Tis the season...

...for nuts to come out.

A few days ago the Huffingtonpost put together a "comedy" of social media backlash over the classic Christmas movie "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". 

HuffPost: Viewers Noticed Some Very Disturbing Details In ‘Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer’ Some of the scenes in this Christmas classic raise all kinds of issues. 

Most of it made me laugh...😉

All of these things kids have been saying for decades now. I've always thought that the Santa portrayed in this movie was HORRIBLE. And Rudolph's father was a jerk. The point of the entire movie is that bullying is wrong and that "misfits" fit in! Apparently this was lost on the Twitter folks when they were children. To see them just now figuring it out as adults was just hysterical!

His Twitter profile says he's a pastor, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess if he's giving a sermon this Sunday, Rudolph will be playing a part in it. 😏

From classic Christmas movies, to classic Christmas songs.

With all the retched music flooding our world today, it has been decided by the minority that the secular Christmas song "Baby it's cold outside" is "an example of the rape culture" we live in today. 

Radio station WDOK in Cleveland, Ohio has banned the song "Baby, its cold outside" because ONE listener called in saying the 1940's song is "inappropriate in 2018" in light of the #metoo movement. 😕 

Now get this, the radio station set up a poll and the majority want the song to stay, the minority did not-but the radio host flips the poll and says the majority want the song banned. 

Quote: “It wasn't really our decision. It's the decision of our listeners,” said WDOK midday host Desiray, noting that the Christmas lineup is decided by the station’s listeners.The station said it posted a poll about the song on its web site and a clear majority of respondents supported the decision to remove the song from the station’s lineup."

Looks to me like the majority of listeners do NOT want the song banned. 

Then the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center got involved and added their two cents... 

"In the song, the woman expresses concern about what others may think of her spending the night, as the man tries to convince her to stay.
While some might view the song and its lyrics as a playful, coy back-and-forth from another time, Miller said it may have a different meaning to a rape survivor.
“It really pushed the line of consent,” Miller said. “The character in the song is saying ‘no,’ and they're saying well, ‘does no really mean yes?’ and I think in 2018 what we know is consent is ‘yes’ and if you get a ‘no,’ it means ‘no’ and you should stop right there.”
Miller said the song is an example of the rape culture in which we live, and the first step to preventing sexual violence is to change that."

As for me and my house, I'm keeping my Dean Martin Christmas tunes- including "Baby its cold outside".🎄🎅

My Christmas wish...priests with brains

When Fr. James Martin retweets another priest you generally know what you're getting, but sometimes you still have a what-the-hell-is-that moment. 

This is one of those moments. 

The tweet is from Fr. Peter Wojcik who tweets a picture of the Holy Family as illegal immigrants, illegally entering a country. Fr. Wojcik then encourages illegals to continue to dream of illegally entering countries because, (get this)...Mary believed God was faithful to his promise. 

What the hell does that mean? That God promises people who want to enter countries illegally that they will get there? Encouraging people to make the deadly trek across borders that is known to kill people? 

Great message Fr. Wojcik, how many people will you have killed by encouraging this? 

Talk about using Jesus for politics!  This is disgraceful and potentially deadly! 

Way to go Father.

Inappropriate Children's Christmas Movie

Boy, you just never know what you're going to get when you sit down with family to watch a G-rated Christmas cartoon.  

I see a cartoon reindeer, some snow and Santa waving and think the family and I are in for a holiday treat of cuteness.  Taking a break from all the horrible news to just enjoy a cute Christmas cartoon movie. 

The movie I watched with my teen+ kids this weekend was no Frosty the Snowman.  Had my children been young I would have been upset to sit them down to watch it thinking I was getting a cute family friendly G-rated movie.  That is not what the movie "The Flight Before Christmas" delivered.  I had never heard of this movie before, so I had no idea what it was about- I was just going by the cute cover image.  Looks cute right?  As the saying goes, looks can be deceiving.

I am still rather shocked by the basis of the story.  And while I was watching it, I wondered how some parents dealt with the story line, so after the movie my oldest daughter looked up some reviews for me on Amazon. More on those later...

The story is about Niko, a little reindeer boy who doesn't have a father in his life. The reason he doesn't have a father in his life is because his mother had a one night stand (honest, its in the movie), got knocked up by one of Santa's reindeer (she never got his name so she can't even tell her son the name of his father) and had little Niko the following spring unknown to the reindeer she had sex with.  

Here is the scene of little Niko hearing his mother tell the story of how he was conceived when one of Santa's "Flying Forces" reindeer "took her for a spin" one day resulting in her pregnancy - no really watch the video clip she really says that: 

Nice kids Christmas story eh?  There's more. 

Niko wants to fly to prove to other little reindeer (who are teasing him) that his father really is one of Santa's "Flying Forces" reindeer -you see the flying gene gets passed from father to son, so if little Niko can fly he can prove his father is one of Santa's flying reindeer.

After putting the herd in danger from vicious wolves, little Niko decides its time to find his father.  A little flying squirrel has been a step father to little Niko his whole life, but Niko doesn't want a step father, he wants his biological father, so off Niko goes on an adventure to find his biological father.  The step-father squirrel goes with him and along the way, they meet up with Wilma the weasel.  They flee numerous times from a pack of horrible wolves who want to eat them.

(According to some reviews on Amazon, this wolf terrorized more than one child.)

Niko and friends overhear the black wolf's plan for his pack to eat all the flying reindeer to gain their power of flight for themselves and then to eat Santa, thus taking Santa's place on Christmas eve.  The plan finishes with the wolves going home to home eating all the little children sleeping in their beds waiting for Christmas morning.  Did I mention this was rated "G" for little children??

Niko and friends make it to where Santa and his reindeer live only to get in the way of the drunken reindeer (they drink a lot) making a trial flight.  The "santa" falls out of the sleigh, plummets to the ground then bursts into flames.  There is no indication that this is a stuffed or dummy Santa- so children everywhere (read the Amazon comments) were greatly disturbed to see Santa plummet to his death and go up in flames. 

This movie's holiday cheer continues with a lovely DNA song to finger who is Niko's father- all the reindeer admit to taking the ladies out for spins, but none of them will fess up to fathering Niko. 

Nice song for the kids to learn and sing for Christmas eh? 

The reindeer all deny being Niko's father, breaking his heart.  Then they decide to test him- by making him jump off their landing strip into oblivian.  If he flies, one of the reindeer is lying and really did father Niko. If he plummets to his death the Flying Force are in the clear.  

The story goes on...blah, blah, blah, until Niko shows some spunk, believes he can fly and does. There is a battle against the wolves- all the adult drunken reindeer run for their lives leaving little Niko, the squirrel and the Wilma the weasel to fend for themselves.  

Zero moral fiber in these flying reindeer.  

Long story short, they do all manage to survive- even the evil wolves.  Prancer fesses up to hooking up with Niko's mother and Santa talks to Niko thrilling him by giving him a place on the team to pull the sleigh. 

When Niko tries to talk to his father about coming home and seeing Niko's mother again so they can be a happy family together, Prancer stammers and makes excuses about being really busy with fly practice. The perfect Christmas cartoon version of a deadbeat father.

Niko returns home and declares his real father (the squirrel) had been right there with him all along.

The Gay Christmas Lights of Rome

Is nothing sacred any more?

Christmas lights in Rome normally used to celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, have been hijacked by the perverted.

The Christmas Lights normally seen in Rome this time of year have been replaced with "Gay Lights"- a rainbow flag of lights cloaking the streets.  The lights are meant to make people forget about Christ's birth and instead focus on gays and the made up nonsense of people fearing homosexuals (homophobia).  

"City assemblywoman Imma Battaglia says she and mayor Ignazio Marino had decided to send a message with the multi-coloured lights, which lit up on Friday and ripple for a kilometre and a half of the bustling Via del Corso.
Ms Battaglia, who also leads a gay rights campaign group, said the lights were intended to be against homophobia following the suicide of a gay teenager in the city."

Catholic and Boycotting Kmart

I don’t usually get very verbal about boycotting things and I almost never explain my reasons.  Usually I just quietly let my money speak for its self by not giving my dollars to businesses that I know have insulted my God or my Faith in any way.  But today I am going to tell you why I am boycotting Kmart and hopefully give you a reason to boycott them too.

First let me start by reminding everyone of what should be obvious, but is sadly lost by commercialism of the season.

Christmas is the day Catholics honor the birth of God Incarnate with “Christ’s Mass”.  It’s the day God humbled Himself in Heaven and came to earth as a small tender babe.  He put himself in the HANDS of human beings to care for and love and raise to adulthood for the sole purpose of one day being tortured, mocked, beaten and nailed to a cross for our salvation.  The most wonderful gift anyone can ever receive.  The Church knows this, this is why Advent and Christmas are celebrated.

God in Heaven becomes God Incarnate.

Christ’s birth on earth is a day for honoring God, thanking God, celebrating the love God has for us and most of all worshiping God.  Besides attending Christ’s Mass, Catholics also share gifts.  We do this because the Magi brought gifts to God Incarnate:  Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. 

Christmas (Christ’s Mass) and gift giving are part of our celebration thanking God for loving us enough to come to earth and save us.

Catholics (and all Christians) need to PONDER that for a good long while.  That’s what Advent is for.  

Remember the REASON for the season.

Yes shopping is part of it, but remember WHY we are shopping.

While you are shopping, think also about WHERE you are shopping.  WHO are you giving your Christmas dollars to?

Are they mocking the “Reason for the Season” Jesus Christ, God Incarnate?

If they are, WHY would you give them your money?

Is that not like saying “I am pro-life” then giving a cash donation to an abortion clinic?

Pay attention to WHO you give your money to.

Kmart has a new VULGAR “Christmas” Ad in which men jingle their private parts while wearing Joe Boxer underwear to the tune of “Jingle Bells”.  The Ad is titled "Show Your Joe"...

Men jingling their private parts to Christmas Carols is repulsive to me and insulting to "the reason for the season" in my personal opinion so I will NO LONGER do any shopping at Kmart- especially Christmas shopping.

And for the record, this is not the first time Kmart has thought it would be good advertising to push the envelope... not to long ago they had another ad which played on words making viewers stop and ask "Did they just say what it sounded like they said?"... 



No.  They didn't say it, but they WANTED you to THINK they said it.

The Christmas Magi weren't left out of this years Christmas ads either...


And they don't stop there... no they even use the image of a Catholic nun to push their sales...



Again... vulgarity in advertising will NEVER get me to give a business a dime.

Goodbye Kmart...

What time is the right time for Christmas music?

To borrow a phrase from the Duck Dynasty guys, I am “Happy, happy, happy!” to listen to Christmas music year round. Yes, I am one of THOSE people. 

So I was pleased to see: “Syracuse Stations Flip to “Holly-FM” with 24/7 Christmas” 

“SYRACUSE — For the past several years, Central New Yorkers have come to expect all-Christmas music to hit the radio on November 1. This year, a new record — as of late Saturday night, October 5 — there are two FM frequencies where you can hear holiday hits around the clock. ”Holly-FM” is up and running at 95.3 in Syracuse, and 103.9 in Oswego.” 

For the life of me I can’t understand why some people complain about hearing a song about the birth of our Savior outside the month of December. My own children moan and groan if I happen to listen to “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” or “O’Holy Night” in July. (I can often be found watching a Christmas movie year round too.)

Oh I get not wanting to hear “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” or “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer”, but a beautiful hymn singing about Jesus’ birth? Why not enjoy that year round? With all the crapola on the radio these days, I would think more Christians would embrace hymns about the birth of our Lord at any time.  No?

My eldest child tells me, we don't sing about Christ's birth in summer, any more than we sing Happy Birthday to someone six months before their birthday- because its not the time of His birthday.

To me, any song sung about our Lord can be sung at any time. 

What about you?  Do you get tired of Christmas music because it's played too soon?  

When exactly is the "right time" to begin listening to Christmas music?
