation that Christ gave us on earth. He is cunning, sly, deceitful and wicked. We must not fall for his traps- even if they come in the form of a merciful pope spouting things never taught before by the Church. 

Stay with the only Church Jesus Christ created on earth, focus on the things of God officially taught by our Holy Church for centuries, not the current ramblings of any wayward clergy. 

They speak with forked tongues.

Our purpose is that such men should rightfully be ranked with Martin and other accursed heretics and excommunicates, and that even as they have ranged themselves with the obstinacy in sinning of the said Martin, they shall likewise share his punishments and his name, by bearing with them everywhere the title "Lutheran" and the punishments it incurs.
Our previous instructions were so clear and so effectively publicised and we shall adhere so strictly to our present decrees and declarations, that they will lack no proof, warning or citation.

A damned heretic to be "commemorated" by Christ's Holy Catholic Church...?

What are the faithful to believe? What the Church taught for centuries...

Oh what a difference a pope makes!

What unity can the Catholic Church have with heresy?

Christ's Holy Catholic Church, led currently by Pope Francis is calling for Catholics to "celebrate" an excommunicated heretic: Martin Luther on the 500th anniversary of the "reformation". 

 This anniversary should be a day of GREAT MOURNING for the Catholic Church, but no. We are now to celebrate the heretic Martin Luther for dividing the Church and leading (to date) millions upon millions of people out of Christ's Holy Catholic Church and into false religions that do not save souls. The Lutheran's are thrilled with this turn of events:

They still believe Martin Luther "saved" them from the errors of Christ's Catholic Church. They will continue to believe this because the Catholic Church no longer seems interested in converting them by telling the truth and pointing out the errors in their man-made religion.  The Catholic Church today just wants to "dialogue" with everyone. This is not what Jesus commissioned his church to do.

Jesus said: "And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." [Matthew 28:18-20]

Lutheran's don't "obey everything" Christ commanded or they'd be Catholic!  How about Pope Francis and our Catholic bishops dialogue that with these Lutherans? How about we Catholics hand out copies of Pope Leo X's Exsurge Domine?

They have bitter zeal, contention in their hearts, and boast and lie against the truth.
We beseech you also, Paul, to arise. It was you that enlightened and illuminated the Church by your doctrine and by a martyrdom like Peter's. For now a new Porphyry rises who, as the old once wrongfully assailed the holy apostles, now assails the holy pontiffs, our predecessors.
Rebuking them, in violation of your teaching, instead of imploring them, he is not ashamed to assail them, to tear at them, and when he despairs of his cause, to stoop to insults. He is like the heretics "whose last defense," as Jerome says, "is to start spewing out a serpent's venom with their tongue when they see that their causes are about to be condemned, and spring to insults when they see they are vanquished." For although you have said that there must be heresies to test the faithful, still they must be destroyed at their very birth by your intercession and help, so they do not grow or wax strong like your wolves. Finally, let the whole church of the saints and the rest of the universal church arise. Some, putting aside her true interpretation of Sacred Scripture, are blinded in mind by the father of lies. Wise in their own eyes, according to the ancient practice of heretics, they interpret these same Scriptures otherwise than the Holy Spirit demands, inspired only by their own sense of ambition, and for the sake of popular acclaim, as the Apostle declares. In fact, they twist and adulterate the Scriptures. As a result, according to Jerome, "It is no longer the Gospel of Christ, but a man's, or what is worse, the devil's."
Let all this holy Church of God, I say, arise, and with the blessed apostles intercede with almighty God to purge the errors of His sheep, to banish all heresies from the lands of the faithful, and be pleased to maintain the peace and unity of His holy Church.
For we can scarcely express, from distress and grief of mind, what has reached our ears for some time by the report of reliable men and general rumor; alas, we have even seen with our eyes and read the many diverse errors. Some of these have already been condemned by councils and the constitutions of our predecessors, and expressly contain even the heresy of the Greeks and Bohemians. Other errors are either heretical, false, scandalous, or offensive to pious ears, as seductive of simple minds, originating with false exponents of the faith who in their proud curiosity yearn for the world's glory, and contrary to the Apostle's teaching, wish to be wiser than they should be.
Their talkativeness, unsupported by the authority of the Scriptures, as Jerome says, would not win credence unless they appeared to support their perverse doctrine even with divine testimonies however badly interpreted. From their sight fear of God has now passed.
These errors have, at the suggestion of the human race, been revived and recently propagated among the more frivolous and the illustrious German nation. We grieve the more that this happened there because we and our predecessors have always held this nation in the bosom of our affection. For after the empire had been transferred by the Roman Church from the Greeks to these same Germans, our predecessors and we always took the Church's advocates and defenders from among them. Indeed it is certain that these Germans, truly germane to the Catholic faith, have always been the bitterest opponents of heresies, as witnessed by those commendable constitutions of the German emperors in behalf of the Church's independence, freedom, and the expulsion and extermination of all heretics from Germany. Those constitutions formerly issued, and then confirmed by our predecessors, were issued under the greatest penalties even of loss of lands and dominions against anyone sheltering or not expelling them. If they were observed today both we and they would obviously be free of this disturbance.
Witness to this is the condemnation and punishment in the Council of Constance of the infidelity of the Hussites and Wyclifites as well as Jerome of Prague. Witness to this is the blood of Germans shed so often in wars against the Bohemians. A final witness is the refutation, rejection, and condemnation—no less learned than true and holy—of the above errors, or many of them, by the universities of Cologne and Louvain, most devoted and religious cultivators of the Lord's field. We could allege many other facts too, which we have decided to omit, lest we appear to be composing a history.
In virtue of our pastoral office committed to us by the divine favor we can under no circumstances tolerate or overlook any longer the pernicious poison of the above errors without disgrace to the Christian religion and injury to orthodox faith. Some of these errors we have decided to include in the present document; their substance is as follows:
1. It is a heretical opinion, but a common one, that the sacraments of the New Law give pardoning grace to those who do not set up an obstacle.
2. To deny that in a child after baptism sin remains is to treat with contempt both Paul and Christ.
3. The inflammable sources of sin, even if there be no actual sin, delay a soul departing from the body from entrance into heaven.
4. To one on the point of death imperfect charity necessarily brings with it great fear, which in itself alone is enough to produce the punishment of purgatory, and impedes entrance into the kingdom.
5. That there are three parts to penance: contrition, confession, and satisfaction, has no foundation in Sacred Scripture nor in the ancient sacred Christian doctors.
6. Contrition, which is acquired through discussion, collection, and detestation of sins, by which one reflects upon his years in the bitterness of his soul, by pondering over the gravity of sins, their number, their baseness, the loss of eternal beatitude, and the acquisition of eternal damnation, this contrition makes him a hypocrite, indeed more a sinner.
7. It is a most truthful proverb and the doctrine concerning the contritions given thus far is the more remarkable: "Not to do so in the future is the highest penance; the best penance, a new life."
8. By no means may you presume to confess venial sins, nor even all mortal sins, because it is impossible that you know all mortal sins. Hence in the primitive Church only manifest mortal sins were confessed.
9. As long as we wish to confess all sins without exception, we are doing nothing else than to wish to leave nothing to God's mercy for pardon.
10. Sins are not forgiven to anyone, unless when the priest forgives them he believes they are forgiven; on the contrary the sin would remain unless he believed it was forgiven; for indeed the remission of sin and the granting of grace does not suffice, but it is necessary also to believe that there has been forgiveness.
11. By no means can you have reassurance of being absolved because of your contrition, but because of the word of Christ: "Whatsoever you shall loose, etc." Hence, I say, trust confidently, if you have obtained the absolution of the priest, and firmly believe yourself to have been absolved, and you will truly be absolved, whatever there may be of contrition.
12. If through an impossibility he who confessed was not contrite, or the priest did not absolve seriously, but in a jocose manner, if nevertheless he believes that he has been absolved, he is most truly absolved.
13. In the sacrament of penance and the remission of sin the pope or the bishop does no more than the lowest priest; indeed, where there is no priest, any Christian, even if a woman or child, may equally do as much.
14. No one ought to answer a priest that he is contrite, nor should the priest inquire.
15. Great is the error of those who approach the sacrament of the Eucharist relying on this, that they have confessed, that they are not conscious of any mortal sin, that they have sent their prayers on ahead and made preparations; all these eat and drink judgment to themselves. But if they believe and trust that they will attain grace, then this faith alone makes them pure and worthy.
16. It seems to have been decided that the Church in common Council established that the laity should communicate under both species; the Bohemians who communicate under both species are not heretics, but schismatics.
17. The treasures of the Church, from which the pope grants indulgences, are not the merits of Christ and of the saints.
18. Indulgences are pious frauds of the faithful, and remissions of good works; and they are among the number of those things which are allowed, and not of the number of those which are advantageous.
19. Indulgences are of no avail to those who truly gain them, for the remission of the penalty due to actual sin in the sight of divine justice.
20. They are seduced who believe that indulgences are salutary and useful for the fruit of the spirit.
21. Indulgences are necessary only for public crimes, and are properly conceded only to the harsh and impatient.
22. For six kinds of men indulgences are neither necessary nor useful; namely, for the dead and those about to die, the infirm, those legitimately hindered, and those who have not committed crimes, and those who have committed crimes, but not public ones, and those who devote themselves to better things.
23. Excommunications are only external penalties and they do not deprive man of the common spiritual prayers of the Church.
24. Christians must be taught to cherish excommunications rather than to fear them.
25. The Roman Pontiff, the successor of Peter, is not the vicar of Christ over all the churches of the entire world, instituted by Christ Himself in blessed Peter.
26. The word of Christ to Peter: "Whatsoever you shall loose on earth," etc., is extended merely to those things bound by Peter himself.
27. It is certain that it is not in the power of the Church or the pope to decide upon the articles of faith, and much less concerning the laws for morals or for good works.
28. If the pope with a great part of the Church thought so and so, he would not err; still it is not a sin or heresy to think the contrary, especially in a matter not necessary for salvation, until one alternative is condemned and another approved by a general Council.
29. A way has been made for us for weakening the authority of councils, and for freely contradicting their actions, and judging their decrees, and boldly confessing whatever seems true, whether it has been approved or disapproved by any council whatsoever.
30. Some articles of John Hus, condemned in the Council of Constance, are most Christian, wholly true and evangelical; these the universal Church could not condemn.
31. In every good work the just man sins.
32. A good work done very well is a venial sin.
33. That heretics be burned is against the will of the Spirit.
34. To go to war against the Turks is to resist God who punishes our iniquities through them.
35. No one is certain that he is not always sinning mortally, because of the most hidden vice of pride.
36. Free will after sin is a matter of title only; and as long as one does what is in him, one sins mortally.
37. Purgatory cannot be proved from Sacred Scripture which is in the canon.
38. The souls in purgatory are not sure of their salvation, at least not all; nor is it proved by any arguments or by the Scriptures that they are beyond the state of meriting or of increasing in charity.
39. The souls in purgatory sin without intermission, as long as they seek rest and abhor punishment.
40. The souls freed from purgatory by the suffrages of the living are less happy than if they had made satisfactions by themselves.
41. Ecclesiastical prelates and secular princes would not act badly if they destroyed all of the money bags of beggary.
No one of sound mind is ignorant how destructive, pernicious, scandalous, and seductive to pious and simple minds these various errors are, how opposed they are to all charity and reverence for the holy Roman Church who is the mother of all the faithful and teacher of the faith; how destructive they are of the vigor of ecclesiastical discipline, namely obedience. This virtue is the font and origin of all virtues and without it anyone is readily convicted of being unfaithful.
Therefore we, in this above enumeration, important as it is, wish to proceed with great care as is proper, and to cut off the advance of this plague and cancerous disease so it will not spread any further in the Lord's field as harmful thorn-bushes. We have therefore held a careful inquiry, scrutiny, discussion, strict examination, and mature deliberation with each of the brothers, the eminent cardinals of the holy Roman Church, as well as the priors and ministers general of the religious orders, besides many other professors and masters skilled in sacred theology and in civil and canon law. What is worse, adding evil to evil, and on learning of the citation, he broke forth in a rash appeal to a future council. Therefore we can, without any further citation or delay, proceed against him to his condemnation and damnation as one whose faith is notoriously suspect and in fact a true heretic with the full severity of each and all of the above penalties and censures.
Yet, with the advice of our brothers, imitating the mercy of almighty God who does not wish the death of a sinner but rather that he be converted and live, and forgetting all the injuries inflicted on us and the Apostolic See, we have decided to use all the compassion we are capable of. It is our hope, so far as in us lies, that he will experience a change of heart by taking the road of mildness we have proposed, return, and turn away from his errors. We will receive him kindly as the prodigal son returning to the embrace of the Church.

Has any of this changed?  Have the Lutheran's and other protestants finally rejected these errors? 

Will Pope Francis attempt to correct the errors these protestants cling to as our Church did with Martin Luther so long ago? 

No!  

He's already stated he has no desire to convert protestants to the Catholic faith, he's "not interested" in evangelizing these people.  So what's the point of "dialogue" if you don't want to tell the Truth to people clinging to lies? 

What "unity" can the Catholic Church have with heresy? 

Why wouldn't our pope want all people to enter Christ's Holy Catholic Church?  To share in Her Sacraments?  To have all that Christ wants believers to have? 

I truly do not understand this pope.  He continues to disappoint me and I am angry that he doesn't want to actively TRY to convert people. He doesn't want to. I will never understand that.  Never. 

So once more, I find myself ticked off at my pope and other Catholic clergy.  I'm angry on two accounts: 1) that my Church will be commemorating/celebrating a heretic; and 2) my pope not wanting to convert people from false religions into the One and only True Church that Jesus Christ created on earth. 

My anger stems from once being one of those ignorant protestants who had no idea what I was missing.  I didn't know all that the Catholic Church had to offer because of the heretic Martin Luther and the generations of protestants on my mother's side of the family who generation after generation passed on the false beliefs of people like Luther to ignorant people who didn't know what they were missing.  

We were ignorant.  We fell for heresy and false religions.  Generations of my family were lost in lies and I can only hope that before their deaths SOMEONE reached out to them with the truth. 

By the grace of God and some wonderful Catholics who crossed my path and took the time to argue the facts with me (that's the best way to get my attention), I (along with my children) became Catholic.  Best thing that has ever happened to me or will ever happen to me! What a blessing and delight it is to be Catholic and have Christ's Church as my Church! To be inside rather than outside. Like the people on Noah's Ark compared to those outside the Ark. 

If I said "thank you" every single day for the rest of my life to these people for sharing their faith and to God, it would NEVER be enough. I get so angry when I hear members of the Catholic Church- namely clergy who simply want to "dialogue" with protestants rather than reach out to them and share the knowledge they as Catholic have.  How selfish you are!  How will you answer God for keeping His gift of the Faith to you from others?  You should be terrified of that day...for that day is coming. We will all answer for all we have done and for what we have not done, but should have done.

It absolutely boggles my mind that any member of Christ's Catholic Church (especially the clergy) would keep silent and not share the Catholic faith with people living outside the Church. It's cruel and heartless and selfish to do such a thing. 

It's like seeing a dehydrated person in the desert who will soon perish and instead of share with them the water you have, you offer them an umbrella to keep the sun off them while they die. 

We should not be celebrating or commemorating any heretic! If the pope wants "dialogue" we can dialogue with the facts of what Martin Luther did and the Truth found only in Christ's Holy Catholic Church. Let's dialogue about that! 

When will our beloved Holy Catholic Church once more do what Her Lord commissioned Her to do?

Babble from the Vatican?

I am so sad to hear such protestant-like talk coming from the Vatican.  It never seems to stop...it just grows and grows - perhaps this is to prepare us for the "celebration" of the heretic Martin Luther in 2017?

Anyone who follows this blog, knows that I grew up in a protestant church and converted to the Catholic faith as an adult.  I had more than 30 years of protestantism in my life- and I was not someone who never attended a church.  I grew up in church, joined everything they had...youth groups, Sunday school for children and adults, bible studies, Christian book clubs and on and on.

I heard over and over again, that as a Christian I could discover God anywhere at any time because every believer was a "priest" (in the "universal priesthood" theology from dear ol' heretic Martin Luther).  That my personal relationship with God was my own to explore in whatever manner worked for me.  I didn't need a specific church or a minister/priest because ALL believers and followers of Christ were themselves members of the "universal priesthood"-there was no royal priesthood and still isn't for Protestants and their theology. As the saying goes "Protestants are their own popes!" - its true.  Each Protestant gets to decide everything for themselves.

For some people, that means never setting foot in a church building.  This is why so many people tune in to watch televangelists- they are taught they can find their "personal relationship with God" anywhere so there is no need to attend or belong to a church community.  They can instead tune in to Christian televangelists to occasionally "be fed the Word of God" and to "grow in their Bible knowledge".

This is protestant theology for many Christians.

Today when I heard it (via Rome Reports) coming from the Vatican my heart sank.

Quote from Rome Reports:

"The gift of mercy is the announcement that the Church is called to transmit in her work of evangelization in this time of great change.”

It was the plenary meeting of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization. The Pope asked them to continue questioning without fear about what exactly is "the most coherent place to find Christ and follow Him.”

Knowingly or unknowingly, people at the Vatican (including our current pope) are promoting Protestantism and telling people (people who hear the words of televangelists on TV and other protestant leaders will recognize this in a heartbeat) that they DO NOT NEED THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. That the "great change" in the Catholic Church is suddenly Protestant theology.  It's not, but that is how it sounds to people who have heard this sort of teaching before.  This isn't new to protestants, this is the foundation of their theology.

When people hear the Pope telling anyone (yes, I realize this is spoken to the PCNE) to "continue questioning without fear about what exactly is the most coherent place to find Christ and follow Him" what they will get out of that is exactly what Protestants have been teaching for centuries "You don't need the Catholic Church to have a personal relationship with God.  You can find that anywhere all on your own."

That IS the message being heard here.

If the Church doesn't make the message loud and CLEAR (something this Pope has a problem with) that the Holy Catholic Church IS "the most coherent place to find Christ and follow Him" then the Church is COMPLETELY failing in Her mission. 

There should be NO question here.

Jesus Christ created ONE Church and that Church is the best place to "find Christ and follow Him".

Why is the Catholic Church ENCOURAGING anyone to "question" this?

Why is the Catholic Church telling anyone to question these beliefs "without fear"?

Its almost as if they have forgotten the existence of the Eucharist to hear such talk.

They are knowingly or unknowingly making the Church irrelevant to many people when such messaging comes out.

The Church must BOLDLY proclaim that She has always been and always will be "the most coherent place to find Christ and follow Him" because She is the ONLY place He is found Body, Soul, Blood and Divinity.  Period.

I wish Pope Francis would understand that.

Catholics to begin "commemorating" HERESIES- God forgive us this blasphemy!

   My personal opposition to “From Conflict to Communion: Lutheran-Catholic Commemoration of the Reformation” will read like a rant to many.  Hopefully a few others out there will agree and perhaps some Catholic clergy out there can correct me if they feel I’ve gotten something wrong here.  I welcome the comments of all, whether we agree, I would still really like to hear other opinions.  

   Now I know my non-Catholic friends (yes, I do have them) are going to hate what I have to say, but I am speaking as the Catholic I am about my faith and views on how my Catholic faith is operating in today’s world.  So if you don’t like it, don’t read it. I have no intentions of shutting my mouth for fear of offending anyone with my Catholic faith.

    This “commemoration” is to take place in 2017 for the 500^th anniversary since Luther divided Christ’s Holy Catholic Church and ripped people away from the True Faith and Sacraments – AKA “The Reformation”.  (If you haven’t seen this story, read it first here:  http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/after-five-centuries-of-division-catholics-and-lutherans-consider-their-com/  - I’ll wait.)  

OK, ready for my rant?

    The Reformation is a great day of celebration (yes it is a CELEBRATION, not merely a “commemoration” in the Lutheran denomination – the Bishops can play word games all they want, they are not fooling anyone, certainly not God) for many protestant denominations- especially the Lutheran’s who view Luther as the savior of Christianity (not Christians- there is a difference) from the evils of the Catholic Church and Her popes.   Luther HATED the Catholic Church AND her teachings and the Sacraments.  This is clear from his own writings…

Martin Luther’s letter to Pope Leo X (in part)

Luther writes: “Your see, however, which is called the Court of Rome, and which neither you nor any man can deny to be more corrupt than any Babylon or Sodom, and quite, as I believe, of a lost, desperate, and hopeless impiety, this I have verily abominated, and have felt indignant that the people of Christ should be cheated under your name and the pretext of the Church of Rome; and so I have resisted, and will resist, as long as the spirit of faith shall live in me. How does the Lutheran denomination TODAY view the Reformation?  Let’s see…

Rev. Dr. Richard P. Bucher (from- http://www.orlutheran.com/html/whatwas.html ) explains the Lutheran view of the Reformation:  

“God's Reformation of His Church through Martin Luther began as a rediscovery of the main teaching of Christianity, that we are declared righteous (justified) by faith in the cross of Jesus Christ. Really?  The Catholic Church was HIDING the Gospel and it was all up to Luther to bring salvation to the world??  That’s what Lutheran’s are taught and believe.  This is why “Reformation Day” is a HUGE celebration in this denomination.  Luther brought back salvation to them? *not!* But that is their belief. So the Catholic Bishops can play with words saying "its not a celebration", but it IS a celebration, it has been for nearly 500 years!  WAKE UP CATHOLICS!  You're being deceived!

Now how does (or did until now) the Catholic Church view the Protestant Reformation?  As a HERESY.

According to Catholic Church teaching & documents the Protestant Reformation is a HERESY!

Do Catholics commemorate Gnosticism?  

How about Arianism? NO!  

We do not, for good reason!  Our Church council’s sorted this all out long, long ago but sadly it seems TODAY’s Catholic clergy are either IGNORANT of these facts or flat out ignoring them to the detriment of Christ’s Holy Catholic Church.

HOW can a Catholic bishop ignore what the Church says about ANYONE who denies the Sacraments or rejects any of the Teachings of the Church?

“LET HIM BE ANATHEMA!” cries the Church!

Do the bishops know what “anathema” means? Or WHO the Church calls “anathema”?

HOW can a Catholic bishop ignore what the Church says about ANYONE who denies the Sacraments or rejects any of the Teachings of the Church?

I’m not a Catholic clergy, but I know what “anathema” means and what the Council of Trent says, so why don’t the Catholic Bishops and Cardinals know this too?  

My opinion is they DO know it, they just REJECT it.  Unfortunately, I see many (not all) in the Catholic Church today as more concerned with the WORLD, than with the mission Christ left His Church and the work Jesus left for His priesthood.  Preaching the Gospel message and bringing salvation to the lost with the Sacraments through Christ’s Holy Catholic Church.  THAT should be FIRST and foremost ALWAYS.

Does the Church simply toss out what previous Council’s have to say on such matters?  How about Papal Bulls?  Do Papal Bulls expire from one generation to the next?  

Is Luther and those who follow Luther’s teachings no longer viewed as “anathema” by the Church?  Was there a new Papal Bull for this that I missed?  Was it in the fine print of Vatican II?  How about Pope Leo X’s Papal Bull against Martin Luther AND all those who followed Luther?  Is that history now too?

We would have shown him clearer than the light of day that the Roman pontiffs, our predecessors, whom he injuriously attacks beyond all decency, never erred in their canons or constitutions which he tries to assail. For, according to the prophet, neither is healing oil nor the doctor lacking in Galaad.
But he always refused to listen and, despising the previous citation and each and every one of the above overtures, disdained to come. To the present day he has been contumacious. With a hardened spirit he has continued under censure over a year.
What is worse, adding evil to evil, and on learning of the citation, he broke forth in a rash appeal to a future council. This to be sure was contrary to the constitution of Pius II and Julius II our predecessors that all appealing in this way are to be punished with the penalties of heretics. In vain does he implore the help of a council, since he openly admits that he does not believe in a council.
Therefore we can, without any further citation or delay, proceed against him to his condemnation and damnation as one whose faith is notoriously suspect and in fact a true heretic with the full severity of each and all of the above penalties and censures.
Yet, with the advice of our brothers, imitating the mercy of almighty God who does not wish the death of a sinner but rather that he be converted and live, and forgetting all the injuries inflicted on us and the Apostolic See, we have decided to use all the compassion we are capable of. It is our hope, so far as in us lies, that he will experience a change of heart by taking the road of mildness we have proposed, return, and turn away from his errors. We will receive him kindly as the prodigal son returning to the embrace of the Church.Therefore let Martin himself and all those adhering to him, and those who shelter and support him, through the merciful heart of our God and the sprinkling of the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ by which and through whom the redemption of the human race and the upbuilding of holy mother Church was accomplished, know that from our heart we exhort and beseech that he cease to disturb the peace, unity, and truth of the Church for which the Savior prayed so earnestly to the Father. Let him abstain from his pernicious errors that he may come back to us. If they really will obey, and certify to us by legal documents that they have obeyed, they will find in us the affection of a father's love, the opening of the font of the effects of paternal charity, and opening of the font of mercy and clemency.

Did you see that part about “under the penalty of an automatic excommunication” for those who accept ANYTHING Luther wrote, taught or said?

Martin Luther was a heretic, who founded a heresy that divided Christ’s Holy Catholic Church and caused unknown numbers of people to be LOST and fall into damnation.

Why would ANYONE, especially a Catholic want to “commemorate” a heretic and his heresy?

Does “commemorating” heresies bring about salvation when the heresy denies Jesus Christ’s Church and Jesus Christ’s Sacraments?  NO!

Catholic Catechism: 

1400    Ecclesial communities derived from the Reformation and separated from the Catholic Church, “have not preserved the proper reality of the Eucharistic mystery in its fullness, especially because of the absence of the sacrament of Holy Orders.”²³⁹ It is for this reason that, for the Catholic Church, Eucharistic intercommunion with these communities is not possible. However these ecclesial communities, “when they commemorate the Lord’s death and resurrection in the Holy Supper... profess that it signifies life in communion with Christ and await his coming in glory.”²⁴⁰ (1536)

 406      The Church’s teaching on the transmission of original sin was articulated more precisely in the fifth century, especially under the impulse of St. Augustine’s reflections against Pelagianism, and in the sixteenth century, in opposition to the Protestant Reformation. Pelagius held that man could, by the natural power of free will and without the necessary help of God’s grace, lead a morally good life; he thus reduced the influence of Adam’s fault to bad example. The first Protestant reformers, on the contrary, taught that original sin has radically perverted man and destroyed his freedom; they identified the sin inherited by each man with the tendency to evil (concupiscentia), which would be insurmountable. The Church pronounced on the meaning of the data of Revelation on original sin especially at the second Council of Orange (529)²⁹⁶ and at the Council of Trent (1546).²⁹⁷

What this “commemoration” will do, is what so many ecumenical gatherings have done for decades… water’s down the True Faith (so as to not offend anyone), causes confusion (among Catholics more than anyone because they think these gathers put a “stamp” of Catholic approval on another belief system) and is a stumbling block for many who MIGHT be looking to the Church for guidance only to be led away by “commemorating” heresies as if they were something good.  

Heresy is NOT good- HERESY IS EVIL.  We should NEVER commemorate or celebrate evil.

This “From Conflict to Communion” is nothing but a holiday for the devil himself.

This is why (in my opinion) we NEED, DESPERATLY NEED a Vatican III to put a STOP to these things once and for all!
